Fire Fighters Union President Sets Tweety Straight On Rudy Giuliani's Failures
By Logan Murphy Wednesday Jul 11, 2007 12:32pm
We posted this video earlier and on Wednesday's "Hardball", Chris Matthews spoke with Howard Schaitberger, President of the International Association of Fire Fighters about the Rudy myth and his failures before and after 9/11. Tweety did his best to paint Schaitberger and the union as a left wing group, accusing him of going after Rudy simply because he's a Republican.

Schaitberger schools Matthews on how Rudy failed to get adequate radios to the fire fighters before 9/11 and then halted the recovery effort, pulling fire fighters from the rubble of the World Trade Center just 24 hours after recovering millions of dollars worth of gold from a safe from the basement. Matthews still didn't get it, even after Schaitberger told him to walk into any NYFD station and ask them how they feel about America's Mayor...

And this man wants to be OUR president?
Quick Question
What is it with idiots who park their vehicles and sit there idling for an hour while they guzzle down wendy's with a cell phone glued to their ear?
Can someone explain the logic?
Rudy is no hero - but of course HE likes to tell us that he is. The firefighters have been standing up to this hypocrisy for quite some time. I'm glad the news is getting out.
Being in the right place at the right time is not heroic. In fact, there's plenty this man did to cause harm to the real heroes - the firefighters.

Tweety was being willfully obtuse at best. It took him WAY too long before the light clicked on what the FF was saying: the only reason ANY recovery was going on at ground zero was to get to the gold. Once the gold was found, it was all over. Tweety looked like an even bigger fool than usual.
"Schaitberger told him to walk into any NYFD station and ask them how they feel about America’s Mayor"
Can someone on the east coast do this and post it to you tube? Please.
Lord have mercy on me if i am wrong. The hypocracy of Republicans logically makes former president Bill Clinton an angel. How low can they go? From young boys to prostitutes and treason. Jesus!!
Schaitberger better prepare himself for a GOP swiftboating.
This shithead can't shut up and let the guy talk...
I don't think Tweety has the mental capacity to be set straight on this issue. It was a valiant attempt to set him straight, though.
Tweety was twisting himself into knots.
You can always tell when his spin isn't working...he furrows his brow and get that confused look on his face. Kinda like the President does.
Gold Bars? Thats a new one for me. They stopped the search for human remains at the WTC site after they found the last "gold Bar"...?
Maybe thats why Giuliani didn't go to many firfighter funerals. He was worried about those Gold Bars.
If thats not typical republican, I don't know what is.
Clearly if he opposes Rudy he must be a "liberal" and therefore this is a partisan thing and therefore we can all be skeptical.

Ruthless People @ 8:
Has Rudy hired the Bush bots that Saint McCain had to jettison since his campaign got flushed down the toilet?
Chris,
Are you daft you complete friggin' tool? It took you seven reiterations of the gold bars and the removal of remains to get the connection! Jesus! You are a goddamned fool!
Then you end it all with your tongue-tied idiocy of a Philly thing with the name Harold (not Howard) routine! You're a despicable toad...
The connection is obvious even to a two year old!
Rudy is an opportunist and you're not a journalist.
Matthews is playing deliberately dumb here and he looks like an idiot.
How many times did he ask about the gold bars? Pretending he didnt know what he was talking about.
Compare that interview to his "on bended knee" cowering before whitehouse officials.
What a knob.
It's a powerful argument. Is it gaining any traction among the GOP?

Oh, Hey! Chris, I get it, let me 'splain it to yah.

So you see Chris it's not about Dems and Repugs, it's about the Firefighters and Guliani.

I agree with dakine01 (#5) Chris was acting like a block head. Acting as though he didn't get the message the guy was talking about. My dog caught on before Chris did. I think he was faking it (Chris, not my dog) He wanted to make it look like the message was so far fetched that it wasn't sensible. Of course this is the candidate that Chris thought was god's gift just a few weeks ago.
Why is it that after all this time I never heard the "Gold Bar" connection on CNN, or their affiliated Blog sites like ABlog?
WTF is going on here?

