KCTV5 exposed Phil Kline for being a typical conservative crook in a the above video clip, and C&L had a hand in exposing it to the media in KS.
Logan Murphy wrote this back on 11/28/07:

Kansas City CBS affiliate KCTV5 conducted a 6 month investigation of Phil Kline, the religious zealot and rabid anti-abortion District Attorney of Johnson County, Kansas that has now caught fire on blogs nationwide, earning C&L a nod for our coverage. The investigation uncovered some dirty secrets about Kline's true residency and his apparent lack of work ethics -- and now he's running for cover...read on

cjonline:

Thousands of Kansans opened their mailboxes Thursday to find a solicitation letter from former Attorney General Phill Kline that invokes physician George Tiller and Planned Parenthood while seeking contributions for a campaign against abortion rights.

The five-page mailing from Kline was placed into circulation by an Ohio company May 27, a spokesman for Kline said, which would have been four days before Tiller was shot and killed at a church in Wichita.

“There was no way to foresee what was going to happen,” said spokesman Brian Burgess. “I think it’s fair to say the timing is unfortunate.”

Kline, who filed criminal charges against Tiller while serving as attorney general, targeted the solicitation at former political supporters. He is trying to eliminate $200,000 in personal legal debt that piled up during the past six years. The letter also says cash was needed by Life Issues Institute, an anti-abortion organization in Cincinnati affiliated with Kline, to “launch more aggressive battles on the national front.”

“I need your support,” Kline says in the piece. “Your contributions will help us continue this fight and defray our legal expenses.”
---
Monnat said Kline’s pursuit of Tiller wasted millions of dollars in public resources. It would be improper for the public to pay an additional price for Kline’s failed campaign against the late doctor, he said.

“Phill Kline now wants to con taxpayers into paying him the attorney fees generated by the investigation of his bamboozlement,” Monnat said. “This solicitation is a tasteless piece of propaganda that ought to make Kansas citizens glad the voters of Johnson County ridded this state of Phill Kline.”

He's the lowest of the low, and that's not only coming from me. The people of Johnson County booted him out on his head as he lost his re-election bid. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Like Randall Terry, Kline is looking for the anti-choice movement to bail him out. He's another component of the assassination equation here as well.

klein was actually playing sneaky peeky with people's medical files in violation of the privacy act.

Since it was printed before Dr. Tiller was murdered by a terrorist, he couldn't start the fundraising letter with "One down, ___ to go..."

Hopefully some of the recipients of Kline's letters will be shocked at the timing and decline to donate.

"Gosh, he's one of the greatest heroes we know."

Idiots.

How rare is it to see investigative reporting on the local news?! A+ for effort, even if it's still dumbed-down dreck.

He actually didn't do too bad a job (even though it was a bit overly dramatic). Consider, too, that this reporter probably is taking a bit of a risk, given the fact that he's not white and has a "foreign-sounding" name. Kind of ballsy.

And at least this was "investigative reporting" that has something to do with public corruption--not just another stupid sex sting or "hidden camera" gotcha job on a local celebrity.

Kline....get a job, get a life, or better yet.... don't...just crawl under a rock and die

the DOJ INVESTIGATES. I have a feeling it was NOT a coincidence that Tiller was murdered just then.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Kentucky pastor is inviting people to bring their guns to church to celebrate the Fourth of July and the Second Amendment.

New Bethel Church is welcoming "responsible handgun owners" to wear their firearms inside the church on June 27, a Saturday.

An ad says there will be a handgun raffle, patriotic music and information on gun safety.

Church pastor Ken Pagano says guns must be unloaded and private security will check visitors. He says recent church shootings make it necessary to promote safe gun ownership.

Marian McClure Taylor is executive director of the Kentucky Council of Churches.

She says churches work to prevent violent harm and promote peace, but most "allow for arms to be taken up under certain conditions."

The American Taliban.

I saw this already and emailed it to my brother, he replied (sarcastically) that if they had all had guns in Dr. Tiller's church that shit would not have happened. Sorry, I know, tasteless.

That may have been mass murder (pun?)

"Holy Crap"

What concerns me about gun nuts in general is that anyone who is stupid enough to think you need a gun anywhere you go is too stupid to have a gun at any time.

So where do sane people go now to be away from all the assholes carrying guns everywhere?

Bars? ummm... no.
National parks? ummm... no.
Church? ummmm... no.

Nothing more than a dick measuring contest to me. A gun fiesta where guys can come together and compare calibers and barrel length.

And they can have a shoot out with your family in the middle of it.

