Olbermann on Scarborough's BS: "Jesus, Joe. Why don't you get a shovel?"
By SilentPatriot Monday Aug 25, 2008 4:30pm
An open mic caught Keith Olbermann last night telling Joe Scarborough to get a shovel and dig himself out of the horse crap he was dropping all over the airwaves about how confident the McCain campaign must feel right now. And thus a classic moment in live political news coverage was born.

You could see Joe Schmuck Scar turn red. What an asshat. Go Keith.
That was funny. Scarborough sure changed his tune once Olberman called his bluff.
Ha! Joey Dead Intern knows who the Big Dog at MSNBC is.
Aww, poor baby. For one brief instant, someone treated him with the same disrespect he dishes out to others all the time. He just couldn't let go of the "shovel" comment.
Joe is a pill. Or, his mother should have taken the pill. Either one.
Think Keith will get nominated for some kind of award? Maybe we should make one up and hand it to him. The First Annual 'Palm du Smack-Down' Award for the media. You can only receive it for an honest statement smacking another down for his/her obvious bias. I foresee many years of Liberals receiving this award.
wah! vid not working! wah! why is the economy tanking? wah!
sorry. I'm whining and didn't want to waste it.
Thanks Keith, you just made my day!
HAHAHAHAHA!
Joe Scarborough does spew a lot of bullshit, his Morning Joe show is a joke...not very interesting or exciting.
Keith at least tells it like it is.
GO KEITH!
hah, that was so awkward! I loved it.
it's us against them.....a lot of people criticize k.o. i'm glad he's on our team.
Damn! I can't believe I missed that! Good ole Joe is becomming a punching bag. Rachel won't put up with his shit, and now Keith! Go Keith and Rachel!
Not bad - not for nothing are his initials "KO".
I would love to hear how the Good Doctor Maddow would have handled it.
This trends well.
Thanks Keith, I hope this kick is large enough to get the ball rolling :)
You should have seen the Scarborough/Scxhuster dust-up this AM. Joe's obviously still steaming from KO's putdown last night. He takes it out on Schuster instead. Poor WATB....he obviously doesn't like being challenged on his Republican talking points. I suspect that MS-NBC is going to have to deal with this kind of ugly exchange in front of the camera. I'd give Joe and Pat their walking papers to push their ideological agenda on a more viewer friendly channel.

Thank you - Thank you ! (Keith)
CAN YOU SAY AKWARD !!
It was simply one of the greatest ever live moments. I could believe what I was hearing (while adjusting my blinds, standing on a chair- I ALMOST FELL OFF)
Go OBAMA !
this is why the only news show i watch is keiths
journalists are whimps as a whole
joe is a repub wants mc cain
the have mores need repubs to keep their pockets lined in a declining economy
soon will only be have mores and have nots
capitalism demands that to be so
best kept secret in america
awesome.... why does Joe still a have a job there, anyway? Does he have dirt on NBC executives?
Abrams in the AM! that's my verdict.
(sigh)
Chris also slapped down Pukecanon over Pat's "lack of Christianity" remark. I love it when these right wing tools get put in their place.
Gotta love this shovel to shovel convention coverage...or, when push comes to shovel.
Joe, shovel off ya hoser...
hahahaha wtg KO
Suggestion to all the people hanging out in downtown Denver: if you are standing behind the MSNBC booth and Joe is on the panel, chant: "You killed an intern!" soccer crowd-style.
Jo @ 5:
his mother did take the pill.
joe came out the other canal
on the south side
haha. scarborough suddenly became realistic after the shovel bit.
dadams @ 22:
"What a shithead!" she screamed.
Innocent Bystander @ 15:
I saw that this morning. Joe acted the total ass and you could tell the others on the set were uncomfortable while he was ranting away at David.
If we could harness the energy in the hot air that Scarborough has spewed in the last 24 hours, we could light the whole fu*king convention hall for the rest of the week.
That was never proven, she just ended up dead in his office with no explanation and a full cover-up by the media.
The MSM are hiringlings, bought and paid for by gov't! Bush white house spends money to try to tell us how to think. So in other words according to Bush money trumps Life and liberty, Kills innocents and locks up dissenters for money.