Why doesn't anyone ever call these guys out on this crap? I can't believe the guy didn't just pause, stare tweety in the eye and ask "What, are you a moron or something?"

Could somebody explain to me where Matthews got the name "Tweety?"

Good lord; A 6 year old could understand the connection between searching for the gold, and calling the search off when it was found, leaving bodies to remain. Yet Tweety is confused by it?
L.A. Confidential @ 3:
Yeah, that's on topic.
Tweety's man-crush and goo-goo eyes for Rudy is downright creepy. Almost as creepy as his obsession with the Clinton's sex lives. He's a clown and his political viewpoints matter only to the DC cocktail beltway crowd and their sick ilk.
Well, I will allways remember that Giuliani, the NY Mayor, walked out of the WTC and hundreds of NY fire fighters did not.

Nickname for Chris Matthews, host of 'Hardball.' His staff nicknamed him Tweety Bird because of the shade of yellow he dyes his hair. First divulged at mediawhoresonline.com
There was a time when I watched his program but, after seeing the same people over and over again, spouting the same two sided talking points, you come to the realization that his show should be called "politically correct hardball" or "softball" and just doesn't deserve your time.
They might as well add the term "swift-boating" to the dictionary.

Did the guest complete a single sentence without Tweety interrupting? Is this what passes for an interview these days?

A HA! Now I get it. I can close that little chapter in my life now.
Did anyone see his show the night his wife was his guest? She's smart as hell and he never once talked over her when she was speaking. He was like a pet puppy.
I think he is fearful of strong women, let's say like Hillary. I think he resents that his wife can control him and that's why he gets all weak in the knees about strong manly men. He wishes he was one of them.
Just my own little analysis.
Tweety on Nantucket TV last week.

So....Rudi Giuliani got the message to leave the WTC and the firefighters didn't.
Clearly Rudi's radio worked.
At last the firefighters are able to put truth to Giuliani's lying legend. He wasn't a hero at all. He was probably looking for a bonus from the bank and hotly pursued the bullion. This is a huge issue and will peal off support from every American because it shows that Guiliani is a fraud. The man walked around all day, glad to be alive, but he had put his offices in the buildings that came down. HE HAD NOWHERE TO COOP AND HIDE. That radio loss killed 121 men and the stopping of the firefighter's active search made recovery stop and familiies of loved ones suffered even further. Bush was awol, but Giuliani really wasn't as effective as a mayor should have been.
Pissed of patricia -- watch the end of the video linked @ #41, he proclaims that women will be the reason Hillary wins in '08, because how can mothers look the daughters in the eye ever again if they don't vote for her.
Just like "bullhorn Bush" standing on the rubble with a stagecrafted firefighter, Guliani is a fraud and a cheat.
Matthews always sounds like he's in a hurry to get an interview over. The continual butting-in and not allowing the interviewee to complete his point would be considered poor journalism, not to mention bad manners, in my country. Why is this guy such a media icon in the US?
Tweety is a silly man, with a giant bullhorn.
I can't stand to watch this idiot because he's always cutting off or interrupting his guests. "The Beard" on CNN is starting to do the same thing.
I went to the site, but couldn't find what to click to watch the video. All I saw was a photo.
I can't believe this is the first time this news has been broadcast nationally!
I've mentioned all these facts here before and been called a conspiracy nut.
Still waiting for someone to ask Roody where he was the morning of 911- tho he has publicly mentioned it in passing...
Tweety: *whiny* "Harold" "Haaaaaaaarold" thats a hard name to pronounce. "Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaarold".
Rudy was just interested in rewarding the radio contracts to a well connected campaign doner. These republicans have to raise more money then democrats to win an election because democrats are populists, and when it comes down to it republicans really only care about winning elections.
Why is Matthews so hostile? Surely he had heard allof this before. I had.
Is he so inveted in Rudymania that he can't see what a train wreck this paltroon would be if elected?
If Rudy and Bush are heroes for being in office when the terrorists struck, shouldn't we worship Herbert Hoover for being in office when the stock market crashed?

