Whether Collins was serious or just giving off a false sense of bravado, because she's now in a race where she's expected to lose in November to Democrat Troy Jackson, the mere thought of Susan Collins remaining in the U.S. Senate until 2039 should fill anyone paying attention with disgust. In March, she vowed that if she wins in November, it would be her last. I guess we will see if Susan Collins' gaslighting exercises, like this Politico interview, work yet again in November. I can't imagine that Maine voters are that stupid and gullible, but I've said that before.

In a long interview with POLITICO’s Jonathan Martin published Wednesday, Maine Senator Susan Collins opened the door to seeking a seventh term in office if she wins again in November, and said she thinks President Biden is “totally” the reason voters care about candidates' ages this year.
Jonathan Martin: The age issue comes off with your candidacy, too. I assume this will be your last term if you ran.
Susan Collins: Never say never in politics, but, you know, I’m concentrating on this race right now, and that’s what I’m concentrating on. I would point out that the fact that I’ve never missed a roll call vote, Is pretty good indication of my health and energy.
Martin: Is that issue more of a Democrat thing, or do you think voters generally are pretty unhappy with this dominance of folks over the age of 70 in American politics?
Collins: I think it’s totally due to the concealment of Joe Biden’s health problems. I think that’s what did it.