Rusty "One House" Shackleford @ 3:
The guilt makes him a bigger prick than a typical repukelican. Maybe one day, while on the golf course with O.J., he'll confess.
A shovel wouldn't be big enough to clean up after olbermann he is such a crap head it would take a bulldozer. WORST PERSON IN THE UNIVERSE.....OLBERMANN the man you thinks he is somebody.
Give Joe's show to Mike Barnicle. At least he attempts to stay toward the middle of the road. He's laid back so he's not too much, first thing in the morning.
Neal Cavuto (sp?) of Fox had Don Imus on the phone this afternoon. Seems Don thinks Obama is a "phony" and an "empty suit". I don't know what Obama has done to tick Imus off. Of course Imus also said that McCain is crazy but that he loved McCain and was going to vote for him.
Joe is stunningly, breathtakingly full of shit.
Marge @ 29:
Marge!
Haven't heard from you for a while. I see you're still in your fine form of being angry about sumpin'
Take care and don't get too worked up.
Loooong pause.....
"Well....get a shovel Keith! My God"
Best part of that clip.
Marge @ 29:
somebody needs to get laid.
Along with....
"They got a shovel and dug themselves out of the grave."
Zombie/? 08
KeithRocks @ 26:
Maybe Joe could use that shovel and find her.
Just make sure rubberface doesn't hit someone over the head with it.
Come on guys, lighten up on Joe! Compared to his former life as right wing attack dog he's grown up and is fairly tolerable. He's still in some sense learning the ropes as a commentator, but has emerged as a conservative who doesn't actually hate or mock liberals at every turn. He'll even give credit where it's due on occasion. Watching his is still better than EVERY other conservative's show and, in any case, he's got Mika to balance him out. Personally, I like their banter. It's fairly innocuous and in any case, as liberals we ought to have some view into the minds of the ideological opposition. If it's between hearing it from Scar and either O'Reilly (shudder) or Carlson, then pour me some Joe.
I DO think he crossed the line with Schuster this morning though, just like I thought Keith did last night. They do a lot of smacking down on Mornin' Joe and msnbc in general, but both were a tad personal.
Jo Says:
Joe is a pill. Or, his mother should have taken the pill. Either one.
********
in fact he is the result of her taking the pill ................
Is it possible that Joe and Pat are getting paid/or promised employment from other sources to keep spewing such nonsense? While it's ok to point out arguments for supporting repubs, just seems they are engaging in extreme hi-spin mode. Then again, there are a lot of people who buy their bs.
RobertD @ 36:
Chant it anyway. That's how smears work when they use them: say something untrue, be blameless (what are they going to do to a crowd?), and let them counteract them. It'll work with the Scar, because we know he has a thin skin.
All day long on msnbc the talking heads just play musical chairs. One starts the day as the host and has the others on. Then the next hour one of the others play the host and the host of the previous hour is now on the set of guests for this hour. They rotate around all day. Nothing new is said from first thing in the morning until when Keith's show comes on.
So, Olberman will be suspended from the airwaves for saying "Jesus" and Scarborough will thus be proven "right" about everything.
Jo @ 34:
well, you said it, you do it!
Innocent Bystander @ 15:
Shuster gives it to Joe all the time. When I can watch (stomach) the show Shuster will stand up to Joe. He gave it to him over torture big time. I loved it.
Now if Keith would only tell that to Tom Brokaw.
Come on guys, lighten up on Joe! Compared to his former life as right wing attack dog he’s grown up and is fairly tolerable.
You're kidding, right?? This guy is an assinine, bloviating, mentally disturbed cretin.
Thank god for guys like KO. He's coming under a lot of heat lately and both the Left and Right are doing their best to smear and diminish him. He and Jack Cafferty are really the only two who speak their mind.
Forgive me for going ot here but I have a problem. It just started this afternoon. When I type something into google search, a little screen drops down telling me how many hits that word or words has gotten. I have never seen it do that before. Does it happen to anyone else and does anyone know how I can stop it from happening?
