Martha & The Vandellas - One of the vanguard of the Girl Group invasion of the '60's.


You can't do a nod to Soul without acknowledging the massive contribution the Girl Group genre made during the 1960's. And one of the most successful groups who helped put Motown Records on the map was Martha & The Vandellas, who churned out hit after hit, almost without stop, from 1962-1972.

Tonight it's a hit from 1965. You've Been In Love Too Long has been covered successfully by a number of artists, including a sizable hit for Bonnie Raitt. But Martha Reeves and The Vandellas had the original and it was their fourth straight hit in less than two years.
