Glenn Beck was in prime form last night. He warned everyone up front that he wasn't arguing that eugenics are about to descend on America.
But then it becomes clear that what he is arguing is that the Democrats and progressives in general and President Obama in general are just like the Nazis. And in case you didn't get it the first time, he caps the whole thing off by comparing a Nazi cartoon to liberals' dismissal of the teabaggers.
Of course, he knows he can get away with this kind of nonsense because, hey, if Rush can get away with it, he probably can, too.
And he makes plain that he completely supports Sarah Palin's intimations of "death panels" and subscribes to her view that universal health care will bring about euthanasia.
In other words, he's a "deather."
Oh, and as an added bonanza, he cries. Again. He always does this whenever he mentions his disabled daughter. Which reminds me: Why do these people who get all indignant when their families get mentioned always hold their families up for public displays of whatever political point they want to make? Just wondering.

I found a list and wrote to Apple and Radio Shack, two sponsors I would and have supported in the past, but will no longer, until I hear they are off FOX completely, since FOX supports the talk, and if they till run ads ON FOX, THEY STILL SUPPORT BECK, even if indirectly. And Beck is not the ONLY problem at FOX. There is nothing I need enough that I will have to cross that line and purchase, or avail myself of those services. Even Astra Zeneca-if I had to take one of their drugs, I'd stop it.
His comparing everything to the Nazis denigrates and lessens the awfulness my elderly Jewish friends went through and the shit my Norwegian family suffered during WWII and the hands of genuine Nazis, if nothing else. It's shameful.

I've related this before but I'll say it one more time, Cablevision removed MSNBC from my list non-BOX channels, i.e., if I want MSNBC in any of the rooms I have a TV, I need to rent another BOX which would be quite a bit of money in a year relative to what I'm paying now. However, they didn't remove FOX or CNN or CSPAN or any of the religious channels. They did take off some other channels but the glaring removal is MSNBC especially in light of allowing FAUX and CNN to remain available. Now, MSNBC certainly is biased but I like to see BS called BS and I'm not seeing that on any other channel other than MSNBC (except possibly for Jon Stewart on Comedy Central, COMEDY CENTRAL for heaven's sake). So, we can boycott sponsors of Fox and CNN and all that but I'm going after Cablevision with a strongly worded letter regarding the things that beck and o'reilly have said and indicating to Cablevision that if they're going to make Playboy and some of the other "smut" channels pay-for-view, they should consider making Fox and CNN ppv also. OR, remove them just like they did MSNBC. Of course, I wouldn't mind if I had the option for MSNBC and they could delete Fox.

I'm an out of work Jr. High teacher let go because I was about to attain tenure. there were 25 of us sacraficed to the god of saving money. instead of issuing pink slips they just non re elected all that were easily gotten rid of. Never mind that my student's state scores were better than the whole department (and were lower level learners to begin with.) then the district took out an ad in the paper saying how that even with the budget cuts that district had to issue NO PINK SLIPS!
btw, at the district I was at, not only were we encouraged to NOT teach history, but flat out told NOT to teach it because the state doesn't test it, so it's not important!

When you write the NFL and NASCAR as well. Tell them if FOX continues to allow hate speech that you will refuse to watch any NFL game or NASCAR race (even if you never would anyway) that is broadcast on that channel. a very basic biology test (as in junior-high basic), when they go around thinking they are qualified to give an opinion on such a complex subject as stem-cell research.
However, this is nothing but yet another display of Beck's penchant for projection. In a sense, if he had his way and funding for stem-cell research was canned, he would be negating people out of a possible treatment and thus a cure... thus sentencing them to a life of misery all in the name of Beck's superstition taking preference over the needs of sick people. Which sounds like Beck has his very own "death panel" if he gets his way...
When these assholes succeed in getting Obama or somebody close to him killed we will show them what blow back is all about. Beck better have a bunker ready because the yelling and screaming he will not be able to endure. Stand by with your megaphones.

I finally saw someone state that the insurance companies are truly ruled by death boards. We cancel your insurance, you die, we get richER.
But this needs to be blamed on unfettered capitalism. Capitalism is good, as long as people aren't killed for profit. And most big companies do this: layoffs leading to loss of health insurance leading to death, payoffs to have environmental destruction ignored, poison level limits increased, letting pharmaceutical companies write bills to their advantage, and countless other examples.
This kind of capitalism is, IMO, sublimated warfare. These executives are in a war to make the most money for themselves and their investors. And we are the hapless population in the war-zone and are taking collateral damage.

So ignoring all the Nazi idiocy his central argument is that we don't have infinite money and spending beyond your means is a bad thing and can get us into situations where we have to make tough spending choices.
Fair enough, I can agree with that. So you'd think we could have a rational debate about what our spending priorities are. Military? Welfare? Medical care? Infrastructure? Disaster preparedness? Science? Industry subsidies? How much bang for our buck do we get from each dollar we spend. Where can we cut spending in low value areas or shift it to higher value areas. For instance I'd throw out that we could probably save a fair chunk by not involving ourselves in wars of opportunity with no tangible benefits. Or that funding a standing military that dwarfs the rest of the world's is probably not necessary to ensure our security. Or that simply allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices would probably save a fair chunk without negatively impacting the American citizenry.
You'd also think that given the right's concern about our spending they would be champions for balancing the budget.
Not so much though. These spending concerns seem to only relate to any spending done by our "socialist" president irregardless of the value provided. Starting unnecessary wars? No concern. Keeping people healthy? Evil socialism!!! Running up massive deficits under Republican presidents. Doesn't matter. Spending on infrastructure to stimulate the economy? Selling out our grandchildren's future!!!
It makes me think large portions of the right are not arguing in good faith. Shocking I know.

See, this is where the cognitive dissonence happens. Don't we all agree that health care for everyone should be a right? I'm in Canada and it is here, and if I'm not mistaken, it is in every other "civilized" first-world country. How much money does the US spend on the Pentagon? The CIA and its "black Ops" budget? OK, we all know about TARP, instituted during the waning years of Bush and noone really knows where all that dough went. The money Bush gave Medicare for prescription drugs, lets not forget about that. Oh, and the few billions here and there that were "lost" in Iraq...Oh, and also, the 3.2 trillion that went unaccounted for at the Pentagon according to Donald Rumsfeld on Sept.10/01.
You know, I was watching CNN and they were breaking down all the waste in health care. Billions because of people who are in bad shape (thanks, in large part to cheap fast food), people who smoke (thank you, Tobacco Industry) and billions also going down the black hole of Insurance Company overhead. I don't discount personal responsibily for an individual's health, but constant corporate advertising certainly doesn't help the situation.
As for Beck, I agree with Roger Ebert in that he is arguably the most dangerous man on television. Comparing the Democrats to Nazis?? I mean, for Chrissakes! What is Obama supposed to be now, Hitler? I thought he was a socialist, or was it a communist, or was it a terrorist, or a muslim? Is it any wonder all these crazies are showing up at these Town Halls? It was interesting that when Obama's town hall was held, the people there were drawn at random and that I found most of the crowd to be supportive of the president.
As for these quotes from Obama's "backroom boys", who are these people are were they taken out of context? I'd only heard of Rahm's brother.
