CNN

The most trusted name in bullshit.

:<[)

you mean the Insurance companies get an untaxed windfall bill!

Iran can't even let a woman have a Nobel Peace medal. The U.S. and China don't want to reduce emissions enough to actually combat global warming. Military divorces are on the rise, for some reason. A judge demands Obama's administration stop blocking a 9th Circuit lawyer from obtaining same-sex medical benefits for her wife. Guns ruin a family Thanksgiving for good. Brazil wants us "gringos" to pay to stop deforestation of their country. Oh, and the markets continue to suck right now. Who's resurrecting the electric car?

A new report from the Urban Institute argues that a “strong” public option — one that is triggered in the event that overall growth in national health spending exceeds a pre-determined target — may do more to control health care spending than the public option proposals offered in existing legislation:

In the absence of enough political support to pass a strong public option at this time, a “trigger” for a strong public option should be considered for inclusion in health reform legislation whether or not a weak public option is included as a political compromise. Even the threat of such a plan being triggered offers the potential to affect market dynamics between insurers and providers.

http://thinkprogress.org/2009/11/27/trigger-u...

with a trigger. When does the government decide that the insurance companies have gone too far? Come on, they have already anticipated healthcare reform and have accelerated their price increases. A public option with a trigger will only prolong the problem.

I hate to say it my friend but, congress isn't that stupid are they? Maybe they just think we are.
I have to edit again. This report is more than likely a leak. If you think like they think, this is nothing more than propaganda to make us think there aren't many other choices. I'm of the opinion that if we don't have a strong public option out of the box, I hope Obama vetos it.

overall i agree. i want a robust public option that allows anyone to participate.

was never triggered. see medicaid part b. triggers are bullshit. it's bad enough the senate version won't go into effect until 2013, by which time insurance rates will be up 50%.

Sounds pretty funny to me. Yeah, let's... um... put a trigger in there, and... OH! LOOK over there at those shiny objects (sheep).

It's like being good all year so you get an Easy Bake Oven for Christmas, and you get a rotten old football.*

90 Things President Obama Accomplished The Media Didn't Report
Obama-47

2. Ordered a review of all federal operations to identify and cut wasteful spending and practices

3. Instituted enforcement for equal pay for women

4. Beginning the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq

5. Families of fallen soldiers have expenses covered to be on hand when the body arrives at Dover AFB

6. Ended media blackout on war casualties; reporting full information

7. Ended media blackout on covering the return of fallen soldiers to Dover AFB; the media is now permitted to do so pending adherence to respectful rules and approval of fallen soldier's family

8. The White House and federal government are respecting the Freedom of Information Act

9. Instructed all federal agencies to promote openness and transparency as much as possible

10. Limits on lobbyist's access to the White House

11. Limits on White House aides working for lobbyists after their tenure in the administration

12. Ended the previous stop-loss policy that kept soldiers in Iraq/Afghanistan longer than their enlistment date

13. Phasing out the expensive F-22 war plane and other outdated weapons systems, which weren't even used or needed in Iraq/Afghanistan

14. Removed restrictions on embryonic stem-cell research

15. Federal support for stem-cell and new biomedical research

16. New federal funding for science and research labs

17. States are permitted to enact federal fuel efficiency standards above federal standards

18. Increased infrastructure spending (roads, bridges, power plants) after years of neglect

19. Funds for high-speed, broadband Internet access to K-12 schools

20. New funds for school construction

21. The prison at Guantanamo Bay is being phased out

22. US Auto industry rescue plan

23. Housing rescue plan

24. $789 billion economic stimulus plan

25. The public can meet with federal housing insurers to refinance (the new plan can be completed in one day) a mortgage if they are having trouble paying

26. US financial and banking rescue plan

27. The secret detention facilities in Eastern Europe and elsewhere are being closed

28. Ended the previous policy; the US now has a no torture policy and is in compliance with the Geneva Convention standards

29. Better body armor is now being provided to our troops

30. The missile defense program is being cut by $1.4 billion in 2010

I really get tired of the asses that keep saying he has done nothing.

I never say Obama has done nothing.

I say often that I don't like much of what he has done.

1. Ordered all federal agencies to undertake a study and make recommendations for ways to cut spending

Potential savings in the millions while the we give $17 trillion to the Banksters

2. Ordered a review of all federal operations to identify and cut wasteful spending and practices

See #1.

3. Instituted enforcement for equal pay for women

Remains to be seen!

4. Beginning the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq

Yet be to withdrawn. This does not include private contractors which number nearly 200,000.

5. Families of fallen soldiers have expenses covered to be on hand when the body arrives at Dover AFB

There will plenty more bodies where they came from. Hip hip hooray.

6. Ended media blackout on war casualties; reporting full information

And he controls the media, right.

