On June 16th, the funk world lost one of its most beloved musicians when Garry Shider succumbed to cancer at the age of 56. Known as 'Starchild' and 'Diaperman' to his fans, Shider was a long time member and musical director of the venerable P-Funk family, where he was featured prominently in the hit songs like, "Cosmic Slop," "Getting to Know You," and "One Nation Under a Groove".