Wow! Matthews was desperate not to let the man finish a single thought uninterrupted.
Don't be surprised if the GOP gets FDNY firefighters who support Giuliani and who support the Republican party to respond. It won't be hard. FDNY is not the International Association of Firefighters . FDNY are mostly Republican and they backed Bush in 2004. Very strongly. I have known quite a few firefighters (relatives, neighbors, spouses and boyfriends of friends, etc) and they are generally politically conservative. FDNY draws heavily from Long Island and Staten Island. I can't think of firefighter I've ever met who was a Democrat -- and being an Irish New Yorker who went to Catholic schools, I've met a lot of FDNY firemen.
I would like to hope the situation will change, but FDNY is like Kansas -- they do what's not in their best interest. A lot of it has to do with racism, though. If FDNY becomes more integrated and has a composition more like NYC's composition, that will change.
'Course Tweety gave no mention to the fact that Rudy ordered the illegal rapid removal of most of the Ground Zero rubble pile, thereby precluding serious forensic chemical analysis of the structural steel, even if only for improving future building codes. This removal occurred over the strenuous objections of the firemen performing the recovery operation, since the WTC was obviously a massive crime scene. The 911 Omission Commission distinctly avoided any scientific study of the buildings' physical remains.
Funny how the steel girders and beams conveniently broke apart into segments that could be quickly loaded onto trucks and then onto barges destined for recycling facilities in China.
He doesn't have a chance of winning anyway.
Looks pretty good in a dress though
Matthews LOVES "Americas Mayor" He has been sucking him ever since 9/11. I have never liked the term
"Americas Mayor" Not even when they first started using it. I never liked him. I don't live in NY state but never liked him.. Every time I saw him he just looked smarmy to me. But he was mayor for a long time so I thought maybe it was just me. I'm glad to see my "gut instinct" (you know the thing we're using now to warn for impending terroist attacks) were right. He is smarmy.
I lived in NYC on 9/11 and the only reason Rudy was out on the streets is because he insisted on putting NYC's Office of Emergency Management (OEM) in the World Trade Center. He was told not to do it by everyone including the Secret Service.
After the towers fell that day, he moved his command center to a hospital - New York University Medical Center. The hospital immediately began getting bomb threats. Smart idea, Rudy, to put doctors and nurses and hospital patients in jeopardy by your very presence. Rumors spread that a car bomb had exploded in NYU's parking lot (untrue). Giuliani decided to move his command center again -- to Bellevue, which is right next door to NYU Medical Center. The difference between the 2 hospitals? NYU is private and Bellevue is public. All the insured patients go to NYU, all the uninsured and Medicaid patients go to Bellevue. I guess Rudy figured if he had to put patients lives in danger, it was better to do it to the ones with shitty or no insurance.
Chris Matthews, you're an asshole! Rude, ignorant, and absolutely STUPID!!
Mr. Shaitberger, thank you for your incredible dignity at not ripping matthews head of every time he interrupted you while you were answering the very questions he asked. I appreciate you and your firefighters and all those you intereviewed standing with your courage and sharing the truth with everyone. One thousand thank-yous, Sir.

