Where were all the Republican women when Hillary was smeared?

Talk about hypocrites. The Republicans carefully orchestrated this media buzz about Palin and now are playing the hurt feminists who are just standing up for Sarah.

Republican women leaders Wednesday leapt to the defense of under fire vice-presidential pick Sarah Palin, saying she had been the victim of unfair and sexist attacks.

They charged that Palin, a 44-year-old mother of five named as Senator John McCain's wildcard running mate, faced the same dilemma as ex-first lady Hillary Clinton in her failed bid to become Democratic presidential candidate.

Palin even attacked Hillary via Ben Smith:

"She does herself a disservice to even mention it, really," Palin said. "When I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism, or maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think, 'Man, that doesn't do us any good, women in politics, or women in general, trying to progress this country,'" Palin said. "I don't think it bodes well for her.

I haven't seen anyone on TV call Palin a bi*&ch or anything close to it. What a bunch of phonies.

Nicole:  'Because we know there was zero sexism coming from the right during the primary season, right? There was nary a peep on FOXNews about Hillary losing male votes because her voice was shrill, or that her tears were just a political stunt, while male candidates of both parties getting choked up was just a sign of their passion, right?'

Cavuto joined in too: Neil Cavuto on Hillary’s “kind of bitchy image” And of course this one: John McCain supporter on Hillary: “How do we beat the Bitch?”

There are tons more to choose from. And now the McCain camp says there is no sexism going on either. See the kabuki dance? Looking at Palin's record is sooo sexist to them. I wonder if the media will turn on McCain since they love him so dearly for pushing this garbage, but I have no faith and they will back down to the McCain camp in the end as when one side says there is no sexism and the other side does. The Internet can be a place where craziness does happens, but it's not coming from the liberal blogs and that's a very different thing. And where were the Republican ladies when all the Obama smears appeared in the Internets as well---that the right wingers were all too happy to see?

Smearing her.

The Reptiles are born hypocrites, they can't help it.

Haven't we learned that Republicans don't have to play by their own rules? They're so morally superior, they get to commit the acts they outlaw or otherwise rail against with impunity.

Cry Baby storytelling whiner evangelistic PR monkeys. There!

If you don't know Evil when you see it, one day you'll wake up in a camp.

And the winner of the 2008 Harriet Meirs / Katherine Harris award for female GOP Incompetence is Shotgun Sarah Palin. Sounds like this bitch likes to smear and be bitchy too. Go get her Joe. Do the job we know you will do . The gloves are OFF. Their whole agenda tonight seems to be about smearing Obama. Fuck them. Pour it on.

Republican women are the worst hypocrites. Sarah Palin is NO Hillary Rodham Clinton. Not by a long shot!! To think that women would vote for her only because she is a women is totally hilarious. We don't all drink the koolaid--fools!!

http://www.kentucky.com/676/story/512345.html

Palin "pray for the oil pipeline" and the war in Iraq is God's war....

McCain for one was laughing when supporters referred to her as a bitch. These people lack the capacity for self~reflection. They must not be able to see their hypocrisy. Maybe some scientist can find the gene or something. Good point though. It's hard to keep up with it all. And its good to be pointed out as often as possible.

"Where were all the Republican women when Hillary was smeared?"

Why sweetheart didn't you know....

They were holding the brush....

Well, that's the difference isn't it? Hillary was being smeared. Sarah's past is just catching up with her.

If the Dems win, the "Fairness Statutes" or "Equal Time in Media" need to be brought back. Things wouldn't get this surreal in the first place.
Rush would never have survived teevee in the seventies; he would have been debunked at every assinine utterance.

Palin: Iraq war 'a task that is from God'

Is this really that much of a surprise? The rethuglicans have always been a party of do-as-I-say, not do-as-I-do. Heck, they're even whiny about their faith, always saying they're being persecuted.

So instead of accepting that they didn't actually vet this woman as a candidate, they're going to blame it on the media, the libruls, sexism, and the angry left.

I'm actually wondering how the little vetting they DID do via teh Google was conducted. Perhaps with dogwhistle terms that would give them a people-pleasing answer without actually looking at anything in a substantive manner. Or maybe it was the usual Conservapedia-style search for terms like 'gay sex' and 'nude pictures.'

