Why are Republicans asking Tom Brokaw for answers
By John Amato Monday Oct 06, 2008 4:54pmFO writes to the C&L inbox after watching Tom on Meet the Press Sunday: "What is a "senior Republican" doing calling Brokaw for campaign advice?"
MR. BROKAW: Chuck, a very senior Republican was startled the other day when he called me and said, ‘What in the world is going on in Florida? Why are we in trouble there?’
He is moderating Tuesday's Presidential Debate so I think it's called "working the refs." I'd kind of like to know who that Republican is.

But you covered your ass.
Brokaw better give a far debate tommorrow night or he will end up retiring in shame by the time people are done screaming about it.
Brokaw has been kissing McCain's ass for at least the last three months
Thank God. Brokaw you go man!!! sen Obama is not even a legal US citizen(he has been asked and he cannot prove it). He is evil from the bottom up. Oh he is going to change things. Everyone thinks change always means better. DA DA American wake up. You can kiss your American ass goodby if he is elected. He is not on our side. He is on the side of muslins and every enemy of the United States of America. He has been groomed for one reason, to promote his sorry ass to con every American. He's nothing but a puppet. He is all about socialisiam. By the way why does he critize people with money when he has been given more scam money than he can ever spend. If this is the best the democratic party can come up with after 8 years, this is sad.
Give us another Harry Truman and i'll vote for him in a heartbeat. If this is your best, you democrats are in BIG TROUBLE. He is pathetic
Can't you come up with something better than that? Yep, we have all kinds of non-U.S. citizens serving in the U.S. Congress. Oh brother ... please, something actually worth arguing about would be a challenge, but this stuff you guys keep coming up with is just hysterically funny, and lame!!
Oh no! Now we have to worry about a candidate allied with itchy underwear fabric (those who believe in Islam are not muslins)! And I think Obama does not "critize" rich people so much as acknowledge that those making over $250,000 a year might need to expect to shoulder some of the inevitable tax burden accumulated during 8+ years of short-sighted economic policies.
The "pathetic" moniker should be reserved for the anti-intellectuals who base more on the perceived origins of a name than on the evidence and views presented before them. The United States, and the world, need an Obama presidency lest we lose all credibility as the bastion of liberty and goodness we posture to be.
Wouldn't surprise me.
i doubt it's rove. rove's mellowing with age.
and i swear, the reason he was such a jerk for so long had something to do with the fact that his birthday fall's on christmas.
imagine everyone forgetting it was your birthday every year and not buying you any presents. you just can't outshine jesus...
Boot Brokaw petition http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfgate/de...
Probably a little late now but what they hey?
I said that very thing when I was watching MSNBC.com streaming Meet the Press last night...
He is a frigged shill.
He is even more pathetic then ol 894
looks like the repugs have their october suprise, Obamas foreign donations.
Just when we thought it was safe to go outside....
YouTube took down this video calling out the impending financial meltdown. Just so happens a buddy of mine downloaded this before it was removed.

If they only listen to FOX and Limbaugh and never read the newspapers, they wouldn't know what was going on in Florida. Stupidity loves company!
Was Tom Brokaw Beaten by ‘FOXes’?

Send a comment to NBC and tell them how you feel about Brokaw My comment:
I just want to say that I am very concerned about Tom Brokaw doing the debate on Tuesday. On the last Meet The Press Brokaw intentionally mislead the public with his phony poll he injected at the end of the Steve Schmidt and David Axelrod interview. I used to really like Mr. Brokaw but since he has been filling in on Meet The Press he has shown me he is really a right wing mouthpiece. After this fake poll indecent he has lost his credibility with me and other people I talk to about Meet The Press. Please please please make sure he is fair during the debate. If it is perceived that he is in the pocket for the Republican Party he will be doing NBC a disservice and people will think of them as ABC after Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos moderated the debate on ABC a few months ago. Personally I will never watch ABC again and every time I see a reference to them in a news story I give it no credibility. I sure hope Tom Brokaw does not do that for NBC.
Credibility is a very good word to use with these assholes.
G.E. owns 80% of NBC. They are in McCain's camp. McCain is good for war. G.E. --"We bring 'good things' to life."
DEATH?
I have contacted every agency I can think of, in a most proper timeline, to have Brokaw replaced on Tuesday. To date, no results.
If there is one, tiny inkling of bias during this debate I will be more than furious as should all who demand fairness despite party affiliation.4
The funny/sad thing is, if you search for "tom brokaw bias" the first link is for the GOP shill site mediaresearch.org, which tries to set brokaw up as having a LIBERAL bias...
like the new look john
It was probably John McCain during his nightly bedtime call with Brokaw.
I'm imagining Brokaw laying on his stomach on his bed twirling the cord of his pink phone around his finger talking to his BF Johnny.
It's good to know that when that 3am phone call comes, Tom is ready. I feel so....ummmm....safe.
brokaw's another republican blowhard more concerned about polishing his piggy bank than with coming up with a comprehensive plan for the well-being of all americans.
he also looks like that eagle from "the muppetshow".
I'm tired of his monotone voice, his tired "I need some botox" eyes and his piss poor acting that he is objective.
Democrats don't have anyone that has credibility to hold anyone accountable. Nancy Pelosi is a good starting point for most pathetic.
i tend to agree. republicans are certainly scummier, but democrats are pretty pathetic, too.
i live in illinois, where we have the single most embarrassing democrat in america, rod blagojevich, running the state.
i'm not kidding, i have renounced my membership to the democratic party. i'm bull moose for life. i'll be voting for obama and dick durbin, but i am no longer a dem.
Here's a question Brokaw can ask:
And it's 1, 2, 3, what are we fighting for?