God, I'm tired of this. Somehow the Worldwide Wrestling Federation became the style guide for 24-hour news. It may keep the lowest common denominator titillated and tuned in, but it's just boring to me. JS? PLONK.
pissed off patricia @ 42:
i'd personally like to see less tabloid and maybe more educational format like compare mccain and obama's
taxation proposals and healthcare policy.....i watch msnbc but they need to be careful.....it's getting to where i can only watch charlie rose and feel satisfied that people were able to speak with little interruption.
ROFL....it's about time someone besides Rachel starts calling out Joe's BS. He is such a shill it is ridiculous. I am surprised he didn't pull off his mic and leave the set.

Is this the future of television?
God help us.
[Sounds like you are McPoint shopping. Deleted. You lose-Sitemonitor]
pissed off patricia @ 48:
I just typed in POW, a word that has been bandied about of late, and no screen. What word did you type in?
More like Morning Ted. As in Ted Baxter. As in Scarborough is.
HAH! Called on his bullshit and he totally had to change his tune. He stuck to the same basic tack, but at least he stopped sounding like a bloody cheerleader for McCain.
Hey, Scar: if you want to pretend to be a newsperson, you have to at least TRY to pretend to be objective, DOOOORK!
Love Joes schpeel about how confident the McCain campaign feels. What else is he going to say? What else would they say?
"Were going to lose our ass. We are so doomed. We dont have a prayer"
They should say that, it would so flock the base to the polls. *snicker*
You've been Olberpwned.
Go Keith--speaking truth to idiocy. Scarborough---what an overrated, self important hack.
As much as I love KO (he's a hero to me); as much as I want Obama to beat McCain (I'll be so depressed if we have another 4 or 8 years of Repuglican rule, and I am absolutely sick of it); I think Joe Scarborough is right. I personally have never been so optimistic that I thought that Obama would be a cakewalk. If there is one thing Repugs are kings at, it is yelling and screaming, spreading lies, dirty tricks, and negative campaigning...and unfortunately, Rove is the king of kings when it comes to this crap.....and, unfortunately, there are still too many out there who are affected by fear.
We haven't seen anything, yet, from the negative ads coming from McCain, and while I also think we haven't seen anything yet coming from Obama, it's going to be very close all the way to the end. I won't be happy until the election is over with (and only then will be happy if Obama wins).
I thought we might lose these rethuglican b@stards for a week but everytime I turn on any channel they have one of them on or they are talking about Clinton. The media is for McSame more than the RNC is for McSame.
Anyone have the video of MSNBC's panel discussion after the Michelle Obama speech last night? Rachel Maddow smacked down Pat Buchanan, subtly, but hard.
Shelly H @ 54:
the problem from my view is that mccain is no longer a 'maverick' but he is evolving into a NEOCON....there will be more wars my friends and we could be their 100 a 1000 the public doesn't care as long as there are no casualties. if you are (R) the fiscally responsible party has me somewhat perplexed when i see the deficit, the
fallen dollar 40% last six yrs.,no-bid contracts,unitary
hiring in the DOJ......the list goes on signing statements
veto...the republicans no longer believe in small government they just sell that notion. bailouts now to financial institutions that's the government interfering.
mccain telling us we're all georgians...is more Nation
building......i mean no disrespect but your wrong this time....i'm also interested if mccain is the better candidate why didn't he beat out bush in 2000 the weak candidate....did you vote for mccain then?
Look, I'd just be happy if they just reported the facts. They can't do it though, they've already written their script months ago and they're going to stick to it. ("the Democrats are in disarry! It's panic in the streets, ladies and gentlemen! The Clintons will have their revenge! etc,..."
Joe did a good job of digging out.
I don't know... I'm glad Keith got in Joe's face, but Joe got the last and longest word, and Keith never followed up to jump on Joe's rebuttal. You could say the shovel line got under Joe's skin and he couldn't let go of it, but you could also say he was throwing it back in Keith's face.
Keith's failure to follow up made his remark seem like a potshot rather than a smackdown.
I think it would take more than one shovel to clean up the crap Scar was putting out there....'Sources close to the McCain Campaign tell ME...Sources close to the Obama campaign tell ME'...He's trying to sound like he's got all the info and the whole time he's making it up as he goes a long.
Keith and Rachel are smart and quick enough, I'd like to see them do it. Off the top of my head:
-...if not ***arrogance***, then at least a contentment...
