Congratulations to "The Most Annoying Liberals of 2007"
By bluegal Sunday Jan 06, 2008 6:44pm
We at Crooks and Liars are deeply disappointed that no one here made the cut. We can't even say it was an honor to be nominated, so we don't have to applaud sweetly when Daily Kos (number 9) and Huffpo (number 14) waltz up and accept their statuettes. But we can't stop scratching our heads over the inclusion of Chris Matthews (13) and Geraldo Rivera (12). They're annoying, fer sure, but liberal? WTF?
The good news is Hillary Clinton gets to finish first someplace.
In even more news that will make Jane Fonda cry, Human Events Dot Com ["Leading the Conservative Movement since 1944" -- there was a dot com in 1944?] has named Rush Limbaugh their Man of the Year. I guess he'll be around to carry their water for a little bit longer.

First!
I guess Rush mocking Michael J Fox put him over the top huh?
What a guy.
Geraldo???HUH?
What you were robbed where is KO!
I love Michael Moore. That year my 8th grade students took a district writing exam in which they had to write a letter to the person in the world they most admire. One of my students wrote to Michael Moore and referenced this moment at the Academy Awards and said "that was the bravest thing I've ever seen."
That Rush Limbaugh is anyone's man of the year blows my mind. He is such a rummy, lying fuck.
Rush Limbaugh has branded Huckabee a socialist.
I wonder if he'll commit suicide when Mike gets nominated?
Yeah......Nothing says Man ofThe Year...like mocking the terminaly i'll
This list is coming from Human Events, a right wing think tank that said that the US should bomb Iran and George Bush should be "president for life".
DAMN.....ILL......aghhhhhhh$%&**%##@!!!!
I remember when that happened. I had just switched to the channel as he was approaching the stage. I had never seen a movie awards show before. After having seen that, I realized that no one was ever going to give a speech that good ever again
This just proves that right-to-moderate is the new "liberal".
As for rush--well, he is a human event of some kind or another.
CD @ 7:
My mistake it was Richard Veigure (sp) who said that.

Do humans still go to that site?
Thanks for the clip of Moore accepting his Oscar. It took balls to say what he said at that time, and you can see the nervous expressions of from the audience. He was dead on, and to this day the best his detractors can come up with is that he's fat.
Listen to those boos. Was Moore giving that speach at The Oscars or the Republican convention? Hollywood Fred Thompson, Ahnuld and Denis Miller musta had a large constituency there that night.
Stephanie Miller and Randi Rhodes are going to be so pissed off. Two of my favorite progressive gadflies and they didn't make the cut.
Somebody's got some 'splainin' to do!!
Del Capslock @ 14:
That's OK. Moore was right then and he has only been proved even more so today. Those so called liberals sitting on their hands in the audience digusted me. I would have been on my feet applauding especially after those Republicans started booing him.
Faux News caught using fake plants in their audiences!!

Ruthless People @ 15:
Yes Yes all hail Moore for he can do no wrong.
Probably the most idiotic "top" list I have seen. In fact, it would rank no. 1 on the top 20 most idiotic lists of 2007!
CD @ 19:
We'll he's no George Bush. Sorry to disappoint.
The Conservative and Liberal labels lost all meaning to me some 10 years ago. From the first time I ever heard Rush (back in ’93 I think), I recognized those words were being used as nothing more than arbitrary name-calling in a rhetorical effort to entertain; Later, rhetorical efforts to smear.
Some meaning IS coming back though. Whenever I now hear “Conservative” I think fascist. Whenever I hear Liberal – I think fascist name-calling. Nothing more. That’s all the meaning I can muster.
You guys rock!!! With or without mention...you guys are tops in my book.

