Admiral Mullen says we need to close Guantanamo Bay

On ABC's THIS WEEK, Admiral Mullen reiterated President Obama's call to close Guantanamo Bay to be closed.
The concern I've had about Guantanamo in these wars is it has been a symbol, and one which has been a recruiting symbol for those extremists and jihadists who would fight us. So and I think that centers -- you know, that's the heart of the concern for Guantanamo's continued existence, in which I spoke to a few years ago, the need to close it," Mullen said.
Didn't the Bush administration and all their flunkies, including Newt Gingrich, say that you can never go against the military or you hate the troops?
REP. GINGRICH: Let me say, first of all, there were over 550,000 troops who served in Iraq. I'm sure you can find one to agree with you.
OK, I guess Newt only likes troops who agree with his positions, and I guess Admiral Mullen is one of those troops too. Well Newt, are you now putting all your hate on the members of our armed forces who want to close Gitmo?

president Obama listens to his top brass military leaders from the field. both mullen and gates say close it. he doesn't give a damn what gingrich says or liz/dick cheney.

memo to George Stephanopoulos: "Guantanamo Bay" is a geographic formation. No one is proposing closing Guantanamo Bay. Nor is anyone proposing closing the Naval Installation at Guantanamo Bay. The US has a perpetual lease on that piece of land, granted in 1898. The proposal is to close the US Detention Center at Guantanamo Bay.
I think it would be a good idea to close the Base as well as the prison. I understand there's a bunch of underwater listening for subs entering the Gulf in that location, but I don't think the value is worth the drain.
I'm all for a Coast Guard presence, but not so big a Naval base.
Sure he give lip service, but no action ... if he really wanted it closed ... it would be by now. ... it's not just him ... it's the dnc ... they are in with the rnc ... elite controlled ... world domination and all that. I've seen reports that Obama merely plans to move facilities like that to a different location ... nothing more ... "meet the new boss ... same as the old boss" ... WHO.