You hit the nail on the head! I saw the show that night and now I can see why Tweety won't bring his wife back on the show. He doesn't want the competition.
When it comes to Rudy, I think its a rather ironic case of:
Radio killing the Video star.
Tweety tries to make this into a political (read: Anti-Republican) issue. But he backs right down when the Union president makes it clear it ain't about anything but Rudy Guiliani's incompetence, greed and callous disregard.
Hi, welcome to Whiffleball. I'm Chris Matthews.
Mr. Firefighter Man, you seem to be implying that Rudy didn't do all he had to do to protect firefighters on 9/11. I don't get it, I don't understand it. You seem to be implying something about irrelevant gold bars and the aborted search for bodies. But I gotta tell ya, I have Rudy's response here. Rudy says, "No. Uh-uh. The firefighter man is wrong. I did everything right." Now, really, Mr. Firefighter Man, how can you argue with that? You can't. You just keep mentioning gold bars, which makes no sense. And you say that the equipment didn't work. But come on, how could it work? I mean, what would it take to make the equipment work? You expect your walkie talkies to penetrate walls? And what's with gold bars? These are serious accusations that I really don't understand.
I'm Chris Matthews, and I don't know how to pronounce the name, "Harold." Cuz I'm from Philly.
Next guest, please.
Guiliani was a coward in the days following 911. How so? The site was completely toxic, ask the people from the state and city boards of health. The "heroic" firemen that were scratching at the pile of rubble were doing so because they were and are men of action and courage. That comes with the firefighter package. What also comes with the firemen who were scooping buckets of rubble and passing it down the pile is what Howard Schaitberger was saying about not leaving anyone behind. What Guilliani knew was there were no survivors and that the firemen were doing unnecessary harm to themselves. Ask the people at the health dept. about how much harm was being done. What Guilliani had to know then was that the media generated story line of the entire event was playing out in such a way that we had to recognize and announce who the heroes were, publicly display them and then the fucktard politicians used them for photo ops and political gains. Guliani had a responsibility, early on, to pull the fire fighters, off the pile, even if they went kicking and screaming. He needed to get them out of there, but Guiliani had no balls and he did have ambitions. He sacrificed lives by letting the firemen stay there. And the whole event played out for an immature and narcissistic viewing audience and an exploitive media that couldn't just tell the news, they had to frame the news with tragedies, villians, heroes and vengeance. Tweety is part of that lying media circus back then. I figure that he was busting Schaitberger's chops and interupting so much because he knows he played a part in the sham that 9/11 turned into and didn't want the focus of the discussion to turn on him, therefore indicating what a coward he is.

I can barely listen to a CLIP of Tweety. He talks LOUD, interrupts points the guest is making .... SO annoying. And, probably the worst, he interrupts several times "trying to figure out what they're saying" while any viewer with an IQ over 75 KNOWS what the guest is saying. It is time for Tweety to go. Replace him with David Shuster.
Backwoods @ 77:
That's the biggest problem with the whole event, next to the faulty equipment.
Sorry! But I felt that the firefighters were traumatized by the event and should have been removed from the site for their own good.
There should have been immediate trauma treatment and grief counseling for the Firefighters, but none of their leaders did any thinking as well as none of the politicians.
The media doing their best to beat the hero drums was additionally counterproductive. I worked in Manhattan and I can tell you that the island stank below midtown with a horrific burning chemical stench. and at ground zero it was strong enough to overwhelm you several days later (yes, I went there for myself, not to confirm, but to mourn).
I couldn't believe the flimsy paper 'masks' that were given to the volunteers.
Can sombody please knock Rudy's Dick out of Matthew's mouth! Matthew's is a clown along with the rest of the circus of buck suckers. Owned punks all.
Tweety Turd finally "gets it": "OK, so what your saying is that thru the smokescreen they mistook bars of gold and silver for remains and thought they had recovered all of them and so Rudy ordered them to stop. That makes sense."
Up top Tweety said that al-qaeda bombed the World Trade Center in 1993. I didn't know that. I'm glad he cleared that up for America.
"Why are you going after a Republican candidate before we even have a Republican nomination?"
Nope, not being a dick at all.
You just know Rudy is gonna want to go on Hardball and respond in person. I wonder if MSNBC will let him (since they'd probably have to give equal time to everyone else who wants to be prez). Giuliani is very good at rebutting enemies. That's because he made countless enemies in New York, so he has lots of practice.
Take it from a New Yorker, the man is certifiable. I'm not saying that flippantly. He has a serious personality disorder. He will make an enemy out of somebody who is dying to be his pal, his ally.Bloomberg is liked so much in NY not because he is a great mayor (he isn't-- the city is turning into one boring luxury high rise with no talent or edge), but because he's not crazy. He doesn't go around picking fights, and that's a real relief to people after having been bludgeoned by Giuliani for the better part of a decade. NY is like an abused wife who was so battered that she is thrilled to take a schmoe for a second husband.

