Daily Motion and Steve Martin are holding a music video contest. The rules are, you have to use Steve Martin's song "Wally on the Run" as your soundtrack, and the video must have a dog or dogs in it. I don't expect to win, but I had fun with this.

And a wet one.

i hope that means snow for us in tahoe.

We already had a fluke snow, here in Prague, 2 weeks ago. Gross!!!

Following reports that President Obama was “actively discouraging Senate Democrats in their effort to include a public insurance option with a state opt-out clause as part of health care reform,” White House Deputy Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer wrote on the White House blog that “those rumors are absolutely false.” “President Obama completely supports” the Democratic leadership’s efforts, Pfeiffer wrote.
A new report from Thomson Reuters has found that the U.S. health care system wastes up to $800 billion ever year. “The average U.S. hospital spends one-quarter of its budget on billing and administration, nearly twice the average in Canada,” the report notes.
Democrats are discussing ways to speed up key benefits in the health reform bill to 2010, “eager to give the party something to show taxpayers for their $900 billion investment in an election year.” “We want to be able, within the cost framework and the implementation framework, to have as much start as early as possible, even though we know all of it can’t,” said Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI).

Most excellent, bluegal! Steve Martin plays a mean banjo!
Good little vid. And I haven't heard S.M. play banjo in a long time. It's not easy to write an original song and get it added to the canon of bluegrass music, a genre driven by tradition many centuries old. This one shows promise.

Global cooling debunked. Ahnie's "movie credits" don't do enough to improve employment or stop runaway productions. Oh, no, Teen Vogue didn't! A U.N. human rights investigator wants Barry to meet his deadline on the Gitmo detainees. Kerry attacks Bush five years too late. Speaking of Bush, it looks like they're prepping a new Manchurian Candidate in the clan for public office-and he happens to be biracial. At least five thousand people protested the bankers gathering in Chicago. Iceland's shitcomony forces McDonalds to take its business elsewhere. Newspaper circulation is on the decline. Even DEA Agents can't handle Afghanistan.
Of course the Bushes have a 'Manchurian Candidate' in the wings, its who they are, and always have been. And if that candidate is a family member...well, BONUS!!
Are you familar with the former British ambassador to Uzbekistan, Craig Murray? He faced a huge smear campaign after he questioned British and American use of 'intelligence' gained through torture. Anyway, in his new book, he claims to have a copy of a letter from Ken Lay to W in 1997 which says in part:
Historically speaking, if the Bushes are involved, we're all screwed.
One small quibble, the AP story about George P. Bush is wrong on where he was born. He was born in Texas, his family didn't move to Florida until he was 3 or 4 years old. I thought Jeb and Columba adopted? No, just Marvin?
I pledge allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America, and to the republic which it established, one nation from many peoples, promising liberty and justice for all
Pipelinistan. It's all about the pipeline. There is a smaller chance that it could be laid through Iran, but they are a more unified country than Afghanistan.
The CIA involvement related in Murray's story should be enough to really nail somebody, somewhere. But the CIA has 'way too much power, and any President since Carter should be very afraid. He wasn't, and he got hustled out of office as soon as possible.
And don't get me started on JFK.
"P" Bush is in Naval Intelligence... now there's another family legacy underway.

My latest experience with Medicare had me going in for the pre-medicare physical and I checked into the program a little more. One thing that stood out is we still pay 20% co-pay on doctor visits. Another that struck me as odd is if you have below povery level income you still pay $96.40 in monthly premiums and that is for everyone who has an income up to $85,000 annually. When are we at the lowest end of income going to get a supplemental to help us with our healthcare costs. More food for thought, why don't they pro-rate our expenses adjusted by our income?
Medicaid. Your deductible is $134.00 a year, right? I think Medicare, or "plain vanilla" Medicare is a good deal. The advantage plans are a rip-off. Paying $96.40 a month for a premium seems like a reasonable amount. Do you know that some pharmacies in stores like Hannaford and Wal-Mart, among others, give you deep discounts on prescriptions. Like a 30 day supply of many generics for $4.00 and a 90 day supply for $10. Medicare Part D is a complete scam. Do you know what the "donut hole" is? I don't want to bore you with this if you already know about it.
I do. I don't shop at Wal-mart though. I won't.
I didn't want to assume that you hate them as much as I do. Is there Hannaford Markets where you live? They have a sweet deal with over 400 generic drugs available. They also give certain antibiotics to you for free. Most drug store only give you a small discount (like Rite-Aid, another business I am avoiding). You have to pay cash at Hannaford (not have any insurance plan) but that's perfect if you want to avoid Medicare Part D. All Medicare prescription plans have to be bought from private insurance companies. Thank you Bush Co.
We have Walgrens that do the same discounts, I think. I will be checking them out.
same here.......... I don't and I won't. they are part of the problem.
calling our congress critters about pro-rating our premiums and co-pays? Come on guys, get on board with this while we have their attention and don't let up.
Then when you are eligible for it, you wouldn't have to pay anything. You would simply have all the coverage you need. But again, they let rich people off the hook by cutting off collection of the Medicare tax at a certain income. Those who can afford to pay the tax, don't have to do so. Is this a great country, or what?
They pay up to about $100,000 and then they get a free ride the rest of the way. The greatest country in the world . USA, USA, USA!
Yeah!!
when I coached a little league baseball team. I got the leftovers from the regular team and we had to create a new team from the greenest little new guys. We used to yell, "We're number 1, we're number 1." We ended up number 2 and felt pretty good about that. I don't think we would have felt so good if we had been number 37.
In a row???

could have their own bank? It wouldn't surprise me if the Walton family was actually Chinese.
in the business right now. Pre-load the card; no $35 overdraft fees, can set-up direct deposit of payroll checks without ChexSystem bullshit. If it weren't for Walmart, I couldn't get a card anywhere.