There's really not a whole lot of evidence that owning a gun or having one on your person does anything more than get you killed with it.

It's gotten so that there's no place anyone can go to be reasonably distanced from all the fucking nuts.

What an example we are to the rest of the world.

Okay, I have a gun. It's a .22 pistol. I keep it at home, I live alone etc. Anyway, sometimes I go to the shooting range to practice (a matter of safety in my opinion) and ya'll should see some of the guys and their guns there. It's fucking hilarious. Do you really need a .50 cal desert storm fucking thing on a tripod for home protection? Oh yeah, I live in Texas. Sigh.........

I actually enjoy shooting but I don't own a gun. Personally I like more manual type weapons anyway. I enjoy skill things. Bows, boomerangs, throwing knives, that sort of thing.

But like I said, I enjoy shooting. But I don't want to kill anything ever.

I'm not against guns. It's the zealot gun nuts who are the problem and they are the last people I think should own them.

I can't kill the june bugs that fly through my window at night. But I would object to home invasion and I would probably use my stupid gun to protect myself if I had to.

But you don't strike me as an irrational, asshole gun nut either.

No, I'm not. I the type of person that can own a gun and not get all batshit crazy.

)O(

I wonder what the bathroom door says in the Batcave.

"For a good time..."

"1-800-BAT-GIRL"?

It's says...
Send more youthful wards!

)O(

Batshit. Heh heh. Good one.

but come on marcellajoy....ya gotta admit...those .50 cal desert storm fuckin thing is pretty damn cool, lol!

Yeah, truth be told I got one of those fuckers on the tripod aimed out my front window. Wanna come over?

If you have a pair of them you can do the Yosemite Sam hover.

Point them straight down, fire away and hover five feet off the ground.

I TOTALLY going to try that.

I'm

Tip: Wear good boots. :)

Check that. Wear old boots you don't care about. :D

What do you think is the best adult beverage for this type of endeavor?

A half gallon of tequila. You won't feel a thing.

I was thinking Jack Daniels was more appropriate. .50 cal go with the Jack. Anything less you can go with tequila.

And it's not August yet. I always forget to pay attention to the details. Sorry.

Jack it is then. Be sure to post it on YouTube.

You betcha! (wink)

)O(

Hipboots.

At least you admit it's "my stupid gun"

I'm not quite as talented with my machete. It's more of a close range weapon. And yes, it is a stupid gun.

Lee Enfield (.303 British) and a Mosin-Nagant (7.62x54R) myself. Fun to take out to the range and shoot. And they're nice pieces of history too.

.....what starts out as a peaceful Sunday sermon, erupts into a shootout between church members and some nut case! Ultimately, the pastor puts an end to the violence by spraying the congregation with bullets from his AK-47!

What will they think of next?

...with an underbarrel M-203 grenade launcher.

That's God's rifle, 100% made in America.

Everyone should be packin while they're worshipin.

)O(

Hope the people of Kansas wake up to this rip off and scam. What an evasive sack of shit.

There are a few rational human beings in Kansas. (Sometimes I think there are very few, but that's not the point.) We keep trying to get rid of Kline, but the damned man is like athlete's foot. He just keeps coming back.

Neighbor to Johnson County KS. I know a few sane Kansans, not many, but the worst of the worst hail from JoCo. Lots of McMansions, and the ones that can't afford that vote for the rich people they want to be. Of course I don't want to generalize based on someone's home, but they're all dumbfucks as a rule.

when Republicans are in charge. Corruption, politically motivated firing and hiring, and always, always, always *secrecy.*

As much as many of us are disappointed with some of what Obama has done (or not yet done), it's important to know that this is what our nation looked like immediately preceding him and would've continued to look like under McSame. And without continued vigilence, it'll happen again. A bunch of little Monica Goodlings running around, doing their bosses' (and God's) bidding, whatever that may be.

They may be down right now, but they're highly motivated and can't be counted out.

I absolutely agree.

All those people who celebrated and said the GOP is out for at least a generation are at best kidding themselves.

They'll be back and way too soon. They haven't learned a damn thing. Americans have the attention spans and long term memory of gnats.

Obama will do something that is screwed up but pales in comparison to what the GOP has done. But Americans won't remember that and here comes the GOP again.

My thanks to Mr. Amato and the team for going where print journos no longer tread.

The DOJ can put this guy along with oliar, hannity, beck, perry, limpballs and all the rest of these nut bags out of commission for a very long time.
It would be very good for America.
republicanism is a mental illness!
