State Of The Union: McCain Concern Trolls "Politics As Usual"
John McCain tries his level best to look concerned for the plight of the average American while he bemoans that gosh, golly gee, the stimulus bill just wasn't bipartisan. That is why, of course, despite his home state of Arizona nearly topping the lists of foreclosures for the country, McCain couldn't bring himself to support the stimulus bill. But what makes his plaintive wailings all that much more amusing is that McCain actually whines about the....wait for it...tax cuts, that he admits have not worked in the past. You know, those tax cuts added to gain bipartisan support? They weren't bipartisan, according to Grumpy McSame.
But the point is, this bill was not bipartisan. It was -- it is incredibly expensive. It has hundreds of billions of dollars in projects which will not yield in jobs. Now, if you think we need to improve education, spend money for it, fine. But this was supposed to be a package that was going to create jobs. A lot of this package will not create jobs. A lot of the tax cuts we've tried before of just giving people some money, it hasn't changed the way that savings have been conducted by Americans. So I'm not happy--and most of us aren’t-- at the lack of true bipartisanship in approaching this legislation.
Are you kidding me? The utter hypocrisy is mind-blowing...and yet, McCain has the audacity to sit there with a look of deep regret and sincerity on his face as he spews complete tripe. But host John King is not about to let McCain feel alone in his regret, so he launches what has to be the biggest softball concern troll framing I've heard this morning:
KING: Let's go to the process a little bit more. It’s a thousand pages. It’s eight pounds. We had it fedexed out to us. We’re contributing to the economy just having it shipped out here. Some of the changes were literally hand-scribbled on the side of the page. This happens all the time, unfortunately…
McCAIN: It’s the old business as usual…
KING: Well, if it’s the old business as usual, didn’t President Obama promise a new way of doing things in Washington? You say it was a terrible start. Are you sitting in your office these days saying, "I told you so"?
This from the man who warned Obama about being too liberal.
Forehead, meet keyboard. What I wouldn't give to see an intellectually honest discussion of the stimulus bill...obviously, it will not be found on "State of the Union".

Maybe all those out of work peasants can find lonely billionairess sugar mommas to live off of.
FUCK YOU MCCRAZYOLDFART
btw, did you insist that savings accounts will no longer be taxed?
John King is on the record as believing that anything that's not part of the right wing echo chamber must be "biased uninformed drivel" that he's simultaneously A) proud to claim that's he's never read and B) adamant about how misinformed it is.
http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2008/0...
Maybe this helps explain Think Progess's recent finding that the vast majority of guests on shows like King's are Republicans.
If it weren't for lying and fairy tale telling, Republican conservatives would have nothing to say.
Straight out lies. They've no conscience - much less a social conscience -- sociopaths simply don't. Lying is typical behavior though.

McCain is the personification of the re-Thuglic party.
He's old and he has failed - just as their ideas are old and have failed.
You lost old man - get over it.

You lost. That makes you a loser. Please go away.

McCain is out of his mind insane. He's also so rotten corrupt that I can smell his stench from here in my office.
Hey, John: There was an election. You guys lost, and not by just a little. Your idea of bipartisanship is the sociopath's ideal: bully others into giving you everything you want, for your own sake and no other's, then call your bullying "bipartisanship". If that's the way things were played, there'd be no point in having elections in the first place, would there? STFU and go home; you've had your say, you've had your time at the helm. All you clowns did with that time and power was rob the country blind and crash the ship of state onto the rocks. Screw you, you slimey jizzbag. You should be happy your asses haven't been thrown into prison.
I really like the STFU and go home part.

People in Az voted him into office, supported him, trusted him, refused to see him for the skunk he is,now is payday. How do you like your new homes at the corner of bull-shit and fuck you I'am rich road? Sheriff joe has plenty of cozy places to squat still available,(must be a spanish speaker),first come first jailed. Do you love it, do you hate it, their it is the way you made it. John King is useless now. All his inside the beltway 'savey' is obsolete now - from a by-gone era whe Republicans were not a criminal organization. Neither he nor any of the classic TV anchors can be trusted for real information about "the situation" anymore. Just look how they parade out republicans with talking points instead of the economists that advise them.
I'm afraid the networks have adopted the TV wrestling approach to their news productions. It's worse than useless - it's harmful.

