Yet another Republican fearing the dread Obamahitler
By David Neiwert Tuesday Nov 18, 2008 5:30amFrom the Mankato Free Press, the wit and wisdom of a fellw named Paul Bade, "a Mankato resident and self-employed electronics repairman" "who has been active in GOP politics since he was 10 years old":
Bade considers Obama’s rise to be similar to that of Adolph Hitler’s in the 1930s, and he believes there’s an outside chance that America is headed for a dictatorship. More likely is a slide to socialism or, perhaps, just an inept presidency, he said.
“I’m almost expecting the Obama administration to make a botch of things,” Bade said. “They’re too ideologically socialist, and a lot of their ideas are impractical. They just don’t add up.”
When you hear right-wing pundits and politicians proclaim this garbage, you have to at least partially chalk it up to their desire to garner bigger ratings and attention by "pushing the envelope" -- it seems more cynical than sincere.
But the long-term effect is that gullible right-wing footsoldiers soak this shit up and internalize it. They really do believe it.

When we were screaming about the bushite administration being fascist, and their methods of gaining and maintaining power VERY VERY close to Hitlers, they called us idiots, and told us to study history....
Assholes!
Can't win without cheating, and when they lose, they cry Nazi...
Fuckin crybabies!
we can point to real evidence showing the power grabs Bushco was making, we can show evidence that it was Bushco who was locking up people without charges and without a chance to challenge their dentention, add to this the Bush Doctrine and you have the makings of a facist regime then Obama's plan to help the middle class.
But then Paul Bade sounds like a typical ignorant republican, so what do you expect?
with cold hard facts for so long...then their brains turn from mush to goo.
Where has this dimwit been for the last eight years ?!?!?!?!?! Ah, the future of the republican party. Soldier on, dimwit!
that someone would say this amidst the rubble and destruction wrought from the bush admin.
staggering.
emanating from the right is deafening!
They are in such disarray...they can't even get their lies straight!
I had the same thought about this:
What happens to them psychologically when, say, an Obama administration gets mucho kudos for pulling America away from the brink of economic disaster and the majority of citizens are finally satsified that their Constitutional rights are being upheld and taxpayer money benefits them, not the religious right or corporations? IOW, what will they think when America returns to her greatness?
Will they be able to handle it? Or will they forever stay around whining and making threats about their bully fantasies?
And America will forge ahead without them.
Like this?
....the fucking word should be expunged from our language.
The things that are being said about this man-Democratically elected, and before he's even taken office, is an attack on our process.
Cheat to win, cry foul when our guy wins fairly...
That mentality was reinforced from childhood most likely...
Probably were hard to be around when they were kids...
They can "love it or leave it" and kiss my ass.
Considering his stature and his inability to see past what George W. Bush has done for the past eight years... kissing ass may be a bit tame... he can "slurp my butt."
Anti-American right wing fucktards.
Yes, I'd sure hate to see the Obama administration make a total mess of all the good things that W has done. Were they to botch up W's work, we'd have an end to a meaningless war, an end to administrators appointed well beyond their qualifications, an end to politicization of the Justice Dept., an end to the global financial meltdown, an end to gross malfeasance and corruption at the top of unregulated corporations...etc.
Yes, that would be horrible.
Do you know how hard W. worked to bankrupt the nation and throw the Middle East into turmoil so the eschatalogical wet dreams of Jimmy Dobson and others could come true?
Damn you!
Hard core righties never look in the mirror and question their own team. These are the same people that love Democratic programs when it helps them, but scorn Democrats having programs that help others.
As for the Fascism and Hitler memes, they do not know what they mean, nor do they know history. I am waiting for them to throw out the Machiavelli meme soon, as well.
These people are ignorant and what makes people around the world worry about the power that the US possesses and the ignorance behind that power.
Bush appointing his 'good friend' Mike Brown to head up FEMA. Even praising his work.
Along comes Katrina. Disaster. Bush is shocked, shocked, I tell you. Brown is denounced as inept, corrupt, unworthy. And Bush appoints Chertoff (who I still say looks way too much like Felix Dzerzhinsky).
Heil Obama... LOL!
Or how about,"Yes, Sig Heil"?
The nits do not know the difference between a socialist and a fascist?!?!
The nits do not know the difference between welfare and unemployment compensation.
They would not know a socialist if they fell over one.
But conflating a socialist and a fascist, that takes some doing.