[Deleted. 9/11conspiracy stuff here, and you know it-Sitemonitor]
There should have been immediate trauma treatment and grief counseling for the Firefighters
There was. I know some therapists who did it. It started pretty much immediately. Due to the understanding of PTSD we gained from Vietnam vets, grief and trauma counselors are immediately dispatched to catastrophes and on 9/11, the call went out for counsellors that very evening. Many responded and firefighters were given access to trauma and grief counseling right away. Many did not want to take it, but it was there for them and it still is. A close friend of mine is a psychotherapist who had a firefighter as his patient for years. The firefighter had been out of therapy for 2 years when 9/11 happened. My friend called the firefighter and told him he could come in any time to talk, free of charge, and therapy could last as long as he wanted to go on, just give a call. He never did. He told my friend that counseling was available for him through the city if he wanted it, but he didn't want it. He decided to travel around the country instead, attending parades and memorials. It was a big thing for towns all over America to ask for FDNY members to come to their parades and memorials and tree ighting ceremonies for about 2 years after 9/11. The firefighter went to as many of these as he could get to and said he felt it was therapy for him.
You cannot make someone go for therapy. Even if you did, it would be counterproductive.
BTW, there were also doctors, nurses and physical therapists who volunteered at Ground Zero for months starting on the night of 9/11. Later, Mt Sinai Medical center monitored the health of recovery workers at Ground Zero for almost 2 years.

There's a saying..."you're not learning if your talking". Mathews, shut the fuck up and learn something when you interview somebody!
Christ, Chris Matthews is an IDIOT!
It's not a complex point! If he'd shut that slobbery mouth for 5 seconds he might "get it".
Is Chris Matthews really that dense he can't figure out Schaitberger's point abut the gold. He then goes on to cut him off over and over again AND the icing on the cake is when he mispronounces his name and claims it's hard to pronounce. What a jack***.
Just to flesh out Guiliani's cowardice story a little more: so even as the firemen were going to the "mound" to search for whatever they could find, they were being issued masks. In fact caseload of masks and protective equipment were being donated and shipped in right from the start. That was a good part of the reaction to 911. In fact, another good part was that there were sensible people everywhere on the ground, Right away, trying to do what was necessary and appropriate at ground zero, working till they couldn't stay awake any more, sleeping for a couple of hours, and then getting back in for another 20 hour stint. Good people trying to plan. People who were trained to plan. In other words: Crisis managers, in touch with the entire nation through the internet and fax messaging and phone, in fact, the entire world was at the disposal of these people for advice on what to do, even the fucking Iranians wanted to help. But the planners couldn't know that the political sensibilities, motivations and inaction of the shitheads that control this country were forces that were inevitably driving wise decision making off to the side, just like Richard Clark and his report in August that this was going to happen, was dead-ended. So once again Guiliani was praised for some of the superficial bullshit that he was doing as the mayor of NYC, (a very important job) and if you look below the surface of the myth that the media was creating because the media figured that a competent, heroic mayor in a time of great crisis was an essential ingredient, the firemen were ripping the respirators off because they were, annoyed, uncomfortable, careless or macho (read "Invulnerable") and the firemen were locked into this fatalism, (which is quite similar to going to battle), thinking that nothing mattered but that they might save somebody. Now these firemen are dying and any fool could have told you that that was going to happen. I saw that and I was hundreds of miles away. Giuliani was right there. He knew what was inevitable and the fucker turned his back on the firemen. Finally, there is a video shot of the moron (the shrub)with his arm around the shoulder of some fireman, saying "we're gonna get those guys, dead or alive" and for that moment, that video photo op, considering the last five years of history, the shrub will have to be boiled slowly, starting at the feet and slowly lowered into a cauldron of boiling water, all night long. You want to support those troops? Especially the ones that have died and are mutilated for life? You don't have much of a choice.