-...smashmouth politics (that the democrats aren't capable of)...
-tight race
-[Obama] campaign that could. not. lose...
-McCain campaign leaning forward...
Any more? Come on Joe. Admit you're a tool and a right-wing mouthpiece and we could at least respect that you're just doing your job for the Republicans.
Shelly H @ 54:
HAHAHAHAHA. Funny, funny, funny.
Shelly H @ 54:
Actually, we did tax and spend our way into prosperity. It was called the nineties. But thank you for the canned platitudes, come by again soon.
And speaking of Rachel... she would definitely have followed up instead of letting Joe steal the round. I need to search YouTube for some convention commentary from Rachel -- it'd do my heart good. Even better would be to see it posted here, as natthedem requested.
Will the religious right-wing nut-jobs jump on Joe for repeatedly taking the Lords name in vain!?!*
*Question is posed rhetorically.
Expect the right to go ballistic over Keith using the Lord's name in vain. It's as bad as Jesse Jackson's use of the N-word.
Blasphemy makes baby Jesus cry.
-Errr, that is, the Lord's name, actually
"Get a shovel?! Really Kieth, don't you remember that I was a Republican? We're allowed to leave the dead interns unburied in our office."
Innocent Bystander @ 15:
i guess that's the food chain then: keith blasts joe, joe blasts shuster. who does shuster blast? willy geist, i suppose.
I suddenly find myself liking Olbermann alot more
maybe i need to continue to read about obama tax proposal......he is Rolling back the taxation of the 90's.
if you make more than 250k you'll see an increase from what you are being taxed now. that's 250k after deductions. warren buffet said it himself percentage wise my secretary pays more income tax than i do. it's time for the cycle to go back to the middle class i don't get what people don't understand about that. he wants to close loopholes.....the investments made from bush tax cuts are being invested overseas.....this country needs 48 yrs. of middle class growth.
Shelly H @ 54:
In contrast with the multitudes of countries who borrowed and spent their way into prosperity? The way you stride into the topic and announce this stuff is so clueless it's almost endearing.
masha @ 77:
Schuster fired back good, at least until joe cried like the titty baby he really is.
when does the cry baby's contract expire?
natthedem,
Here's Rachel with Buchanan:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLFQ0hy1kw8
At the end Keith mentions the swing in the polls toward Obama.
Well, we all know who we would pick for in a fight but I'm afraid Java Joe held his own and the proof was, absolutely no fight left in Keith after Scarbourough's defence.
Give credit to Scarborough boys and perhaps acknowedge the fact, Olbermann screwed up on this one.
masha @ 77:
then Willie Geist blasts a producer, who blasts a film splicer, who blasts an intern, who promptly blasts Tucker Carlson. who's next in the chain? let's keep this going..
Assassin @ 84:
then Willie Geist blasts a producer, who blasts a film splicer, who blasts an intern, who promptly blasts Tucker Carlson. who's next in the chain? let's keep this going..
Rita Cosby maybe, she still exists someplace I think.
THe above was my comment based entirely and soley on what I watched. Now that I have read the inane comments where nothing describes anything discussed just the standard rah-rah for our home-boy, I'm convinced you fools are no better or worse than the GOP home team. Man, in Canada we just go for the truth and we are so much more cognisant of the fact,it can come from either side. The important thing is we can understand when it is spoken.
Joe Scarface made absolutely no sense...going into a metaphor about digging a grave and out of it with a shovel? What the fuck? KO smacked him with some poll figures and then he covered his tracks. I think I needed a shovel listening to him blather, no doubt.
===============================================================
For people like you who obviously do not understand, revenue for governments is derived from taxes. If you spend $400 Billion per month on a war that is not necessary and is unlawful, you are spending money. Now where do you get it? Do you tax or put it on your Visa or Mastercard? You sure as hell are not putting it on American Express that must be paid at the end of the billing cycle. You are being lied to by the borrow and steal republicans.
Damn, even Tweety was rolling his eyes - "are we done?"
majicman @ 86:
Well, we just don't have your superior comprehension of reality. Have to cut us simpletons some slack, I guess. Eh?
majicman @ 86:
okay your better and smarter than us now go away.
kasinca @ 88:
Given that the original debt of Reagan has never been paid, and the republicans have NO plan to pay Reagan's bills or Bush 41's Bills or this cretins bills, they just want to dump the whole mess on the next couple of generations.
