Not satisfied to simply slap around his opponents, now Donald Trump took a swat at his own surrogate while out on the campaign trail today.

In Ohio, Trump swiped at Kasich with this. "Your governor, Kasich, If you look at him, and I'm being totally impartial, he goes to New Hampshire (and) he's living in New Hampshire."

He then does a mock sweep of the audience, saying, "Where's Chris? Is Chris around? [Kasich] was [in New Hampshire] more than Chris Christie!"

Realizing that he'd just taken a swipe at his own surrogate, he then laughed it off, saying, "I hated to do that but I had to make my point."

I was waiting for Christie to say, "Please, Donald. Hit me again. Beat me more, because it feels so good."

Seriously, there's a very weird dynamic between those two, don't you think?

Update:

I loved Oliver Willis' take on it:
