During today's Minnesota Senate race, Republican candidate Michele Tafoya refused to say if she would join Donald Trump on stage during a campaign event.
Democratic candidate Peggy Flanagan has a 3-4 point lead as the midterms close in.
During their debate, the moderator repeatedly asked if she'd join Trump on stage if he came to stump for her.
Tafoya's responses were word salad.
MODERATOR: President Donald Trump suggested last night that he might come to Minnesota in the closing days of the campaign.
Would you join him onstage?
TAFOYA: Listen, I am running a campaign that includes voters from all over the political spectrum.
I want to invite Kamala Harris voters into this campaign. I want to invite Donald Trump voters into this campaign. I want to invite, in fact, we have an ad dropping, a lot of Democrats crossing over to vote for this campaign.
They are all welcome to join in this campaign for change because the option to vote for Peggy Flanagan is an option to accept a person who has failed in eight years as lieutenant governor, second in command of this state where we have seen fraud and failing test scores and spiking crime.
MODERATOR: Yes or no, would you appear onstage with the president?
TAFOYA: I am talking to Minnesota's Minnesotans.
Theirs is the only endorsement that I care about.
So that's a no.
How anyone in Minnesota would vote for a Trump acolyte after he unleashed ICE agents to violently attack and murder several innocent Minnesotans for protesting is remarkable.