KeithRocks @ 26:
She evidently died of blunt force trauma ... from a shovel.
Amalink @ 6:
The loofah or falafel awards, in honor of the one who needs to be and should be smacked down on a regular basis.
Shelly H @ 54:
Income redistribution maybe... but wealth redistribution? absolutely! Shelly, if you're worth over 10mil then please do vote for Paul or McCain. Otherwise, think about what you are saying and come join us.
Getting the "government out of the way" is the big lie of libertarianism. The idea is ridiculous. Modern society needs responsible government that's open and answers to the people. That's called Democracy and that's what our founding fathers wanted. If you had no government we'd be flooded in New Orleans, lead in toys, e coli in our food, gas at $4.00 a gallon... WOW! Thank you Mr Bush for proving that having no government doesn't work!
Joe took it out on David Shuster today. He dumped all over him for at least five minutes, even said he oversleeps instead of doing his job.
George @ 95:
Reagan preached this same nonsense, along with fiscal responsibility; he actually expanded government and had the largest deficit in history, (until George W, who also expanded government). These are the smoke and mirrors of the neo-cons. You cannot expand executive priviledge and power without expanding government. You cannot give tax breaks and not cut spending without being fiscally irresponsible.
many in capitol hill have said this is NOT the same mccain from 2000.
this guy is evolving into a NEOCON he will take orders from special interest
like his lobbyists buddies black and scheunemann. for those of you who voted for bush please clearly explain to me why you voted for bush over mccain in 2000? i'm very curious.
mccain is NOT a negotiator type he's a feel/gut type like bush.....that's why he is a fxxk up. he's a terrible communicator so he avoids it.
mccain will continue conflicts behind the shield of spreading democracy for special interests at the cost of the public...sophisticated socialism. he will
continue Nation Building. he will knock the middle class down to nothing.
I love KO and only once did I have warm feelings for Joe (very briefly during the Katrina coverage where I was sure he was going to see the light and come over to our side, hmm), but this topic is just pure crap and these posts sound like the bs you read over on the repub blogs. Where's the substance? This kind of rabid, gleeful reaction to such a stupid comment is just sad. Keith was so over the top in his praising of last night that I was embarrassed for him. I realize that we're all positively starving for left wing coverage, but last night was just too much. And Joe didn't look embarrassed, he looked confused. I don't even think he heard him. And then Keith kept repeating it, and Chris, (who I'm also not so fond of) had to pop in to put a stop to the childish taunting. It was just icky. It wasn't powerful and it certainly wasn't a K.O. on Keith's part.
I don't get it... What does "get a shovel" mean?
The shovel is for the HORSE SHIT. What about the ISSUES?
bismarck @ 87:
problem was that Olberman's poll figures were highly selective. Fact is that McCain has picked up points in almost all the polls over the last two weeks. If Olberman thinks everything is hunky-dory and that Obama has nothing to worry about, he's an idiot. I'm a big Obama supporter but this could be a very close election and Scarborough's comments were probably accurate.
Shelly H @ 54:
What's your source for one of the stupidest-arsed know-nothing statements I've seen on the board? The McCain site?
Ever been to Scandinavia-there are about 3 countries there that show just how little you know about the world.
And the Thugs would like us all to be that goddamned fucking stupid.
Thanks for your idiotic concern.
richard @ 102:
Joe just confirmed that the daily polls that the repukes are bragging about are pure, unadulterated bs.

richard @ 102:
could be close?........it's going to be perceived to be close until the day after the election. there is a lot of money and power behind mccain. bush and cheney are both supporting him. these two aren't popular with the public but they are popular with a special 1% of the population. let's not forget WallStreet,K-street,military industrial complex,oilevangelicals,racists...the war/fear themefoolish public....obama has a lot to overcome. big business is very concerned about employees being empowered, they also don't want universal healthcare they make more from inefficient system, they don't want unions although Wal-mart employees have first union in china. this culture war but mostly greed.
If only Joe Scarborough was POW, it would mean he can do anything he wants, and never be questioned.
