Just when you think there aren't any new lows to sink to for Tucker Carlson and his rag, The Daily Caller, well... think again. This Wednesday they sent a 16-year-old intern to question the White House about whether the President of the United States was providing protection to George Zimmerman and his family.

Gabe Finger, a 16-year-old intern at The Daily Caller, asked White House spokesman Jay Carney if President Barack Obama was providing protection to George Zimmerman and his family. Carney informed the boy that such protection was the duty of Florida authorities and that Obama had spoken out against violence.

“So they’re on their own?” the intern responded.

“You can editorialize all you want, and I have no doubt that you will, but that is a ridiculous statement,” Carney said.

In a joint statement, Daily Caller co-founders Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel defended the decision have a high school student ask questions at a White House press briefing.

“Some reporters in Washington are asking why The Daily Caller sent our intern Gabe Finger to the White House press briefing this afternoon,” they said. “Talk about missing the point. The real question is, why did it take a 16-year-old intern to raise an obvious and important question that the White House press corps should have asked days ago? We don’t care how old Gabe Finger is. It doesn’t matter to us what his credentials are. All we care about is how well he does his job. Today he did it a lot better than most White House reporters.”

Chris Hayes discussed this incident and other reaction by the right-wing media to the George Zimmerman verdict with his guests Eric Boehlert and Joy Reid. As they explained, it's just been one long string of attacks and the character assassination of Trayvon Martin, along with feigned concern for crime within the black community to distract from the topic at hand.

As they discussed, first off, the right is lying when they say no one on the left cares about the crime in our inner cities or wants to do anything about it. And then when someone does propose changing the laws to try to fix the problems, they fight it tooth and nail. They're interested in the race-baiting to keep us fighting among ourselves and divided, and that's about it.
