Yes, a Big Banker was finally arrested, and terminated by Bank of America. Sadly, the case has nothing to do with mortgage fraud or illegal foreclosures.
Kirk A. Simmons, 59, of Newark, Delaware was arrested last month by the Del. Child Predator Task Force and now faces federal charges of attempted online enticement of a minor.
Simmons, a former Bank of America vice president, was taken into federal custody Wednesday pending a detention hearing set for September 3rd. He faces a minimum mandatory 10 years in prison and up to life behind bars if convicted on the federal enticement charge.
"Simmons was arrested in July when he arrived at a Newark motel expecting to have sex with a 13-year-old girl, police said. He had responded to an ad on an adult social-networking site and made arrangements with the girl's father.
However, there was no 13-year-old girl or father, both were creations of investigators looking for child predators.
When Simmons arrived for his expected encounter July 18, police said he brought along a laptop and camera. Investigators said Simmons admitted he intended to engage in sexual activity with the 13-year-old and take photos of the encounter."
Terminated by Bank of America after his arrest in July, the former market information manager for Bank of America also worked as an in-home private tutor to high school students.