Marge @ 29:
Aww are you going to stamp you little feet, too?
The librul media wants a close race with conflict so they can talk about the same thing over and over and over 24 hours a day. If they told you that McSame is lost and Obama is winning, you would watch ESPN.
Marge @ 29:
some people get off hating somebody.....hey k.o. is just a t.v. dude
Switching over to creepy Mainstream Media...has anyone seen this new Maytag ad where the ubiquitous repairman emerges from a voting booth clutching a fistfull of hanging chads as someone in line says "oh no, not again." This ad is a GOP talking point dressed up as a funny take on those whacky 2000 and 2004 elections. It makes light of the fragility and integrity of the voting proccess. Am I overreacting? Well I sent them a letter anyways...
constituent @ 91:
Yep to both you and the nimrod before you. Everyone on this board is RIGHt as long as they are supporting the left. Can anyone be that correct all the time? That's your (both Right & Left bloggers) problem. You all drink the same kool-aid.
And then there is Ben Stein. Not much in the "holy fuck someone is saying something brilliant below the 49th tonightl!!"
I was kinda mad at KO for this until I heard Joey being an ass to David Shuster on Morning Joe today. Now I just want to punch Joe. This is the guy who threw a giant hissy fit because Dr. Maddow wouldn't let him talk over her in a panel.
I just finished watching the Scarborough/Shuster clip. That was really some unprofessional, unwatchable and inappropriate TV. Scarborough is seriously, for lack of a better word, a complete dick.
I normally don't watch the man - too annoying - and this not only reminds me of that, but I actually think he's gotten more insane, unruly, bullying, scapegoating and Fox Newsish. It is very obvious that he was intimidated by KO the previous night and is now taking out is frustrations on his "perceived" inferior. David tried to hold his own with some dignity, but you cannot fight someone as undignified and below-the-belt as Scarborough.
Disgraceful, truly.
God Bless Keith Olbermann and Rachel Madow...two breaths of fresh air.
Thank you, KO. Now that's what needs to be done. It has been long and overdue in which the right-wing blowhards have gotten away with their drivel without any refutation. It is about time that someone just told it the way it was.
And in Joe Scarbourough's case, he produces so much he can fertilize the harvest grounds of an entire country.
Too bad Keith didn't follow it up with something
Innocent Bystander @ 15:
Unbelievable! What a certifiable ass Scarborough is. The KO thing was bad enough, but the Shuster segment; Good Grief!! Scarborough genuinely seems to believe that everyone wants to listen to him rant and stroke his own out of control ego, and anyone who confronts him deserves whatever he dishes out.
Watch it again and watch the body language of the others. The woman seems to be trying to mollify Joe and stop it all before it gets out of hand. Then she turns her head away a lot and avoids eye contact. This is submissive behavior. The other men also avert their eyes and put their heads down and look away. Their behavior is very non-confrontational.
Shuster leans in and doesn't back off when attacked by Joe. Joe looks like this surprises and enrages him - as if he isn't used to being confronted because he's the dominant alpha male. And he never did stop attacking Shuster; eventually he took control by changing the subject, but even then he kept throughing snarks at Shuster.
I can't stand Joe's morning show because this dynamic - dominant bully and submissive underlings - is always right under the surface, and I don't find it enjoyable in the least. The woman acts like a lobotomized geisha; bowing and scraping and being subserviant to Joe, as if her only function is to be a female decoration that alternates between being cute and appeasing the Mighty Joe when he is irked.
The other men on the show are also always submissive and the whole point of the show seems to be not much more than the self-aggrandizement of Joe by Joe, with applause from his willing minions. It's like visiting a disfunctional family and hoping the dad doesn't go off into a rage while you're there.
It's all so.....Republican.
KeithRocks @ 26:
That's leaving out about 90% of it.
My favorite part was Joe's going into immediate CYA mode when the woman's body was found. While the body was still on his office floor, Joe was running around telling anybody in the media who would listen that the dead woman had had "health problems" that caused her death - even though the media wasn't yet looking for Joe to ask him any questions about any of it.
Then Joe suddenly shut up and the complete media black-out was on.
Her name was Lori Klausutis, and it was as if she had been "disappeared" like a Bush terrorist. Even her college pictures were removed from her university website within hours of her death.
