The reason for this "rebuttal" is because McCain compared Barack to Paris... they're both celebrities (and we're left to our own imaginations why that's a bad thing).

I just discovered that the press conference wasn't live, it was held apparently yesterday even though it said "live" on the screen. As I watched bush answering questions I realized what he can do after he leaves the white house. He can do impersonations of McCain. The both smile and giggle at all the wrong times.

Exactly. Her delivery isn't very good either. I've never actually heard Paris speak before; she seems to be a poor imitation of Alicia Silverstone in Clueless. It's good that she's not being complimentary to Obama! I was scared watching it the first time that she would say something overtly positive about him, making her ad political or -- truly scary -- some kind of endorsement of Obama. Instead, she hit back at McCain in a way that showed how trivial and shallow his ad was. That she's a shallow person is what makes it so freaking brilliant. It was really devoid of politics or side-taking (e.g., her "compromise" combining of off shore drilling and alternative energy comes after finding the best beach). I don't care if she did it for her own bruised sensitivities. What matters to me is that she highlighted the vapidity of McCain's. I suspect her ad will greatly overshadow McCain's.

You wake up - that wasn't my point at all. I thought it was funny, but I'm of the opinion that this is nothing more than a national distraction that the MSM will cling to ad nauseam.

Paris made this video to point out that she is not going to be a pawn of either party and that her name will not be used by either party; I certainly don't blame her for that. People on this thread seem to think this was some sort of slam on McCain and endorsement of Obama. It is neither; it a slam on the entire political process and it is critical of both candidates. She basically said, "Don't mess with the Hiltons. McCain, Don't use me to further your campaign. Obama, Don't use this response to further yours." And I think she was justified in doing so.

This is about as relevant as yesterday's 9-1-1 story about the woman receiving the wrong items at the drive-thru window. You'd never know, from the MSM, that we were at war in two countries.