chris is one obtuse m.f.
"On Monday, November 11, Giuliani and his officials were again confronted by 200 angry
firefighters and bereaved families at a meeting. Giuliani was accused again and again of
running a “scoop and dump” operation. One widow protested: “Last week my husband
was memorialized as a hero, and this week he’s thought of as landfill?” When Van Essen
stammered that the department had been overwhelmed, a widow replied, “Stop saying
you are overwhelmed! I am overwhelmed! I have three children and my husband is
dead!” Dr. Hirsch of the “biological stain” theory discussed below tried to defend
Giuliani by arguing that nothing resembling an intact body was being found any longer,
but he was shouted down by firemen who knew from their experience on the pile that this
was not so. Van Essen was forced to concede that, based on photographic evidence he
personally examined, remains were indeed still be found that had to be “considered intact
bodies.” (Van Essen 270-271)
"Giuliani’s rush to eradicate the crime scene without regard to the preservation of human
remains thus served two important goals. He was able to destroy much pertinent
evidence, and he succeeded in throwing the firefighters on the defensive and playing
them off against the police, the construction workers, and other groups. He was able to
split the firefighters themselves. The firefighters were tied into knots emotionally, and
were left with no time or energy to pursue the issue of justice for their heroic fallen
comrades, which could only have been served by directly raising the issue of the
indications of controlled demolition in numerous points of the World Trade Center
complex.Nor was the cynical oligarchical strategy limited to Giuliani: at the 9/11
commission’s last set of hearings in New York City, the FDNY, NYPD, and other line
departments of the city were mercilessly baited by the likes of former Navy Secretary
John Lehman, who told them that their operational coordination was inferior to that of a
Boy Scout troop. So far the firefighters have not been able to mount a challenge to the
9/11 myth, which necessarily portrays them as incompetent, in spite of their heroism and
huge losses. Only by demolishing the myth, only by unearthing the story of controlled
demolition, can the immense historical merits of the firefighters be duly recognized."

28 AF_Comm_Guy, no one answered your question on how Matthews got the name Tweety. Maybe you're not from the US, but a famous duo of cartoon characters was Tweety Bird and Sylvester the Cat. Tweety was a canary with a big fat yellow head comparable to Matthews'. Actually I think Matthews has Sylvester -like characteristics too (at least one) because like Sylvester, Matthews tends to end up with spittle all over his face after speaking.
Hmmm... maybe thats why they call it Shitball . . .
The term "America's mayor" should only be used in quotes. He is NOT America's Mayor.
Most of America rejects his lying hypocritical ass.

