The election results were affirmed by Congress with Dick Cheney presiding. Obama's look at Roberts shows that he knows the proper wording, and was following the Chief Justice's recital. At the end, Justice Roberts addresses him as 'Mr. President,' so it's official.

The guy who is about to be in charge of our money is being hounded by the right because he screwed up his taxes and they are saying if he made that mistake, how can he deal with our national finances. Then yesterday we had the chief justice of the Supreme court unable to read the Constitution correctly. Especially a part that most of us know by heart. Using the same way of thinking, how is he supposed to decide big cases if he doesn't even know the Constitution.

The oath is in Article 2 Section 1 of the constitution and reads:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
If not taking the oath exactly as prescribed prevents you from being president, then everyone who added "So help me God" was never president -- including the loser that just left

You're right: We knew this was coming. I did especially, since I come from a right-wing extremist family who I can imagine doing just this sort of thing. I even think that right-wing fuck Roberts did it deliberately as part of a strategy to make Obama's legitimacy as president questionable.
Yet, GW Bush actually stole the 2000 election, but the right-wingers were defiant about that, telling us to "get over it" and "move on", and the stupid Democrats were too civil (or stupid) to make it an issue. If they had, we might not have had Bush as president at all.
There had better be ongoing, lifelong prosecutions of Bush et al for the rest of his life. Persecution, too, if possible.
