Mike's Blog Round Up

From Cheney's heart to Bush's backside and Hillary's cleavage, the DC political anatomy watch reaches a new low.

A new PBS Now segment shows that "vote caging" wasn't just Goodling-speak for a direct mail technique, but was central to GOP voter suppression strategy in key 2004 battleground states. The sum of all fears in 2008? Hackable voting machines.

The right-wing campaign continues against TNR's Baghdad Diarist Private Scott Thomas Beauchamp for his portrayal of U.S. soldiers' cruelty to Iraqis, each other and even dogs. That no doubt cheered rooftop canine waterboarding enthusiast Mitt Romney as he embarked on his latest "average guy" makeover.

A new BBC documentary claims that George W. Bush's grandfather Prescott sought to overthrow FDR in 1933. JM Bell concludes the family's dictatorial tendencies skip a generation. Bush's words and deeds suggest not.

Conventional wisdom says the Hillary-Obama clash over rogue state diplomacy warms cold conservative hearts. But is their battle royale an opening for Al Gore or maybe just a museum?

While some scoff at Oscar the Kitty of Doom, others wonder if the Feline Grim Reaper has an ulterior motive. Meanwhile, Dood Abides reports "Death Cat Begins Gonzales Vigil."

Guest blogging the Round Up this week is Jon Perr from Perrspectives. Send your links, recommendations, comments and angst to mbr AT perrspectives DOT com.

I don't see what the big deal is with Hillary Clinton's clothing. To me, this is a non issue (and I saw the picture in question) but then again we are talking about the American version of the Taliban here. To them, a little cleavage is a big deal. I guess some right wing nut case will suggest that she wear a burqa or something.

Agreed. Next thing you know we will be back in the dark ages holding our version of the Spanish Inquisition to see who is "in league with the Devil". Scratch that, we are already doing that down at Gitmo.

And of course, spin. We are already seeing more spin and propaganda this morning. Notice how fast the MSM broadcast the Iraqi football victory? Now, I'm a big time football fan but to be truthful, how many times has the MSM broadcast any football even during the world cup? Hell, I bet most Americans don't even know how the U.S. finished the last world cup, who won the cup itself, or even where it was held. Yet, the American people will know that Iraq won thats for sure and the Bush Administration will make sure of it. After all, this is about the only "good news" that has come out of Iraq for some time so the Administration is sure to amplify it.

!st we have a PBS video on voter caging and then CNN has Ken Blackwell on. This guy should be in prison. Why does the EXTREME RIGHT WING MAIN STREAM MEDIA (ERWMSM) cater to these criminals?

Yeah, they own the media, too.

Shrubuwa had a great grandfather with the middle name Prescott who seems a more ruthless, co-conspirator than his grandfather.

Just one more reason to disband and outlaw Blackwater.

If Beauchamp has the wingnuts all atwitter, what can they possibly say about Chris Hedges & Laila Al-Arian's article in The Nation (The Other War: Iraq Vets Bear Witness;

Hackable voting machines, voter caging.
Next stolen election: 08 will make 3 stolen elections.

The dems have had 7 years to change this state by state, and they haven't. Gore allowed it with barely a whimper, Kerry allowed it with barely a whimper.
Upholding our constitutional rights is a partisan issue?

If we want to exhale we'd be better to leave the country.
Fuck you. Fuck me. Fuck god.

Kudos to CPB for showing the voter fraud segment. They are the only one that will do it. CNN now means "Constitutionally Neutered Network". Their absolute lack of balls across the board is appalling.

There's a reason why Greg Palast has to work for the BBC. Bush Family Mafia operatives would prevent him from being hired by the MSM here.

And the continuing tragedy of Diebold and the GOP fighting every single attempt to secure properly voting machines is equally appalling. These are the actions of people who know they can't win a straight up, honest, popular vote. Their survival depends on criminal activity. Disgusting.

Fascist coups? Hacked voting machines? Is it still "tinfoil hatism" to suggest a conspiracy?

the bush family and all its connections to the osama bin laden family and saudi arabia, we, the American citizens, would be better off if the entire bush family did not populate the surface of the planet.

the bush family and all their repugthugs need to be in gitmo NOW.

Do not be lulled into complacency about the extent of the US-based Al Qaeda 'terrist' cells.