I can't keep up with this. She's Hillary, she's not Hillary.
Sen. McCain's judgment sux, she's a creationalist, a book banner, too religious for me and I really don't think she's all that attractive. I can't wait to hear the foreign policy debate against Sen. Biden.

Imagine in this day and age, someone who wants to ban books for language. That she wanted to fire the librarian gives some insight into her character. The trooper thing too. OK, maybe the trooper is a dirt bag but for her to intervene and fire someone (probably especially when one guy gets a pay off and the Monegan got nothing for the same job) because he didn't fire the trooper says something about her character and her faith in the justice system, i.e. she doesn't have any faith in the system. Good choice Sen. McCain, good choice for Sen. Obama.

They are also complaining about the "internet rumors" that Sarah Palin has to put up with etc. Keith Olbermann pointed out that Obama has had to put up with quite a few as well and no one was concerned then.

Props to the protesters outside the MSNBC coverage area. In Denver there were many Democrats out there and now in Minneapolis the Democrats are out there too. I think this Republican myth is about as reliable as the Diebold machines.

And where's Cindy McCain's cast. What was the story on that.

And finally you know the topic of Judy Ruiliani's speech tonight. Get ready for it. The lies will never stop.

If they didn't vet McCain as a reckless, wild, 485th in class and 5 plane crash pow hero, why should they vet the v.p.?

They charged that Palin, a 44-year-old mother of five named as Senator John McCain’s wildcard running mate, faced the same dilemma as ex-first lady Hillary Clinton in her failed bid to become Democratic presidential candidate.

I don't remember a time where McStain was standing next to Hillary as she spoke while he fumbled with his wedding band and leeringly looked here over like he did the beeyootee queen.

This Republicon party would much rather MAKE WAR THAN PEACE both here and internationally.

This is becoming quite obvious even to the most obtuse bystanders, who actually will use the skill of objective thiinking.

They are drowning in CONtradictions and CONtroversy........they know, the citizens of this country know it, and the entire world is WATCHING and KNOWS IT.

The Republicon party HAS come undone.

It wasn't the Republicans job to stand up for the sexism against Hillary, it was the Democrats. And women's rights organizations. They should have ALL stood up for their own. And they failed it miserably.

They are sociopaths. They have no empathy, they don't even understand the word. They have the mindset of children, spiteful, rich little brat children, and whine and whinge when they don't get their own way. How You would deal with little kids like that is how you deal with these creeps.

Shh. You hear that? Creeping up in the distance? You're not sure, are you? But it's real. Very real. It keeps on getting closer. And closer. You're not sure what it is you're hearing. Maybe a crying child in the distance? Or some strange sort of experimental aircraft... no, that isn't it. Louder, and louder still. You're a little bit more worried now. The sound begins to grate on your last nerves. It's irritating. You still can't tell what exactly it is, but it's very, very shrill and very, very annoying. Wait! It's clearer now! Louder, and more irritating than ever. Oh my dear Lord. It can't be! And yet, it can't be anything else! It has to be... the WAAAAAAAAAAAAABULLANCE!!

The Daily Show did a great mash up of all the sexism against Hilary,... just adds to how idiotic they look now,...

The GOP=the party of whiners.

Waaaaaa.

Leave Sara alooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnne. WAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!

Oh Lord, check this out:

John McCain's presidential campaign is threatening a lawsuit against the National Enquirer over a print edition story the tabloid ran today alleging that Gov. Sarah Palin has had an extramarital affair with her husband's business partner.

This convention is going well, a little more whine with your caviar blinis?

Wtf is it about Mike Wallace's spawn that makes him such a weak willed tool? How did the son of a real journalist come out and end up like he did?

cheesesauce @ 28:

It skips a generation, I guess.

Not only that, but could you imagine what it would be like if one of Obama's daughters was pregnant?

I think we would have a dozen websites about welfare queens and how Obama would fully fund them.

Spare me all their hypocrisy!

