Glenn Beck jumps the gun, depicts welcoming remarks to Sotomayor as 'questioning'

Glenn Beck wanted to use the senators' opening remarks at the Sonia Sotomayor hearings yesterday on his Fox News show to illustrate his claim that President Obama is shoving his agenda down America's throats, blah blah blah.
So he ran a pastiche of various warm remarks offered mostly by Democrats on the first day of the hearings, describing them thus:
Beck: America, I want you to watch this. As our country burns to the ground, because we all have this kind of stuff going on, this is the questioning -- now get ready, because it's a hard line of questioning -- here's what happened, this is what our senators were doing today. Watch this.
What he proceeded to show, of course, was senators making prefatory remarks to the nominee.
Because as anyone who glanced at the Judiciary Committee schedule for these hearings would know, the actual questioning was not scheduled to begin until today.
Beck also refers to Sotomayor's supposed high rate of reversal. But as Media Matters notes:
But according to data compiled by SCOTUSblog, Sotomayor's reported 60 percent reversal rate is lower than the overall Supreme Court reversal rate for all lower court decisions from the 2004 term through the present -- both overall and for each individual Supreme Court term.
America, watch this. Because this is what passes for insightful commentary on Fox News these days. As our country burns to the ground, as it were.

If that's the case, I don't know how humorous the reference generally is, in context of Glenn Beck in particular, but cyanide caps sound like good medicine to me for some of our more rodent-like citizens. jmo

I hear over and over that re=Thugs are blowing it by pushing so hard on Sotomayor - that they'll have nothing left for the Supreme Court fights to come -- I don't believe that even for one minute. I think they're just warming up and that successive fights over SC nominees will be every bit as stupid and insane as this one is now.

I'm listening to Judge Sotomayor right now explaining what she said about the wise latina and damn she's amazing. She explains things so well that even a half wit could understand it, but we'll see how judge Beck feels about it this afternoon.

My daughter's boyfriend was telling me that his buddy's dad gave him Beck's "book" to read. He said he just jumps around because it's so rambling and incoherent that he can't stay with it. Anyway, the man that gave him this book works for the local water district. Ah, the irony. As this turd wines about socialism and the constitution and whatever, he works for the government. He's too thick to grasp just how silly he is.

So, that means that Glenn's got someone on his staff that enjoys his nightly monument to stupid and is just waiting for the chance to watch a train wreck up close and personal like.
I realize I may be giving someone on his production team more credit than they deserve but the thought of someone knowingly allowing Glenn to demonstrate that kinda stupid... kinda makes me happy.

From Palin to Burris, when either party supports fools, it makes the country look to the world like one giant ass. Its embarassing to watch and listen to the vitriol spewing from the mouths of so called conservatives, especially since Obama's been in power.

on WHY Faux can't be relied on to be an accurate news source. They get too many of the basics screwed up. How many times have they labelled miscreant Republicans as Democrats? Too many for it to be an accident, or an "oversight."

Probably some of both? We know Hannity purposely edits Obama comments and reports out of context. Hey, all they say is "We report, you decide." Fox makes no claim of actually accuracy.

He also prepares one-page sheets with footnotes and sources. He really believes we have to cure this one tool at a time. He's more patient than I.

I heard the senate got a laugh at yesterday's hearing when Al Franken said seeing about his only being a senator for five days.
You know what, I'm watching some of those prefatory remarks right now as some senate committee questions the SEC's role in the Madoff case and what the hell that policing organization is going to do to change.
These remarks are making me sick too, because before the rep from the SEC is even questioned, senators are making complimentary remarks, stating they are happy the SEC is looking to change, that the hearings are premature, and that they may leave in the middle of the hearings because they have so much confidence in the SEC.
Once again the SEC has not spoken yet, but the circus before the substance IS hard to watch.
Sessions is about to go into vapors as he questions the Judge. He hasn't found one nit he can't pick. He's even picking at nits that aren't there. She's calm and cool and patient as she responds to his pettiness. Just wait until drama boy, Lindsey, gets his chance to grasp the pearls. Sessions is all kind of pissed because the Judge isn't an old white man.

Someone made a comment in another Fox thread here recently that I think applies to this clip, I'll paraphrase: They knew that this was a mistake, and they did it anyways.
The people who watch Beck will never know he was wrong, or care. All they know is they're outraged and everyone else is wrong. And what does Fox care? They get the ratings and were watching their TV channel, that's all they want.
If you really don't like Fox, just cancel your cable subscription. Honestly, are the other channels really that much better? As long as everyone has cable there will be a Fox News, your paying for it every month!

God this is frustrating. Instead of showing all the question and answers, instead the stations cut away and the talking heads have to give their take on what we just saw. I don't need Chris Matthews or anyone else to interpret this for me, I can understand for myself.

Glenn Beck is the perfect fit for Fox Noise. I say this because once again he speaks, rants, carries on without listening or understanding what is being said by the Democratic Party. His tunnel vision is unbelievable. It is time for Mr. Beck to take the cotton out of his ears and truly listen when a Democrat speaks. There is nothing subversive in what the Democrats are saying or doing and the policies are not evil nor created to burn down the country.
If Mr. Beck would take the time to listen to the questioning done by the Democrats he would see it is substantive and informative.
