Elena Pavlova - Sayin' it.

Sometimes you make discoveries of new artists and you have to sit with them for a while, let them get into your brain before you decide if they're doing it for you. Not so with Elena Pavlova. My friend Sergey sent a link to her site earlier today and I was instantly blown away by what a major talent this young woman is.

She plays sax and she's been doing it for a while. Clearly, there is a very interesting Jazz scene going on in the Ukraine, and Pavlova who is somewhere in her mid-twenties, has her own point of view and brings some intense and brilliant chops to the party.

Tonight's track, Mind, came out literally a few hours before I posted this and it grabbed me within ten seconds of hitting the "play" button.

Right now she's put together a group called Eco Jazz Project which she is working out mixing a lot of different styles into one cohesive unit.

If tonight's track is any indication where this thing is headed, I would say the ride is going to be quite amazing.

I have the sneaking suspicion we're going to be hearing a lot from Elena Pavlova in the coming months.

You heard her here first. Check out her MySpace page and "like" her on Facebook. It's the least you can do until an album comes out.