They SHOULD know a fascist because we have had one for eight years.
But…
He was their bud, wasn't he one of them?
They make me so very angry....my neighbor...not the one that believes the earth is only 7000 years old, but the other one...he said that Obama is goin to enslave the white race...this bullshit, coming from an otherwise very smart person...I was shocked...I told him to stop listening to Rush, and turn off Fox news...he glared at me like I'd just eaten a puppy.
Is your neighbor serious???????
Is he mentally ill, or just plain clueless?
Gee..more projection, given that the white race has enslaved every other ehtnic group on the planet..
Your neighbor should study history. Rightly or wrongly the Southern states were worried during Reconstruction, that newly elected black officials would retaliate against them, which they never did.
But then under Grant Reconstruction, a Federal policy, was rolled back for Guilded interests, and the entire group got locked down into the Jim Crow system.
Those southern fucks were also very afraid that if the freed slaves had been given the "forty acres and a mule" they would have completely outworked those shiftless racist fucks and would have ruled the south. It is a history of fear and guilt.
I wouldn't be surprised if it might of have been the expense of 40 acres and a mule, because they were competing for the same money.
I never thought that freed successful farmers might be seen as direct competition, so even if the white farmers weren't shiftless (which sounds like a reverse racist insult,) they could be overwhelmed by the sheer number.
The increased quantity supply would probably also lower prices for produce. 40 acres seems a bit large for substenance farming only.
He even said it with fear in his voice.
I'm still waiting to hear in what way Obama's economic plan is the same as Communist Socialism. If only one of these simpering poltroons was made to actually back their position up with something.
But I guess knowin' stuff is fer libruls.
PRECISELY. The GOP base spews LABELS, remaining ignorant of history or definitions. It is fascinating that they label president-elect Obama as both a socialist and a fascist, in the same breath.
Q. So, what will we call a Socialist, Fascist, Pallin'-Around-with-Terrorists, Eloquent, Inexperienced, African-American, Differently-Named, Secret-Muslim, Anti-Christ?
A. MR. PRESIDENT!
Right wingers constantly accuse the left of possessing the traits that in fact define the right- hence right wingers, such bigoted and fascist Michael savage, who often calls the left bigots and fascists.
Right wing Christians who use hate and bigotry to demand everyone worship Jesus often claim that *they* are the ones being oppressed and and the victims of intollerance.More projection.
The right wing calling the left fascist is very old and tiresome-yet classic projection. Remember, these are people who felt that those who oppose torture hate freedom.
But the long-term effect is that gullible right-wing footsoldiers soak this shit up and internalize it. They really do believe it.
Not unlike the true believers in the Obama camp, unfortunately...
Skepticism is both a necessity and a virtue, imho...
There's skepticism and then there's steaming horseshit.
Is there such a thing as extreme ignorance? Either this guy is ignorant as hell or he is just talking to hear his own voice. Probably from the same group that believes the Clintons killed dozens of people.
That live in North Mankato, the kids are all f'ed up from the conservative teachings...similar to Wasilla and other mid-western areas where they teach "just say no" to teenage sex and the like, most of the girls were knocked-up early there too.
A local right wing radio blowhard who remains a total apologist for Bush often equates liberalism and the Democratic party to fascism.
He feels FDR was as fascist as Hitler and Stalin.
He insists Hitler was a left wing liberal. He asserts that Hitler was head of a Socialist party, hence he was a liberal.
Um, Hitler was a far right wing radical...
Do these right wingers ever bother to read history books, or do they just make it up as they go along?
That's because Nazis called themselves a National Socialist movement, but then Communist Russia called themselves the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, does that mean they were Republicans?
was newspeak, and anyone with a brain should know that :)
That was my point, the conservatards see the words Socialist in that and claim it was leftist, when clearly it was far right.
An inept president would be difficult to accept after the thoughtful and competent governance we've enjoyed for the last eight years.
When vermin such as this Bade dude come crawling out of the woodwork it's time to clean house. Lots of work to do.

I have attended a conference in Mankato for a number of years, and believe me, not everyone there is like this idiot.
of Mankato before. I'm sure it's a lovely town, and props to it for having its newspaper online. However, I'm getting tired of has-beens and underachievers from small towns (Palin, Joe the Dumber, this guy, etc) gaining the national spotlight, in part due to the fact that their words get thrown out over the internets and given the light of day.