Truth & Beauty
I just went through the annoying liberal list, and while I agree that Mike Malloy is truly annoying, most of the complaints against the others sound like petty gossip. And their hate for Hillary Clinton knows no bounds, does it? Almost makes me wish she would win the nomination just because it would drive so many people whom I find repulsive insane.
What a list! They put Chirpy and Geraldo on there. And I'd hardly call Obama or Hillary liberal. Where's Amy Goodman, Naomi Klein, or Noam Chomsky?
Ruthless People @ 21:
That's right if we don't love Moore we must love W.
CD @ 26:
And if we love Moore we must love W....wait, now it's just getting confusing.
I don't care a lot for Michael Moore...although I say that and yet I admire the guy tremendously.
I guess I don't care a lot for his films SIMPLE BECAUSE they are sensational, and they make good money on very sick and sad subjects about this country.
I respect this man, because he has gonads enough to take his moment of fame and use it to call out loud "THE KING IS WEARING NO CLOTHES!!" The rest of the country snores through the worst times of our history.
So to Michael Moore, I will always tip my hat to you. Tell me that you have donated a good portion of the wealth you inherit from your efforts to worthy causes, and I'll submit your name for sainthood.
And to those that thinks it's ALL BS, my only answer to you is "shock treatment", which I'm sure is right up there with "water boarding"...whether it is torture or not is a question ....for YOU!!
Ruthless People @ 27:
...and speaking of assumptions, where exactly did I say Moore could do now wrong?
Ruthless People @ 29:
You implied that those who disagree with him him must be Republicans.
And course, Independent Democrat or simply put Repub Lieberman passed the right wing koolaid test and was recruited over to the GOP.
Odd that alot of the people on that list are not liberal at all, but labelled liberal like it is a filthy thing to be liberal. The reasons used for some of the people on the list (Bill Maher being an a#!) are fairly accurate, but calling them liberal? Not so much.
I picture rust's award plaque as a 'Large Brown T**D'.
Who is this guy?
Shit, I tried like hell to make the top ten and I didn't even get on the list. Even Geraldo made it. Dumbass list.
Most annoying to who?
I guess they don't do much pledge of allegiance in madrasas.
Ok Geraldo and Matthews, if they're "liberal", then I can begin to understand why some right-wingers call someone like Bill Clinton or Hillary Clinton socialist or borderline communist. I f-ing far to the right do you have to be to think those 2 guys are liberal?
Then of course, there's Bill Maher, who goes after liberals and Democrats every bit as hard as conservatives and Republicans, but because he insulted "Unca Dick", he's a liberal. I think it's safe to say that most of these guys didn't pass high school civics class... assuming they even took it.
DHavok @ 38: I think it's safe to say that most of these guys didn't pass high school civics class... assuming they even took it.
They couldn't find the school.
CD @ 31:
And you implied that if I meant if they were Republicans and booed Moore that Moore could do not wrong in my eyes. Don't throw stones if yours is a glass house.
I've always been a Michael Moore fan from way back. He's got a heart and a soul to match.
I've always notice a general unease from people who don't like Michael Moore because he disrupts their pretty little picture of their incomplete world views. What he shows them, they basically can't handle and wish Michael would just go away - the usual ostrich in the sand complex. I can see them boxing their ears and singing "la, la, la, la, I'm not hearing you! I'm not seeing this!"
I just figure these anti-Moore malcontents just don't get out and really see the world much. Please don't confuse them with the facts.
Thank you, Michael. We love you here on the beach where it's 71 degrees at 11 pm under starry skies.
Ruthless People @ 40:
......let's see where was it....there it is @ #20 "yes, yes all hail Moore for he can do no wrong" were you not the one who made the first assumption in our exchange?
CD @ 7:
All hail Mike Huckabee for he can do no wrong!
Most Annoying Facts of 2007
Tweety and Jerry Rivers?? Only a hardcore right winger would ever consider Tweety or Geraldo as liberal. I also love how they cherry picked quotes of posters when putting down DKOS.
I am sorry that C&L didn't make the list. It would be a badge of honor to wear proudly!
only in America can a thrice divorced, drug addicted, sex tour tourist get "man of the year" honors
bluegal, if you want to make the list next year, become a pain-in-the-ass impeachment promoter, then 'they' will really hate you.
http://www.wexlerwantshearings.com/
Take a look at who is the most snidely denigrated blog commenter on the left, Mike Meyers, and all that snark because he will not shut up about impeachment. Yes, talking about impeachment will get you hated by the right and laughed at or ignored by the left, which would give you double points for being the most annoying. Of course, you would be a hero among the premature anti-fascist crowd, but they are always the first against the wall, once democracy’s enemies regain a stranglehold on power (remember, every word you type is being recorded and ‘examined’ for possible terrrist tendencies).
http://www.wexlerwantshearings.com/
Yes, justice for criminals is now as subversive on the flabby left as the obese right. Kumbiya, everybody, kumbiya….
Ruthless People @ 40:
So what has Moore done wrong in your eyes?
Ruthless People @ 43:
At what point did I say he's nomination was a good thing?
CD @ 49:
You didn't. I was just making assumptions. See how that works?
CD @ 48:
Well, he could lay off the Happy Meals for one thing.
Ruthless People @ 51:
Yes, because make moral judgments about people based on their size is such a liberal thing to do!
"...Human Events Dot Com [”Leading the Conservative Movement since 1944″ — there was a dot com in 1944?]..."
Perhaps they meant 1934? As in June 30th, 1934.
I'd forgotten that Michael Moore got a standing ovation when he won the Oscar. Hearing boos while the cameras focused on the smiling faces of people who just stood up for him was just plain surreal.
Rusty "Rush" Limbaugh is clearly a Republican; he is not a conservative. There is a difference. My guess is he's a read a book or two by Bill Buckley and memorized a few concepts but failed to comprehend what he was reading. Maybe he liked the pictures. Yes, I know this is shocking.
Read the whole, linked thing. It would be more appropriate to call it the "list of 20 people who say things we don't like, so we're calling them icky names." Hillary's not a liberal, and Chris Mathews? Please. Besides, their angst with Mike Malloy, juxtaposed with their apparent praise for all things Coulter is, in a word, disingenuous.
When someone chooses Rush, a man who makes fun of another man with a serious illness, it says a lot about their character.
In "honorable" mentions, they put John Kerry twice. Looks like someone's holding a grudge :-)
I agree with him when he calls out Pelosi & Reid. Really, with everything this admin is getting away with, what's the difference of even having them there?
But compared to the hate speech & war mongering that comes from the 'other side', this list reads as really weak. Why support Repugs who are getting rich from making you a serf?!
If you try to leave a less than shining (or factual) comment for the 'Rush Man of the Year' on HumanEvents.com
It will be removed, trust me.
Did you read some of the other comments there? It is fucking scary that those people live in this country! Robots & Lemmings!
What an odd little list, it's top three people are right of center, not left of center. I thought Liberals were on the left???
Is this just a wierd way of trying to drive our pathetic Dem Leaders further into Repug land?
Mad
The fact that many can't see that Chris Matthews is a liberal speaks to how far left
some (maybe many) of you "progressives" are.
If Tweety is a liberal than Sylvester is a vegetarian.