I'm sure it was all completely above-board. But I think of her when ole' Scarborough snaps and loses it in public.
Olbermann and Shuster are such pricks. I hope they continue to be over the top and in the tank for Obama. That will hurt him more than help. Morning Joe made Shuster look like a child!
Looks like to me like Scarbourough pwnd Olbermann. YAAAA!
Olberman WAS speechless...........
The Rasmussen Gallup Contribution
Check it out, Rasmussen polls are being very deliberate with their attempt to assert John McCain is catching up and moving ahead of Barack Obama during the Democratic convention. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out the polls are leaning right -- far right.
RealClearPolitics example my point; there is a deliberate attempt to make it look like the Democrats are loosing the election. This is done in two ways:
1. CNN, Gallup, USAtoday and Rasmussen are working as a group. They flood the average with like numbers. This makes it easier for other conservative polling agencies to add their conservative bias polls. The end result is they can make the claim more then one poll says the same thing. If that is not enough, these pollsters release in two names -- Gallup/USAToday, CNN/Gallup or CNN/Gallup.
2. The two tracking polls work as a valve. As other pollsters increase Obama's numbers, they lower his numbers as needed. My point here is no one poll should have this much influence in a average. Why is a tracking poll averaged with time release polls anyway?
It is hard to get a true unbiased account of the polling averages. I thought SurveyUSA was a good pollsters. But. when you look at how low their numbers are for Obama, you can't trust no one. This point is shown in an Oregon poll.
What bothers me the most is none of the talking heads will say some of these polls are bias. When it comes to Gallup and Rasmussen, they seem made for CNN commentators. Behind every statement they make, there is "the lastest" Gallup poll to back it up. Sometimes I feel like I am being soften up for the big ripoff in November.
Joseph
That was priceless! Tweety got off on it!
KO is like a nail gun. It's time to call bullshit on these insufferables.
The "seven point swing" in the poll he was talking about still had the two candidates within the Margin of Error of each other, a statistical tie. THAT should be seen as a LOSE for the Obama campaign so far under the circumstances Scarborough detailed.
Now, after being a dead heat tie between Obama and McCain for the last two days, here is the "bounce" Obama has gotten with his announcement of Biden as his running mate and after the first day of the Obama Convention.

a lot of money to be made in the horse race......it's definitely a strategy for the money people to control the public maintain the perception of 50-50 race and it could be true. the election process is far from what i think is fair. i'm personally looking forward to november.....the more i watch and read the more it reveals real human behavior.
Did anyone here watch the whole exchange, Joe made Olbermann look like a fool. All the latest polls show the race tightening. Even matthews was speecless. Joe had facts and Olbermann didn't even know what poll he was referencing. What an ass, he should go back to sports!
Easy way to unhinge a rational person, and one of KKKarl's favorites. I think we can google it under "Liars Paradox". 1. Everything I say is a lie. 2. I'm lying. Media's been doing this to us for a number of years now, ever since the oligarchs decided democracy wasn't their thing. Frustrating, isn't it? Just bill me at the regular rate. Thanks.
Oh my fucking God!! do NONE of you see what a total and complete asshole Keih Olbermann is?? I have been a lefty since the 60's and I wish I could like old Keith..but Jesus he is horrible..he makes Limbaughand hannity almost look thoughtful..he is so appallin and I think is ging to hurt the democratic cause in the longrun..I am amazed at how most of the posters here heard the exchange with Scarborough..jesus folks..let's start to use our brains every now and then!!
rb @ 126:
Bless you..I hadn't read this before I wrote my coment!!
kasinca @ 104:
So did you believe this same poll when Obama was leading?
http://www.gallup.com/poll/109834/Gallup-Daily-Bounce-Obama-Post-Biden-T...
Keith bitch-slapped Joe "Oops my intern has fallen DEAD in my office...and can't get up" Scarborough and he was tad testy this am.
His behavior was pretty pathetic...but hey, what do you expect from a repug propaganda decepti-con.
what a whiny little bitch...
Now this is some great TV on MSNBC. Wheeeeeeeee
The public really wants some media and Republican blood.
Everytime Buchanan says " .. gut and skewer McCain.." the entire crowd roars in approval.