I don't fault C&L. But I only have so many "15 minutes of fame" segments to waste on these fuckwits.
As Fred Blase said, "I'm looking for the guy who's supplying the dimes..."
The commenter writes as though the Obama presidency has destroyed the country and shredded the Constitution.
Nevermind that Obama hasn't even assumed office yet.
Gosh, that Obama sure is clever to accomplish a dictatorship without ever having assumed office!
I am from a social democratic nation, just as the other scandinavian countries, and let me tell you, having merely an annual payroll of about 60 000,- USD (given a NOK/USD rate of 6,25 or so, used to be a rate of 5, but a crisis hits small currencies harder), and paying about 18 000,- of it in tax for healthcare, a pension fund and all other public services is pure hell.
/snark
You might want to point to average salaries in our nations when they whine.
Iceland is a particular case, Norway had a bank crisis in the late '80s and Sweden in '90s. Iceland and the US failed to learn from us, and the world reaps the consequences, fortunately, all our govt. has to do, is give our banks cheap loans to keep credit flowing. Any losses incurred by buying crappy packages from the US, the banks have to cover themselves. Those laws enacted around 1990 seem very wise right now.

Yeah. Just like the denizens of C&L and similar blogs think that the election of Obama is some kind of mandate for progressive politics.
Which it was not.
Obama is to the right of CDN PM Harper, and Harper's a hard core conservative. Obama is NOT all out for progressive politics. If he was, he would not have appointed Rahm Emanuel to be his CoS.
As grand as the Obama victory is, 47% of the voters voted for John McCain. That's a HUGE percentage, and it indicates that there is MASSIVE resistance to Obama's politics, which, as noted above, are conservative by most international standards.
So, when the right wing loonies fear some Socialist gov't, they really have no idea what that means and are clearly stupid in their notions. At the same time, the left is goign to have to quit with the euphoria and get down with the fact that, yet again, they've been jobbed. This was no mandate for progressive politics. It was a sound rejection of Bush and a reaction to the financial disaster. It was not a shift into some great progressive future. The vote on Prop 8 proves it.
"Petulant" and "MASSIVE" are not synonyms, tweak.
The thing I'm confused about is this: if America is not really progressive, and Obama is not really progressive, then why is there MASSIVE resistance to his politics?

47% is MASSIVE, petulant or otherwise.

Hey Rusty - it's simple, really. Obama is center right, and a significant portion of this country is straight up hard-right wing, and another significant portion is deeply racist and/or straight up reactionary/fascist.
It's like comparing Putin/Medvedev to Brezhnev and his troika. They are dictators, they are brutal, and they are hell bent on keeping power. Just because Putin doesn't have the same massive gulag that Brezhnev had means that he's some kind of friend to the common man. They both suck - Putin sucks less.
Obama is NOT some hero. He has a LOT of work to do before he can even vaguely declare progressive credit. Frankly, Emanuel (an apologist for the Likud and hardcore DLC douchebag - note that as soon as Emanuel was installed, Dean quit the DNC) was an EXTREMELY poor choice. Putting Clinton in at State is another EXTREMELY poor choice.
As soon as oil really goes into decline in the next few years, you'll see the USA either break apart like the Soviet Union, or drift into poverty like post pharoanic Egypt.
and picking up house and senate seats is NOT a mandate. GW Bush winning with 51% of the vote and LOSING house/senate seats on the other hand, now THAT was a mandate!!!
And where does sheer insanity do when it has nowhere to go?
The psychological perceptual state equivalent to being hooked on cough syrup and belladona.
Seems to be the fashion among the deposed GOP. This guy is probably very well off. It seems to me the ones who are most scared of an Obama Administration are Bush's twenty-percenters, those that make over two hundred grand a year, big corporations and of course, the bigots. What it boils down to is these folks will start having to pay taxes and paying penalties for selling out America and it's People. The folks who are struggling from week-to-week and month-to-month, also known as the former middle class, are just plain tapped out. There are a lot of people who will get kicked off the gravy train when Dick and George finally get their fat criminal asses out of OUR White House and Obama starts to undo all their damage.
Another problem with the analogy was racial. Although for argument sake Obama could be hiding racial attitudes, he's biracial, not the "pure race" that Hitler insisted upon.
Minnesota reelected McCarthy worshiper Michele Bachmann. There is nothing that can be said or done where such ignorance and stupidity abounds. Think of it as a continental version of Alaska.