While the DHS and the rest of the incompetent administration has been concentrating on seizing and interrogating cheese-smuggling airline passengers, while lifting the ban on cigarette lighters (apparently in the belief that cheese is flammable), Osama has been directing his US cells to mount an insidious campaign against:

BEES.

Yes, Osama has decided to starve us into submission, because he hates freedom and democracy.

So if you see muslim terrists wearing turbans and beards (or burkhas), running around in flower patches with pool-skimming nets catching bees (butterfly nets won't trap bees), notify your local authorities, or NRA office.

That Osama, he's always at least one jump ahead of Bush.

Osama, 100. Bush, 0.

Exactly. The government doesn't want the people to know about the conspiracies of the past, so that they are unable to recognize the conspiracies of the present.

I've been wondering if C&L was going to cover this story, and it's too bad they decided to bury it in a blog roundup instead of featuring it in it's own post with it's own thread.

This story seemed bigger and more relevent to what is going on today, than the Raw Story and TP recycling that has been going on here the last couple of days.

Ahh, C&L, my favorite left wing gate-keeper.

The truth, no matter how appalling is dragged down and killed on the spot. The atrocities grow more and more malevolent, no matter how much is exposed. It just gets darker with each evil trumping the next. Our real statesmen are neutered and ineffectual.
Our democracy is dead without a doubt. Since we can only count on deeper dispossession and successful corruption, what are we waiting for? We know as much as we need to know what's happening to us.

How about something a bit more hands-on like a people's revolution and take it back like real men and women.

TDoff's picture

I can't wait until someone gets a shot of Hillary on a beach, with her butt-crack showing.

That'll suck all the air out of the MSM for at least a week.

just did some low-level scouting of the right-wing boards...

wanna know what the righties are all a-twitter about? should the GOP candidates do the YouTube thingie... many of them are on the 'Yes. They can handle the format.'; but many are of the mind that the GOP will need to preserve the dignity of the affair i.e. - no snowmen.

reading the commentary at Malkin's site, I was taken with how many of the posts revealed a deep discomfiture with the declared candidates... and how much the GOP would need to prepare for media backlash if they did a YouTube-style debate... and there was much gnashing of teeth about being unable to craft the proceedings... heh heh heh... oooo... sorry

and a funny side-comment... many of them thought that if the Democratic candidates would do the FOX debate then the GOP would do the YouTube debate... amusing that... as if there was some kind of 'I'll suffer the indignities if you will too' bargain to be made...

my personal angle? I think the Dems should have another YouTube debate, sponsored by some GREEN business, and devoted to environmental affairs and dovetailed with socio-economic concerns which could allow the candidates to show that going green would actually help the economy...

That's It! Wind-powered internment camps!

crazylove's picture

All the repugs have with their sagging '08 lineup are caracatures of themselves, and their pathetic fatmen in the bathtub at FOX. Repugs are displeased and grossed out by their own self-created distortions in the mirror.
Why should anyone respond at all to how they're flailing about bloggers or UTube. Tough shit.
Let them live in the pit of their own ugliness. Let them smell their own stench.

Poor Hillary! First it was her ankles. Not "eek! we can see them" but that they're the ankles of a middle-aged woman. Now it's her cleavage. "Eek! We can see it!"

Hopefully, they'll skip her face (not because it's the face of a middle-aged woman - eek!) and just proceed to what's in her head. Although I'm not a fan of her centrist-ThirdWay politics (and I hope she doesn't get the nomination for that reason alone), she has a very good mind, middle-aged or not.

Too bad she sold it to the deep pockets of corporatists and their lobbyists...

TDoff@21,

"That Osama, he’s always at least one jump ahead of Bush.

That's pretty good jumping for a dead guy.
Not to mention the ironically expected score.

that's what makes her dangerous
If Murdock likes her (which he does) we're in trouble if they succeed with shoving her on the dem ticket.

The GOP Voter Suppression Program is becoming more sophisticated.

Now the Gonzales DOJ has directed the FBI to review ALL US library records, issuing National Security Letters in each case, under the provisions of the 'Patriot' Act, to keep the Library-Using Voter Suppression Program program secret.

Any names of any library patron found to have checked out books containing words of two syllables or more, are being compiled on a special NSA surveillance list, in order that all their phone calls and emails be monitored, with the intent of finding an excuse to purge their names from voter lists.

The reason for the program? A poll taken by the RNC indicates that people who can comprehend words of two syllables or more are 97% more likely to vote Democratic than Republican.