The secret weapon that the Republicans are keeping in reserve will be unveiled a week or so before election day.
George W. Bush will hold a news conference and announce his endorsement of Barack Obama for president.
Women will weep, small children will run into the streets in terror. Men will light themselves on fire with charcoal briquettes. The heavens will open up like a torn shroud and blood will rain down upon the earth.
that is one of the funniest nostradumb@$$ posts i've read it in a while. brilliant!!
with the delusional expectation that any media is not in the tank for the repugs and especially for mcPlainJaneTheFlautist.
"very senior republican?" um, um, I know this, I do, um... McCain!
Reagan.
Look Tom Brokaw is an old timer and friends of these Law Makers. He was an insider and was an Anchor when the Keating 5 Scandal brought out. His comments to protect this information to become headlines isn't suprising. Like today as we saw with the Libby trial Journalist get in bed with the criminal Law Makers. Look Tweety, Andrea and David have all been in bed with the Bush Administration and now are trying to act like they don't know who these guys are now. I'm sure Brokaw got some great investment shares with the help of the criminal GOP Law Makers. Tom just never thought this would come back to bite him in the butt. Now when you lay down with dirty dogs you'll get fleas and Brokaw has fleas.
Reminds me of watching the Sopranos, and Tony asking one of his captains, "Why don't we have control over the *#*$#^& south side district?".
Tom Brokaw is pure puppet material. All bought and paid for.
"BAGDAD" BROKAW, the NWO's "premier" surround sound system, GUARANTEED to be heard everywhere.
What exactly did this senior Republican mean by "we" when talking to Brokaw? Makes you wonder.
.....because the Floridans, and the rest of the U.S., cannot "put the economy behind them"
I wondered the SAME thing when I saw that....and he used the word "we" as in "us repubs". :-P
Why are Republicans asking Tom Brokaw for answers?
Because he is one of them!
I caught that and was wondering the same exact thing. His comments lately should be looked into. He's been making excuses, therefore campaigning for McCain for awhile now.
A reporter talking to a source???!?!! How scandalous!!!!
I suddenly realized what side Tom's bread was buttered on these days, while watching that same show. And that was when Tom "Bukkake" Brokaw referred to Medicare as "an entitlement program". What a tool. Why is that mumbling geezer still on TV, anyway?
The closer we get to election time and the more desperate the McCain supporters feel, the uglier things will get. They're nervous.
What I see coming tomorrow is a repeat of ABC's primary debate on Obama. Brokaw's questions will mostly focus on Obama and those associated (even if only slightly) with him. The economy won't play much of a part in the debate.
Ignore the leading. biased questions Brokaw will give him, and instead, ask McCain some zingers and follow up with solid plans and proposals. Make them look like the un-American shits that they are.
Let's see if Brokaw brings up the "Ayers-connection" tomorrow while ignoring McCains deep involvement in the Keating 5 scandal
I'd put $20 on that, if I had it...
Thanks for the tidbit on Brokaw....
At least it will interesting to see how this debate is framed and see just how far Brokaw will go to massage the GOP message...
Also it's good that hopefully Obama is aware of this particular potential problem and will act accordingly.
it was brokaw's gay lover who called him..either that or his speech coach
Browkaw is McCain's buddy already and he clearly has leanings toward the Republicans...
The media is liberal. Lather, rinse, repeat. Most of the MSM bobbleheads are ridiculously overpaid, so of course they'll back the repug. Why would they want to pay their fair share?
he was talking to himself whilst looking in a mirror
I particularly liked his intro to Palin's sarcastic NYTimes reading of the terrorist in Obama's "closet". He spent much time describing the basis of the attack while asking why Obama had not devoted his campaign time to answering it, because there is much in doubt aboutit.Tom don't you get paid to investigate claims made by campaigns? Isn't it enough to hear it once from Alaskan Barbie? They also played the entire set up of the charge. Why not just the relevant line?
Does anyone remember all the rumors that Brokaw would retire during the Clinton years to go into the administration? I forget how real a rumor it was, but I also remember that when Al Gore decided to concede after the Supreme Court decision in Bush v. Gore he called Brokaw before doing so. Brokaw was talking to him on the phone while speeding on the LIE to get to the studio and was pulled over by the cops while on the phone with the Vice President.
While I am not happy about his recent behavior, I am more inclined to believe that he has not become a partisan but rather (pun) simply remains an insider.
Back after the conventions, Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann were "removed" from doing the political coverage because they were "too biased" for some other "big personalities" at MSNBC/NBC/CNBC. For awhile, I thought it was Andrea Mitchell or Pat Buchanan - but now, it all makes sense - it was Brokaw. That is who got them removed, and on top of it - he somehow wormed his way into moderating this debate. Send him back to Montana - hey, maybe Sarah Palin could help him shoot a moose up there!!!!!
Brokaw is a soft interviewer like Wolf Blitzer.