And another clip just aired between Shuster and Joe Scarborough at each other' s throats. David calls himself an Independent - I really can't tell by his reporting. I
It seems all of a sudden that Scarborough is finding some embarrassed at his long Republican past???
While over at CNN - Wolf has lost it and is pre-empting the speeches to listen to music, Dobbs is ready to commit hara-kiri at the thought of blacks actually sitting in the White House rather than vacumning the floors, with the piece de resistance being over at at Fox, cause O'Really is quivering with rage and is ready to pop his loofah with thousands of Democrats leering at him all day.
Uh OH, back to MSNBC - Chris Matthews just went after Olbermann!! Kick his ass Keith!!
Hey, it's 9:08 - anybody out there just see Tweety go off on Keith??
wow........this is NOT a linear process..it will wax-n-wane.
this is much about nothing.
The Republicans are Thick Up In Hear
The Republicans have a campaign to infiltrate sites like C&L and Mediamatters. You need only look at the above comments in a row. They express Republican logic and stupid comparisons. Don't hey have to leave after a certain time? Could that time be now? REPUBLICANS GO HOME.
Joseph
Joseph @ 135:
i've been fighting them off for a few hours. it's a futile cycle...
rb @ 126:
You are seriously delusional. Scarborough had no facts. He was bloviating, endlessly bloviating. When KO busted him, Joe immediately started backtracking and tap dancing to try and cover for the fact that all he was doing was what he's always doing - shooting his mouth off. Olbermann didn't come back in because Scarborough, as usual, never shut the fuck up long enough for anyone else to say a word. Nothing new there.
Joe is a bullying tool. He's a Gingrich Repug, he thinks everything he says is right because he says it, and we should all sit starry-eyed and absorb his wisdom and do whatever he says.
Scarborough is a wanker. His fans are little wankers. Except for the ones that are great big wankers. Are you a little wanker or a great big wanker?
constituent @ 136:
During the Obama and Clinton so-called wars, these same infiltrators tried to play themselves off as Obama supporters. The give away is the stupid names they come up with.
Joseph
I agree. I hate Joe Scarborough (as much for his attitude as his politics) but unfortunately he was right and Keith was wrong. McCain's numbers have improved and Obama's have declined, mostly because of the attack ads. For Keith to quote one good poll and ignore several poor ones is disingenuous.
richard @ 102:
It's comical to see Hard core Korporate Reich wingers covering the Democratic convention.
To listen to scarface talk you would think he was covering the Repuglican Convention.
Idiot korporate shills like him are why I prefer to watch the convention on C-Span.
I can form an opinion on my own!
Oh sure, Keith.
Everything is just fine.
dennis @ 141:
Wow, berets are not a good look for Dana Perino.
Should ask Joe about his "intern" problem, the one the MSM ignored while going after Gary Condit.
Cherokee Fats @ 13:
Rachel Maddow would have done a better job, actually. Keith started out with the 'shovel' comment. Rachel would have started out with a factoid that completely contradicted what Scarborough was saying. She would have made Scarborough look like even more of an idiot, just by comparison with her obvious intellect.
That's right Joe ... just keep talking and talking and talking. I don't remember anyone saying 2 weeks ago that Obama was about to be coronated. I just hate when people like you think that people like us are just fucking lemmings. Coronated? Get a grip guy!
Out of curiousity, what did Olbermann say against Schuster? I can't find a link to it on Olbermann's site.
Not even the slightest touch of class...
Olbermann: Hillary's Howard Wolfson a 'Tokyo Rose' for Working for Fox
Not even the slightest touch of professionalism, objectivity or integrity.
Scarborough is such a rightwing asshole Why he was given a show in the first place, is beyond me. He belongs on Faux.
kathy @ 128:
I kind of like Olberman, but I see your point. Is it really that good of an idea to have a "liberal" version of Rush Limbaugh? And those long pompous commentaries he does where he acts like he's Edward R. Murrow...geez....
roooth @ 137:
Are you 15? All the polls show the race tightening. Olbermann and Shuster both made fools of themselves. And BTW, the election would be over if Obama had picked Clinton. Keep denying the polls and keep blindly following Olbermann. See where that gets you in Nov.