7. Ended media blackout on covering the return of fallen soldiers to Dover AFB; the media is now permitted to do so pending adherence to respectful rules and approval of fallen soldier's family

See number 5.

8. The White House and federal government are respecting the Freedom of Information Act

Ha ha, that's funny.

9. Instructed all federal agencies to promote openness and transparency as much as possible

While he refuses to release torture photos. Obscure but enormously costly special deals to the Banksters. For instance $301 billion bad asset backstop to Citi, $118 billion bad asset backstop to BoA, Section 382 tax code giveaway amounting to hundreds of billions in black box credits for Banks which was authorized in the 'Stimulus' bill but not counted in the bottom line. This is all counted in the $17 trillion, and there transparency there, right? Wrong!

10. Limits on lobbyist's access to the White House

Check the the White House logs and see what a joke that is. This will be one of the funniest things you have said.

11. Limits on White House aides working for lobbyists after their tenure in the administration

White House aids, like maids? This remains to be seen. I am skeptical.

12. Ended the previous stop-loss policy that kept soldiers in Iraq/Afghanistan longer than their enlistment date

He is still a war monger.

13. Phasing out the expensive F-22 war plane and other outdated weapons systems, which weren't even used or needed in Iraq/Afghanistan

The net result after this 'phase out' was actually a loss. The budget increased. The entire military budget is one trillion dollars per year. More than ten times our nearest rival. Military Keynesianism will bankrupt us.

That's enough for now. The main point is you make long list of some of the penny wise and completely miss the pound foolish.

Not to mention the enormous moral deficit.

I don't doubt Obama has done a lot of good things, and more than any Republicans (like McSame/Palin) would ever do.

HOWEVER, it's like redecorating your house, when really you need new plumbing and wiring, and the foundation leaks.

Oh brother, are you gullible!

Have you ever read anything by Richard Cook?:

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/arti...

Also, here's the link to the press conference Single Payer/PNHP had Wednesday morning at The Press Club in D.C.:

http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/290273-1

Thank you Abby.

I am really doubtful about the Richard Cook piece. On the first read it struck me as a jumble of half facts and dubious analysis.

I will read it again.

I will watch the video later.

Joe Klein Knocks Media Criticism Of Obama

It's that lousy far left media reporting, (NOT) that does such a good job reporting, (NOT) and our good friends here that just want to bitch about anything and everything.

I know they are going to bring out LIEbermen and at least one chainey, maybe both along with boehner and cantor and some other repuke. tweety has been revving up the repug talking points and I love that cartoon about stephie as the chainey pet poodle.

SUCK!

Compared to Bush, anyway. But he still needs to deal with the issues most important to the American public right now. Still, at least shopping has picked up from last year, if nothing else...Anyway, a robbery during Black Friday, thanks to the NRA.

You are gullible!

I get SOOO tired of Obama supporters who think EVERYTHING HAS TO HAPPEN YESTERDAY... and

I get REALLY PISSED at Republicans and Conservatives who, from the very beginning of Obama's administration, began to blame the Democrats for the MONUMENTAL MESS that was left by Cheney/Bush and their CONSERVATIVE MOBSTERS.

I think I'm going to send your list (with your name credit) to THE MORNING JOkE PRODUCERS... to start with.

It will take time and effort to debunk this list but a start is here

I contributed to Obama until his FISA treachery and criminality.

After that I was strictly off the bus.

It has probably been at the least 3 weeks since I last mentioned that I personally loathe and despise Joe Lieberman...............*sigh*, maybe I can get to it tomorrow.

...for desperate patients

22/11/2009
NHS bosses have secretly splashed out £1million of taxpayers' money - to STOP desperate patients getting life-saving drugs.

Bean-counters from Primary Care Trusts, which pay for treatments, have spent cash that could have been spent on health care to set up and run a pressure group to campaign AGAINST expensive new remedies.

That is really classy tabloid you have there, some other headlines:

I've made £300k as a hooker

Katie Price munches on Kangaroo anus... but refuses testicle.

Cross dresser Alex Reid to propose to Jordan in I'm A Celeb jungle

A real tower of journalistic excellence.

less is more

PCTs Lobbying NICE

The press reported at the weekend on the Commissioning Support Appraisal Service, a service set up by PCTS, which campaigns against expensive drugs treatments.

Andrew Donald of Birmingham East and North PCT, which is a PCT behind the development, said they wanted to make it clear to NICE that there was a cost every time it said yes to the latest cancer treatment.

Norman Lamb commented that the move was ‘outrageous'.

Ba ha ha!

I watched BBC International last night and they were talking about the inquiry going on for Blair (Bush) lying Britain into the war. None of it would ever appear on American TV!!!!!

A few examples: Blair should go to trial, but never will. The Cabinet failed us. Our democacry is broken, and failed us: Blair acted as a dictator. Etc.
