One can only imagine how utterly Donald Trump and Whiskey Pete Hegseth have failed the sailors and Marines aboard the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln so as to cause multiple troops to throw themselves overboard in a desperate effort to end their horrific deployment.
But that is how low morale has sunk on the Lincoln. The deployment began on November 21 and was supposed to end in May. But thanks to Donald Trump’s misbegotten war that he can’t figure out how to get out of, the deployment has been extended indefinitely, according to Military Times.
“The Navy has not given a precise number of service members who have attempted to go overboard or harm themselves,” The Daily Beast reported, but “the partners of sailors onboard the ship have spoken of multiple incidents of service members attempting to take their own lives.”
In what MS Now described as “contentious meetings” with Navy officials, family members expressed their concerns about their loved ones’ conditions aboard the aircraft carrier that has “set a modern-day record during the ongoing Iran war for the most continuous days at sea.”
The families are worried about the “sailors’ mental health, safety on deck, a lack of supplies, food shortages, water contamination and disruptions in the mail system, which have caused many care packages en route to the ship to be lost in transit for months,” according to MS Now.
One parent reportedly said her daughter believes she will die on the ship. Another said her sailor had expressed guilt about the Trump War, presumably because of the innocent civilians killed.
MS Now Pentagon Correspondent Priya Sridhar said that because of the poor conditions, the sailors and Marines can’t take showers or wash their uniforms. “I had some family members tell me that they believe that prisoners and inmates in jail are treated with more dignity and respect than our service members,” she said.
The troops don’t know “what this mission actually is and when is it going to end,” Sridhar added.
The tragedy is that Trump doesn’t seem to know, either.
