Fox gets punk'd: ACORN volunteer knew 'pimp' and 'prostitute' were fake, was putting them on
Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity were all over the latest video release in the self-concocted ACORN "scandal" they've been pitching all over the cable and airwaves the past week. This time, they supposedly caught an ACORN volunteer named Tresa Kaelke giving them advice on how to set up their pimping operation.
Now, you'd think they would clue in that they were being put on when the woman talked about having killed one of her ex-husbands, but no. They proceeded apace -- and then splashed it all over Fox News this week, credulously.

The only problem? It’s not true. As ACORN has stated in its press release,
“They were not believable", said Ms. Kaelke of the two actors. "Somewhat entertaining, but they weren't even good actors. I didn't know what to make of them. They were clearly playing with me. I decided to shock them as much as they were shocking me. Like Stephan Colbert does – saying the most outrageous things with a straightface." While her sense of humor might not be funny to many people, the fact is that she spun false scenario after false scenario and the videographer ate them up.
ACORN provided a copy of a San Bernardino police report of their investigation into the “homicide” of Kaelke’s husband. The police concluded, “the claims do not appear to be factual. Investigators have been in contact with the involved party’s known former husbands, who are alive and well.”
At least Hannity had a smidgen of actual journalistic impulse enough to ask:
Hannity: Did you ever check to see if in fact she (Kaelka) had a husband that was killed?
Giles: We’re working on that.
Hannity: You haven’t gotten to the details on that.
Breitbart: Look, there’s so much stuff coming in ...
Hannity: In fairness, she could have just been --
Breitbart: She certainly does exist and if you look on the internet, you can see that she’s also involved in the other side of ACORN. So she is a community organizer in the political sense.
And these people like to fancy themselves "investigative journalists." More like ethics-deprived fanatics out to score political smear points.

The sad part is: 1) these young, wannabe "journalists" don't realize that their halloweenish costumes (a gold-handled cane and leopard print jacket, really? However, if at least one threw them out, and there probably are others, that seems to indicate that what these low level employees did was not something management instructed them to do. These low level employees did it on their own accord. Ergo, my supposition that ACORN is not responsible for condoning child prostitution or murder. They were bad employees.

I really hope that Ms. Kaelke sues those two, Fox News, Beck, Hannity, and anyone else who has defamed her character. Heck, a police report was even filed. I'm no lawyer, but certainly, I would think that she, and ACORN, have a lot of potential legal recourse.

By legal definition a private conversation, with the subject making the comment, does not constitute a crime or a charge of defamation against the subject.
It's in the dissemination of it, particulary with a careless disregard for the truth, that defines the term. That would be broadcasters who don't even seem to do the minimal research.

I'm wondering when that video of Ms. Kaelke was actually made? The tape itself shows August 14, 2005, but that's probably because the "journalists" didn't set the time correctly.
However, I imagine that these videos were made at least several days if not longer before they were played on Faux News.
What I'm really wondering is if these two "journalists" think this woman really committed the crimes of murder and running a brotherl, why didn't they go to the police right away? The way they talked to Fox sounds as if they were very disgusted at what Ms. Kaelke told them, so seems to me they should have gone immediately to the police.
Just a follow up....an article I just read said that these two "journalists" went to that San Bernadino ACORN office on August 17. The police report was created September 15th, just after Faux showed the video, suggesting that the police only found out about the apparent "crimes" on or around September 15th.
That's nearly one month that went by before they were notified. Seems to me that such a serious crime as murder, and even a less serious crime of prostitution, should have warranted that these two "journalists" go straight away to the police to let them know what they had discovered.