Conio Sancho...can somebody throw one of those gold bars on Tweety's head, please??? Shut F UP and let Haword talk
I don’t care for Guliani, but I wouldn’t trust a union firefighter with my life. Make no mistake these guys are out for themselves and no one else.
Remember it was the FDNY boys who, to protest the closing of unneeded firehouses, began intentionally driving slower to emergencies in order to give inflate response times and give the false impression that more firefighters were needed. Of course you never hear them mention that an average NY firefighter is only involved in firefighting related activities 5% of the time. Other than that they’ve got their lazy “I’m union” asses in a recliner!
FDNY has continuously used 911 to their advantage. They were selling T-shirts within weeks and doing everything in their power to give the impression that firefighters were the only ones who died in 911. Meanwhile screwing other public safety workers out of compensation.
As far as Shitburger and the IAFF. HA! When a recent article came out in either JAMA or NEJM showing that heart attacks were by far the leading cause of firefighter deaths, the IAFF’s response wasn’t to push for stricter health and fitness requirements, but to blame the heart attacks on a lack of equipment and not enough firefighters. The study clearly showed that firefighters are generally in worse physical condition than the average person. See my recliner comment above to figure out why.
I wouldn't vote for Rudy, but only a fool would trust the IAFF lemmings and their BS-filled propaganda machine.
EyesWideOpen @ 115:
Good think you said you opened with "I don't care for Guliani" and then concluded with "I wouldn't vote for Rudy." Otherwise, we'd suspect you for a Rudy sympathizer, you hack.
The FDNY were selling T-shirts to raise some money for their fallen brothers and sisters and to help the families; They needed the money too, seeing as some 9/11 responders had to wait for Michael Moore to take them to Cuba to get some medical treatment and 6 years after the incident too. You and your poor attempt at smearing the FDNY disgust me.
Why didn’t the firefighters have equipment that worked? The Giuliani administration had in fact bought new radios less than a year before the September 11 attacks. The $33 million deal was struck with Motorola Corporation under a no-bid contract.
The radios, which were bought sight-unseen and without the field-testing that is required under the Fire Department’s regulations, were designed for use by intelligence agencies, with encryption functions that have no use in firefighting.
These radios were issued to firefighters and then recalled within barely one week after widespread failures, including one in which a probationary firefighter nearly lost his life.
While New York’s firefighter unions called for a grand jury investigation into the deal, a convincing explanation of why these radios were purchased in this extraordinary manner has never been forthcoming. The transaction is consistent with a number of contracts struck by the Giuliani administration with the apparent aim of rewarding political allies or currying favor within Republican circles as part of the mayor’s positioning himself for a run for national office.
The end result was that firefighters—many of whom were resting after climbing up flights of stairs of the North Tower—did not have radios that could pick up the order to get out of the building.
In a despicable attempt to cover up his own responsibility, Giuliani has endlessly extolled the firefighters’ undoubted bravery, falsely claiming that they deliberately ignored the evacuation order because they were “standing their ground” against the terrorists. In his book Leadership, he went so far as to compare them to the captain who prefers to “go down with the ship.”
Today, some four and a half years after September 11, the Fire Department is utilizing the faulty Motorola radios, which have been reprogrammed but still cause problems. The company has discontinued their production because of design flaws. Police and fire dispatchers in New York City remain on different computer systems, thereby retaining the delays and duplication reflected in the 911 tapes. According to the city, remedying this problem will take at least another three years.
Given this record, Bloomberg’s uncompromising opposition to the release of the 911 tapes is readily understandable. They draw attention once again to what is at the very least the city’s extreme negligence, and, in the case of the Giuliani administration’s FDNY radio contract, suspicion of criminality.

Wouldn't it be nice if Tweety would just quiet down once in a blue moon and listen? He repeats press releases as if they are beyond reproach, and then hits his guests over the head with them as if they were solid gold.
TWEEDY LOVES RUDY'S SAUSAGE. RUDY GETS HIM HARD ESPECIALLY BECAUSE HE IS AN ETHNIC GUY WHO TALKS TOUGH ON TERROR. JERK IT HARD TWEEDY YOU FUCKING PUNK

Oh God that is nauseating isn't it? Instead of taking responsibility like a real leader, this clown tries to duck out of his failures by inventing shameless myths that seek to capitalize on the courage and reputation of the very people he betrayed.
And this guy wants to lead America? No fucking way. He has utterly disqualified himself for the job with such a cowardly, hypocritical and unconscionable falsehood.
nincompoop @ 108:
Or how about at the end, when he claims 'a lot of people are suprised by this',... not NYers who had to live through this every day,... he sicked the NYPD on the FDNY & threw 11 heroes of 9/11 in prison so he could get his no bid contractors in there for the clean up,...
This is the way he'll run the entire country if he gets a chance.
Otay @ 118:
I'm inclined to agree with the poster above who said that Tweety's sudden inability to understand a very obvious point - that Guiliani shamelessly pulled the recovery program the moment the gold was discovered, with a transparently phony excuse - was Tweety's attempt to cast the claim as outlandish and bizarre. His brush-off of the interviewee at the end underlined that.
The lesson here is that Presidentiial candidates upon whom the imprimateur of the power elites has been bestowed are essentially beyond anything but token criticism. That's how come you can end up with a bumbling crook like the incumbent occupying the White House. In any other Western democratic system, a GWB couldn't get within a country mile of power. Candidates with such transparent flaws - of which Guiliani is another example - simply couldn't do it without the acquiescence - if not outright collusion - of a mass media that is basically in bed with them.
OMG I just took a poll on the internet - who would you vote for Hillary or Rudy? And Rudy was ahead by almost 10%. I tried to go back and find the link to post here but the page is gone. It was a depressing reality check to be sure. How can anybody think Rudy would make a better president than Hillary? Pretty damn scary.
