Predictably, conservatives have their panties in a bunch over President Obama's announcement that all but 9800 troops will be coming home by the end of the year, with the rest leaving by no later than the end of 2016.
Watch Krauthammer twist a President making good on his vow to end these godforsaken wars into something evil and political:
“It’s kind of an act of personal narcissism,” Krauthammer, a syndicated columnist and Fox News contributor, said. “Is that how we’re now setting the strategy of the United States in a war zone, where so many have died and so much treasure and blood has been spent, so a president can leave office looking good?”
Krauthammer added that he believed Obama’s remarks were designed to play to the president’s political supporters and help Democrats in the 2016 election. But while the move might help Democrats at the polls, Krauthammer said it may not be the best thing for the country.
First, WTF is "personal narcissism? Is there any other kind of narcissism? Second, Krauthammer should understand narcissism better than most, given that he plays one on TV nearly every day.
Let's flip his remarks and call Bush/Cheney's invasion of Afghanistan an act of personal narcissism. It's hardly strong enough to describe what they did. Hubris might be a better term. Unbridled, full-blown hubris.
What conservatives want, in a nutshell:
“The greatest success we had in the post war era, the post wars era were in Japan and Korea and Germany, where we still have troops 60, 70 years after the war," he said.
Empire. They want the Empire of the United States of America to be present in every damned country on the planet because conquest, or liberty, or oil. Pick your poison, all will do.
This right here is why no Republican should ever again be elected to the Presidency of the United States. That Commander in Chief thing is just too much for any of them to handle.
