Steve Swallow - One of the world's greatest living Jazz Bass players - and that's no exaggeration.


Judging from the number of truly astounding performances that have been broadcast and preserved in November, this past London Jazz Festival has been a watershed year and an embarrassment of riches for Jazz fans all over the world. For a few days last month, the London Jazz Festival played host to some of the greatest names currently filling halls and clubs.

Last week we had the brilliant pairing of Archie Shepp and Joachim Kuhn. This week it's the Steve Swallow Quintet, recorded at Queen Elizabeth Hall on November 13th by BBC Radio 3 and featured on their weekly Jazz On 3 series.