Mr bade is also anti-evolution.
He probably thinks palin is a hot MILF too...

Yo, Chuck! It's time to write a clever column about Obama Derangement Syndrome. And time for Malikin, Coulter and all the other winger pundits to chime in with expressions of horror at the hateful right and their irrational hatred for Barack Obama. At least Bush Derangement Syndrome came about after he'd been in office a few years and given people a battery of reasons to dislike him. Obama? Not even sworn in, as I recall.
It is because Americans see the absolute stupidity, lies and dishonesty that Reslugs got their dumb asses kicked on election day.
I sure wish these people could decide whether Obama's victrory was an endorsement of center-right politics or socialism. You can't have it both ways.
I believe their argument is this: America is a "center-right" country, as shown by the recent landslide victory of a socialist candidate over a center-right candidate.
Funny how reich wingers twist things around- they still assert the US is a right wing country, despite Obama winning- and they don't even give him credit for winning- they argue Obama didn't win- rather, McCain lost...
We had to put up with FascistChimp for 8 years let them put up with "Obamahitler". At least the American people actually, you know, voted for "Obamahitler".
This just plays over in my head
New Rule: anyone who compares Obama with a certain dictator from WWII should be sent to a remedial history course in Community College to learn what they either missed or flat-out ignored. (This would apply also to Limbaugh, Coulter, Beck, O'Reily, etc.)
wow.....Bachman.........now Bade rural minnesota is getting bright red. some factions of the republican
party will do anything to be empowered.
If all it takes to destroy America is Obama saying "Allahuakbar!" on January 20, then she wasn't all that strong to begin with.
I'm sick of the whining that someone's come to take away their little plastic Jesus and fish stickers, or their little white Christian paradise.
Let's just say, for discussion's sake, that Obama is the secret Muslim socialist antichrist the conservative brain trust has made him out to be. Come January 21, talk radio will fall silent as Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage and others are replaced by the muezzin calling the faithful to prayer. Ann Coulter, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, and others will be clad in burqas.
And they're all just going to go along with this quietly ....?
Face it, the dawn of the Obama Reich is going to be greeted with Joe Sixpack yawning, belching, and shuffling off to the john like any other day.
eventually they'll stop running around and yelling and just lay down and take a nap.
It is pointless trying to debate the lunatic right. Everything that isn't part of their fundamentalist Christian, gun toting, violence loving, militaristic, and paranoid existance is dark and evil. They think in absolutes and authoritarianism is only bad when it might apply to them. The Alex Jones types believe in some vast occult conspiracy that is bent on ruling humanity. That they are the ONLY ones who have the courage and intelligence to investigate and expose a super secret society. But what you really have is a kind of strange projection of their internal world. They are anti-Semitic, misogynistic, racist, and impotent losers.
Soooo this guy had no problem with the signing statements and subversion of checks and balances by the wannabe dictator that we call Dubya but he's now whining that Obama is going to be a dictator? Is he really this stupid or is he just a racist partisan?
A blind spot. Or, more correctly, it's a serious flaw in the Christian belief structure, that someone who goes to church and says their prayers and makes all the necessary polite noises ...
... can't do anything wrong.
Furthermore, it's the typical Evangelical habit of denouncing anyone who isn't THEIR kind of Christian.
Boy do you know your evangelicals. That is sooooo very true.
the gop never thinks about the fucking
dictator in the wh now. fuck them all
You betcha, they give the bastard in the white house a pass. All I have to say is look at the last 8 years of rule under the republicans. They are the ones that are messing with the DOJ office. I live in TN and I was at the doctors office today when a lady said her sister believes that Obama is the anti-christ and he will cure Kennedy of his brain cancer. I told her her sister was igornant of the facts. She said that her sister believes he is a Muslim. How can anyone show these nuts any different. They believe all this crap.
They are worried about Obama being a socialist dictator? As opposed to the one we have now. God are these wingnuts fucking stupid. Do they even remotely consider reality in their daily existence of complete dilusion and ignorance?
That he killed communists.
..can begin to work and to demonstrate what a federal government for the people is supposed to be about in the first place (such as basic transparency and pro-active decision-making), then all we have in the meantime is pure conjecture.
Try to be patient, folks. Barack hasn't even taken the stage yet. I predict that the first four years of his presidency will sway even many of his present detractors.
Our Zecret Zervis vill haf the means to vatch dem.
Muhuahahahaha!
