Judging from last night's performance, Lou Dobbs is pinning his hopes on salvaging the tattered shreds of his credibility on claiming that, gosh, he was just reporting objectively on the "birther" controversy:

First of all, merely covering a story on your network means you think the story has some credibility. Yet every working journalist who has acquainted himself with it has recognized it for what it is -- a groundless conspiracy theory concocted by extremist wingnuts looking for any kind of possible ax to grind with Obama and willing to fabricate stories out of whole cloth.
In other words, it's the kind of story that no responsible journalist will devote any more than a dismissive sentence to reporting. But then, Lou Dobbs is not what you would call a responsible journalist.
But really, one doesn't demonstrate the skepticism or objectivity that Dobbs pretends he was exercising here by claiming "no one" knows "the reality" regarding Obama's birth certificate and remorselessly demanding to know where Obama's birth certificate is -- when in fact everyone's been trying to explain to him that it's in Hawaii (as indeed he finally reported last night).

Of course, Dobbs has an opinion about what should happen if Obama were proven not to be a citizen: everything he's done as president is illegal.

The certificate Obama produced is the exact certificate every Hawaiian gets when they request a birth certificate and is valid for all legal purposes. Why is Dobbs such an idiot that he cannot research this simple fact? The other thing I heard him say once was that a "certification of live birth" is not a birth certificate. Colbert had a great routine about this yesterday when he said a certification of live birth is as useless as a federal reserve note because it doesn't say "money" on it.

At one time I thought Dobbs was a straight up guy but since Obama was elected he has shown himself to be a partisan right wing hack and he definitely doesn't like Obama .

there was a two year stint there where he was spot on with W. often still misguided on social issues but pretty accurate with National politics. funny enough, I've never cared for Dobbs and the last couple of years I thought maybe I had him all wrong before, but he set me straight again, about 6 mos. before the changing of the prez. If I seem protective of him here I'm not, It just irks me that a some here spout off at the keyboard about nonsense that is out of context. I'm a firm believer the ends don't justify the means and when it seems like many are doing that here, this place just turns into the left's version of the MSM. I wish somebody would moderate the stories when it comes to context. or maybe It's my fault perhaps I shouldn't come here for "news stories"