Forgive me for not reading the whole post or the comments, but the Republican women were out in droves voting for Hillary in open primaries so they could shout "sexism" and then use her to their advantage. They are ALL about politics and loyalty and not at all about the policies that most women are concerned with. After all they have rich husbands to take care of them.

i do believe its sexism

and every repug attack on obama is racism

alls fair

GOP=Party before country

It's the screaming before the collapse.

Republicans can dish it out, but they sure can't take it. Finally, dems are fighting back. Love it.

Isn't It Interesting To See Who The True Leaders For Woman's Rights Are

One year ago, I came to the conclusion this administration has lied so much they would have a hard time keeping up with what they have to undue before they leave office. Similar, the Republicans, in general, are finding it hard to keep up with the many lies and attacks they have championed in the past.

As John Amato pointed out, they did not bother to mention anything about Hillary Clinton's full time abuse by Republicans and the major cable and network news commentators. Hell, it got so good, Kieth Olbermann had to get a piece of the action. At one point, I thought we lost his powerful perspective -- he did retain his high charged Liberal perspective. In the end, Clinton went broke trying to answer the many attacks the media launched against her. Broke, after making record fund raising amounts.

They can't, and better not, bring it up. Amato also pointed out "THEY" were the primary source behind the often over the top fealty "mac nasty" comments that mimicked a "yo mama" session on the back of a school bus. It was not political; to call it what it was, it was just childish. In any event, I am crossing my fingers they do bring it up. There is a wealth of videos and newspapers articles chronicling the abuse Clinton received. As George W. Bush once said: "Bring it On."

JosepH

Total hypocrites. But, for Refuglicans, it's ok to bitch about being attacked because they're so innocent and never, ever attack anyone. Ever.

They're perfect Americans.

In a classic turn of phrase today, David Brooks explained why McCain picked Palin:

"He chose her because he sees himself in her."

Brooks inartfully stressed the wrong words (not himself or her, but in) and gave the sentence a very creepy meaning.

I also heard a convention speaker tonight explain that for Republicans "values and ideas take precedence over the politics of identity."

Huh? Obviously, the Republicans are following the path of simply saying absolutely everything in hopes that something will help. The above statement is a bit inconsistent with Rick Davis' recent remark that the election isn't about "the issues."

Politics of identity? Two words: Sarah Palin.

Go ahead American voters...show the world that you are even dumber now than you were in 2004. Unbelievable.

And finally, John McCain may be a former POW, but he is a current liar, buffoon, and idiot.

Garsh, no surprise here.
Hillary Clinton is, after all, no woman.
At least not in the Republican definition of "woe-man".
Hillary, as you may recall, is Hillary. An icon(target) unto herself. You know, the "personification of socialist, abortionist, tax-and-spend, loony leftist feminazi evil with a voice generally equated with fingernails on the blackboard, etc."
In other words, she's no lady, therefore no empathy/sympathy from Republican women. Really! How could you even suggest such a thing? If anything, they were leading the charge to have her burned at the stake (while smiling demurely and twiddling their imitation pearls between their manicured fingers).
Sarah Palin is another matter entirely. Whatever else you may say of her, she's one of "us" and a REAL American.
'Nuff said.

Hey, I hate the Repugs but have to admit to having a chuckle hearing the shrieks of "sexism" thrown back at us. For decades now some have used the label to silince anyone who dared to disagree with them.

Truth is that what's good for the goose is good for the gander as well.

Basically, the term "sexist" has lost all meaning by now just like "hero".

One of the best bits of hypocrisy was from those clowns at FuckUs on the Family. Supporting Palin now where previously women were solely to be home a cooking'. And full acceptance of her childs' pregnancy was over the top.

Everything about these people disgusts me.

What a bunch of phonies.

From your lips to Dog's ears, my friend...

Didn't a McCain advisort create a C*NT pac or something to beat Hillary?

seriously... where are the Palin nut-crackers?

The ultimate oxymoron: Republican Feminist.

And where were the Republican ladies bitches when all the Obama smears appeared in the Internets as well—that the right wingers were all too happy to see?

To be called ladies they would have to have some integrity.

The manure flowing out of the mouths of several Repuke feminazis today has made me believe they are the most ignorant bullshit individuals I have ever had the displeasure to hear. Their contempt for an intelligent citizen is revealed by their faux indignation of sexist media coverage regarding the novice from Alaska.

