The right time for Gay rights is Now. (After we solve every other problem first). As Patriot Patrick Henry said:
“Give me liberty or give me death. Provided nothing else pressing is happening and we have the votes necessary to achieve this liberty and are able to break any filibustering against said liberties and are able reach bi-partisan agreement that these liberties are necessary, warranted and don’t upset anyone.”
Should just call it equality.
The right time for equality is now and everyday!

I thought you would have included Senator Sanders bringing single payer to the floor in the senate?

Sanders is the only one in the Senate that would get my vote, but I don't live in Vermont.
The article makes what must be a mistake:
That can only mean $400 billion saved (out of $2+ trillion health care system overall, presently).
In Washington, NO ONE is even noticed in public when expressing concern about saving $400 million.
statusquObama, change you can only pretend in
they do everything else, so 4 billion is correct if you use the 10 year model, plus everyone is insured.
We are getting ripped off.
Smart, no bullshit, goes on the radio (Thom Hartmann every Friday) to take calls/concerns of citizens.
Way to go Vermont.

The economy that matters is still in a recession/depression: A Manufacturing Middle-Class Still Matters - http://www.hillbillyreport.org/diary/797/a-ma...
One thing that has been lost in the shuffle through decades of free trade zealously is the simple fact that it matters where things are made. With the loss of millions of manufacturing jobs and the closures of hundreds of thousands of factories the ability of our country to innovate and to make the products we consume has been greatly diminished. This in turn has shrunken our middle-class to disasterous levels.
There are two economies....the top 1%er/dividend class 'captains of industry' are doing just fine thank you...and they don't need no middle class 'base' anymore....so the economy that matters for this country goes without notice...
Sounds about right: Gorbachev: George H. W. Bush Called Reagan "Extreme" And GOP Supporters "Blockheads" - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/29/gorb...
Vice President George H. W. Bush confided in Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev that he believed Ronald Reagan was an "extreme conservative" supported by "blockheads and dummies," the former Soviet leader claims."In 1987, after my first visit to the United States, Vice President Bush accompanied me to the airport, and told me: 'Reagan is a conservative. An extreme conservative. All the blockheads and dummies are for him, and when he says that something is necessary, they trust him. But if some Democrat had proposed what Reagan did, with you, they might not have trusted him,'" Gorbachev said in an interview with The Nation.
Gorbachev also noted that, three years ago, he received a five-minute standing ovation from a US Midwest audience when he called for an "American perestroika" to reform the US's economic and social policies. He has since reiterated that call.
The Scarlet NSFW - http://www.scholarsandrogues.com/2009/10/29/t...
Welcome to 17th Century Salem. Welcome to neo-Puritan America, where dismemberments and flying body parts and mushroom clouds and elected officials intentionally and strategically lying to their constituents are cool but a picture of a woman wearing four times more clothing than every teenaged girl around every swimming pool in the United States is NSFW. The Scarlet NSFW brands the wrong person. Those whose visions challenge are to be positioned behind the screen of shame, while those who are afraid of ideas have their narrow prejudices reinforced by official policies and unspoken self-righteous bullying. We will know America has finally attained a measure of enlightenment when the reverse of those statements is true.

Opting out of bait-and-switch ballyhoo. P.M. Carpenter Exclusively for BuzzFlash.com on Thursday, October 29. Harry couldn't deliver. Simple as that. At some unidentified point during the summer, that political reality became uncomfortably apparent to the White House; so then came its not-too-subtle but unavoidable murmurs of "slivers" and "glide paths." What also came was the administration's disproportionate -- but just as unavoidable -- reliance on Republican Olympia Snowe.

Laura Flanders: Sarah Palin's NY-23 Pet Hoffman Has Taliban Ties - http://lauraflanders.firedoglake.com/2009/10/...
Con-servative Party candidate Doug Hoffman has already received the backing of Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and the anti-public-spending Club for Growth. On Monday he was endorsed by another beauty: Dana Rohrabacher, the senior Orange County (CA) Republican who began his career as a speechwriter for President Reagan. Said Rohrabacher “We don’t need Tweedle-Dum or Tweedle-Dee, we need Hoffman. He’s not afraid to stand up and speak the truth.”
Robert Parry: Al-Qaeda Outwitted Bush, Neocons - http://www.consortiumnews.com/2009/102909.html
As security worsens in Afghanistan and Pakistan, it is clear that al-Qaeda and its Taliban allies outwitted President George W. Bush and his neoconservative advisers by tying down U.S. forces in Iraq for five years while the Islamic militants rebuilt their forces for the war on their “central front.”
Its by design actually....it creates the demand for endless war.... simple in its evil nature...

DAILY SHOW EPIC FAIL: Jon Stewart Endorses Geoengineering, Scares Audience (VIDEO) - http://www.treehugger.com/files/2009/10/steph...
Now, one thing Stewart may not understand (since he does not have time to pore over climate blogs, and I, alas, do) is that the controversy is not over whether or not Levitt and Dubner deny global warming. That's not the issue. It's whether they've sited the correct science in producing their view that we should turn to geoengineering as a solution. As it is, their argument remains riddled with errors.
Many scientists (rightly) fear that while geoengineering solutions should be looked at as 'plan b's--that they are potentially dangerous and could produce unintended and irreversible large scale side effects. And Levitt and Dubner seem to have jumped to conclusions to justify the solution they prefer--and Paul Krugman says they even got the economics wrong while doing so.
Also, by naming their chapter 'Global Cooling' and referring to climate science as a 'religion,' Levitt and Dubner knowingly (or if not knowingly, quite ignorantly) invoked two of the primary tropes embraced by the climate change denial movement, perhaps in order to stoke controversy or appear hiply contrarian.

popular websites during pandemic flu outbreak.
The US government has issued a new report that recommends blocking access to popular websites during a pandemic outbreak in order to preserve internet bandwidth for investors, day traders and securities clearing house operations. The concern is that a pandemic would cause too many people to stay at home and download YouTube videos and porn, hogging all the internet bandwidth and blocking throughput for investment activities, thereby causing a stock market meltdown.