The deep discount on prescriptions is for generic antibiotics.
Not the patented stuff which is still expensive.
statusquObama, change you can only pretend in
to seniors is just a 50% discount on their brand name drugs. Gee, thanks so much. As the actual cost of the drugs to them are very low, and their mark-ups are very high, a 50% discount still gives them way more money than they deserve. The deep discount is all for generics. I think it is better to use generics than going without medication that your doctor prescribed for you that you cannot afford to pay full price for. Seeing as Big Pharma uses ingredients that come from China and other unsavory places, what is the difference between generics and brand names other than the price and the profit for the drug companies? Nothing. At some pharmacies, antibiotics (generic and limited to some common types) are free. Some people are actually trying to help. I know. I am amazed myself.
Melanie Trottman reports on labor policy.
Organized labor is flexing its muscle to get a health overhaul plan through Congress – and signaling its flexibility about some of the details.

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka (AP Photo/Charles Dharapak)
AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka said Monday he’d be open to a bill that would tax high-value health insurance plans, so long as it wouldn’t hurt middle-class Americans. Until now, labor has opposed a tax on health plans.
Labor’s willingness to play ball comes as odds of passage of an overhaul bill with a federal insurance plan to compete with private insurers have improved. Trumka, whose labor federation represents 57 unions and 11.5 million members, said labor’s battle is no longer about whether there’ll be a public option, but rather what that option will look like. “We’re now at a pivotal point as the Senate leadership continues to craft a bill to go to the Senate floor, and as the House leadership works on combining their three bills,” he told reporters on a conference call Monday.
Labor has opposed taxing high-value health plans because many union members might have to pay such levies, and union leaders say their members have forgone pay raises to get those better health benefits. What constitutes a high-value plan has yet to be decided, and even Trumka couldn’t offer a dollar amount. But he said he’s willing to take a look at a proposal—if it doesn’t hit the working class. “If you wanted to tax the Goldman Sachs plans, I’d say that’s fine … but taxing working-class Americans” is not, said Trumka.
Meantime, Trumka is planning a “day of action” for Nov. 5, encouraging union members to flood Capitol Hill with phone calls requesting three things for a revamped health care system: A robust government-run health care option, a requirement for employers to “pay their fair share” of insurance for employees, and an assurance that working families won’t be taxed for their benefits.
“We have to be sure reform is real,” Trumka said.

A Suffolk University poll conducted Oct. 22-25 breaks away from the pack of recent New Jersey polls, which have all shown a close race, and says Gov. Jon Corzine is leading Republican Chris Christie by a comfortable 42 percent to 33 percent with independent Chris Daggett (who had for the first time notched 20 percent in a survey last week) now at 7 percent. Fourteen percent are undecided. The margin of error is 5 points.
Suffolk said Daggett may be suffering from the way the New Jersey ballot is set up, placing his name at different spots, depending on the county.
"Independent Chris Daggett struggles to be found on the ballot, which benefits Jon Corzine, whose campaign is peaking at the right time for him," said Suffolk's David Paleologos.
Seventy-two percent of voters said their minds were made up, while 24 percent said they might change their minds. Both Christie and Corzine voters were in that range, but only 56 percent of Daggett voters said they were definitely going to vote for him.
Among undecided voters, 25 percent said they would vote for Corzine if they had to make up their minds right now, 15 percent named Christie and 2 percent named Daggett. Fifty-five percent remain uncommitted.
Looks like a winner to me. Good luck!
this has been bothering me immensely. My daughter was home from her university for the weekend and met up with friends. My daughter is a sophomore and is 19 years old. She was able to meet up with one of her high school friends who is now married and was living in another state, but has returned home.
The young lady's husband is newly returned from Afghanistan and they are only recently married, I believe about four to five months. She was relating to my daughter a story about how her new husband has been having some issues and accused her of talking with an old boyfriend on her cell phone, which she says she did not do. She indicated that he continued to become more antagonized and that she finally contacted his sergeant, which is what she was instructed to do when he returned home. She told my daughter that her husband's sergeant came to their home, spoke with her husband, and then told her that it would be necessary (read safer) for her to return home to her parents.
I'm heartened that the military is apparently doing a better job of keeping families aware of the problems that soldiers may experience when they return home and providing them with support, but I'm heartsick that these young adults have to deal with the trauma of war. As I tried to explain to my daughter, her friend's husband may never be the young man that he was before he went to war. And then, I think of those chickenshit, war mongers, like Dick Cheney and I'm angry. He would shit himself at the mere thought of what this poor young man has seen and done. This is all so wrong.

Screenwriter Paul Haggis (Million Dollar Baby and Crash) decides to leave Lord L.Ron's Flying Circus and writes a scathing letter relating his reasons, chief among them the "Church"'s backing of Proposition 8, the California initiative that stripped gay people of their right to marry each other. The letter goes viral and a shitstorm is brewing. Wheeee!

Or a Cohen Bros/Quentin Tarantino movie.

The liberal Jewish organization of 'J' Street had a much bigger than 'predicted' (MSM PROPAGANDA) turnout!!The new pro-Israel, pro-peace lobby began its first annual conference yesterday and it has attracted far more participants than anticipated. Despite all the efforts by the right to scare the mainstream pro-Israel community away from J Street, the event appears to be a big success.
On Tuesday, well over a thousand J Street delegates will travel to Capitol Hill to lobby for the two-state solution, a settlement freeze, and the end of the occupation. J Street's members believe that Israel will only achieve peace and security by reaching an agreement with the Palestinians.
That is the message it is taking to Capitol Hill. F**K you RAHMIE!
