Tonight's music club is a solo classical guitar arrangement of a Jobim tune by Roland Dyens. Dyens is known for his skill at improvising and adapting pieces for solo guitar, with this recording being one of the finer examples of his style. He takes an otherwise slow, intimate piece and puts a whole new energy behind it with the rhythmic and harmonic alterations that he makes to it. The most noticeable change here is that he increases the tempo, increasing the tension somewhat. But this is compounded by the dissonances that he substitutes for some of the original harmonies, which really makes it his own.