Typical Republican hypocrisy. The Republicans have been brutalizing Hillary since the 90's, and all we're doing is asking legitimate questions about a woman we know nothing about, and they have the audacity to call it sexism.

Hillary should get out there and scratch that fish face eyes out.

enough @ 31:

Ditto (except for the last line). This is straight out of the HRC playbook. The more she played the victim, the more votes Hillary got. Clinton's ridiculous claims of "experience" couldn't be challenged without gratuitous return charges of "sexism." Same now. And, of course, it was, and is, the "damn libruls" who were soooo "sexist."

What grated on me the most, was that, in Arkansas, when a woman was the victim of sexual harassment/gender discrimination, the offending corporation would likely hire Hillary's Rose Law Firm - that's what they do (along with defending polluters, OSHA violators, dangerous product makers, etc.) Now, the party of "barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen" screams bloody murder "sexism" at every opportunity. Why not? A corporate lawyer/director is hardly very far from a staunch Republican. And hypocrisy knows no political boundary.

And now, they're again pulling a Clinton supporter stunt: we will no longer defend this VP pick or their lack of vetting because "It's just not fair." It reminds me a lot of the "strike" Hillary supporters had over at Kos after getting their collective butts repeatedly kicked on factual grounds.

Stop using GOP--most people over 40 automatically think Grand Old Party. I think they are greedy old perverts, but that is just me. Shorten the name to Repuglicants and you say it all.

Here's another one for you.....

Goddam right. I can't wait to have Hillary ram Palin's lightweight ass in the shredder.

Perhaps not from this blogger (JA) but Hillary was getting smeared by democrats during the primaries. Including here on these commet boards! Don't make it seem like it was just republicans because it wasn't. I was ashamed of my fellow democrats.

"Where were all the republican women when Hillary was smeared?"

Chucking mud.

Let me see, Republicans worried about sexism in this election. Now let me get this straight, when McCain was questioned by a "female" supporter in a town hall meeting, and I quote; "How do we beat the "Bitch"?, when referring to Hillary Clinton, McCain neither scolded her for being "Sexist", nor did he even express any distress about her comments. Yeah, this is the party concerned over sexism for women.

Seems like they were calling her names, like "the b----."

Where were YOU when Hillary was smeared, John? You didn't engage, but you didn't condemn, either.

Yes and remember we are asked to leave Sara's pregnant daughter alone while Rush Limbaugh took pot shots at Chelsea Clinton. First Sara religion believes woman should be stay at home moms. Stay at home then!

Sara's religion has told us not to have sex outside of marriage and there would be no need for 'the pill'. Meanwhile Sara, being too busy outside the home, has taken her eye off her family and her daughter who is at an age she needs her mother.

PS

Guess the abstinence program for Bristol didn't work.

"I haven’t seen anyone on TV call Palin a bi*&ch or anything close to it. What a bunch of phonies."

Well then, let me do it: Sarah Palin, you proved without a doubt last night that you are a vindictive bitch. Nothing statesman-like about your speech, all venom and lies.

Talk about hypocrites, where were Pelosi, Brazille and some of our other Democratic women leaders when they were bashing Hillary. I'll tell you where they were, shaking in their tutus. At least these Republican women stood up for their candidate. I think we call this a "Profile in Courage".

Cleavage. I wanna see cleavage. McCain is evidently an ass man, judging from his wandering podium eyes. I'm interested, too, but gotta see them funbags. You dig?
Oh, is that sexist?

cv @ 11:

Well, that's the difference isn't it? Hillary was being smeared. Sarah's past is just catching up with her.

Being called a bit*h and whiny is a little bit different than people questioning your credentials, your record and your experience. The Reicht wing questioned Obama's experience and I don't recall him saying it was racist for them to question it.

Oh, is that sexist?

One thing that most people missed in that little clip was that while McCain was checking out her "ASSets", he was also twirling his wedding band, a sure subliminal sign from someone willing to act on his desires.

To all republican women who support Palin, check all the merchandise that is being sold Pro -palin. There is a lot of sexist stuff out there. Maybe you should do something about it. Thats right Palin is against freedom of speech too. Perfect for yall gals.
