Late last month, The Daily Beast released a deeply disturbing report revealing that Colorado gubernatorial candidate Victor Marx spoke with a podcast host in 2021 and expressed disappointment that his wife had stopped combat training. He told the host his wife said she didn't need the training because she had him to physically protect her.

Marx went on to tell the host that he physically assaulted his wife by "slamming" her into a door, in an effort to prove his point about her need for training:

And I remember grabbing her and slamming her into our front door. I mean, pretty… it was a decent push. It’d be a bouncer push, right? She hit that, bent over, and started crying, facing the opposite way.

Now, in a Zoom call with his supporters as he runs for Governor of Colorado, Marx not only addressed the fact that he openly admitted to physically assaulting his wife; he made it perfectly clear that he'd do it again in a heartbeat.

The clip of Marx's comments made during the Zoom call was shared to social media by local Colorado 9NEws anchor Kyle Clark, who wrote in the caption of his post, "GOP Gov nominee Victor Marx told backers on a Zoom call last night that he doesn’t regret slamming his wife into a door to teach her a lesson about self-defense. ‘I’d do it again,’ Marx said. Marx says she fake cried and physicality is just the nature of their relationship."

In that clip, Marx can be heard telling his supporters, "This is the dumbest thing. And same thing with me grabbing my wife, pushing her against the door."

"Show the before and after. They don’t want the full truth: that my wife was fake crying, suckered me in. And I was like, 'Oh my gosh, are you okay?' And she does a spin back kick in my luggage. I was like, 'Okay, you actually can’t protect yourself.'"

At that point, his wife pops into the screen, grabs Marx, and adds, "I did a weird choke."

"You’re making me flinch, huh? You guys, I mean, people have called us the real Mr. and Mrs. Smith: black belts, training," the Colorado gubernatorial candidate went on. "I’m sitting there. How many of, you know, how many wives, you know, actually grab a backpack, put a tomahawk, magic vision, and put a grenade in their coat pocket? We’re not normal."

"So I’d do it again. I’d do everything again, except get that close to her and let her kick me, because she’s sneaky. So, it’s just nuts."

Even without considering the domestic violence, Marx is a highly controversial and, frankly, rather bizarre candidate, drawing national headlines over and over again for his wildly unhinged claims, including the claim that he's killed an undisclosed number of people and regularly conducts exorcisms. Marx serves as the head of a ministry in Colorado that claims to rescue endangered children and Christians from overseas.

Despite his craziness being so abundant that he's grabbing up media cycles, he's not actually considered a viable contender in Colorado's gubernatorial race. So much so that RealClearPolitics isn't even tracking him.