Neither he nor any of the classic TV anchors can be trusted for real information about "the situation" anymore.
Especially Campbell Brown, who has taken up the Lou Dobbs-type populism. Yeah, like she is one of 'the people.' Her husband Dan Senor was a high-ranking member of the Bush administration, one of Coalition Authority characters who who presided over the disaster that is post-war Iraq; he wrote speeches for Iraq's postwar politicians and then went on TV and praised the speeches; he is a major member of AIPAC and a Fox News "commentator." Oh, and the founder of a 'global investment firm and hedge fund.'
She always had a certain smell about her - seriously. I could not like her.

GOP should be the PON - the Party of 'No'
Big babies.
The Democrats in Congress and Obama himself should repeat this over and over. Catapult the propaganda. Repeat "The Party of No" over and over again at every opportunity until the GOP is stuck with this label.
woodguy
To most Americans with the exception of the dead enders and the corporate media McCain is a washed up has been.
This is true. The conservative nutjobs that I know (my mother's entire extended family, around 45 people) voted for McCain only because he wasn't Obama. They didn't like McCain because they thought he was 'too liberal.' They gave him credit for being a POW but weren't really impressed by his constant referral to his imprisonment (several of my uncles are conservative Vietnam vets and they think talking about Vietnam all the time is something only wishy washy liberal vets do).
McCain had no really fervent supporters, like Bush did. He is a media darling and always has been (he calls the media 'my base'), milking his celebrity prisoner status for all he could get out of it. But that war ended a long time ago. When he dies, Arizona will name a building and a highway after him and that will be his only legacy.
you old GOAT!
Giving politicians stimulus money to fix the economy is no better than letting the Fox fix the chicken coop. Politicians are only interested in getting reelected. The money they receive from Washington will be distributed to political friends and not make jobs for unemployed strangers. But if you throw enough of the smelly stuff against the wall some of it will stick. Lets hope it trickles down.
He's SENILE!
Wasn't he just crying out for MORE tax cuts in the stimulus bill LAST WEEK?
We can expect this kind of hypocrisy and political obstructionist crybabying from McLame, but if there was any question if Jon King was gonna be a fair and balanced reporter, this is all you need to know. You'd think he would call McCain out on the tax cut hypocrisy, but instead he treads out Republican talking points with "scribbling notes" in the bill and does his Boehner impression about how many pages. Like Obama is supposed to change how Congress works? Should we also expect Obama to change the flag? How about the Constitution, would Republicans like that?
I can't stand how the MSM not only doesn't challenge the Right's obstructionism but piles on to it as well.
I never heard of this person in my entire life - seriously.

The GOP just voted AGAINST the LARGEST middle-class tax cuts in US history.
Are they HYPOCRITICALLY INSANE?
Why was i not aware of that fact? John King?

Who is this John McCain person, and why should I care?
A funny old rich character that crashed planes for a living, then fell into politics for a way to get ahead.
Only old republicans care.

I thought, after Jan 1st, father time was to just disappear.
Tool.
..looks like he died and they just forgot to bury him!
How about the Billions, nay Trillions, of taxpayers money we've wasted on GOP "Projects" - like the war in Iraq or tax cuts for the uber-wealthy???
I don't actually believe Obama is anything close to a savior, but seeing McGoo and hearing him spew nonsense again makes me glad Barry's the one who's lying to us on a daily basis.

....good one!
I watched some of that disgusting John King kiss-up shortly after noon today. What a cranky old loser McCain has become! At the station break there was a magnificent camera shot of a huge five-branched cactus in the Arizona desert. One could easily imagine that it was giving both of them the finger.
John King promised Jon Stewart [or was it Colbert?] that he was going to ask the difficult questions.
Well, that didn't last long....
...of the Democrats that is. Can't have the republicans slip all the way off the political map now can we. Well John you can - let them go - say goodbye.
"Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob"
-= Franklin Delano Roosevelt =-
Why would the lowlife McCain care about Arizona or any other place when he has 9 houses and 14 cars?? Wake up you poor, ignorant, bigoted, Reslugs out there and smell the coffee.
clearly shows whenever he is on the screen. Blitzer's Late Edition was at least tolerable, but with King at the helm it's all republicans, all the time. He ONLY had on republicans today. Fair & balanced much?
I think we should know the names of John King's producers!
We know the names of the talent, but we need to know the names of the producers, executive and otherwise. We already know the sponsors, bless them.
We need to join the dots between the money makers and John King's mouth.

Just more evidence of the obvious---that CNN and others are GOP enablers helping to spread their dysfunctional message and propaganda. Watch King and his fellow misanthrope hacks at your own risk.

John McCain is a freakin' Whig circa 1858.
He is a relic, a paleozoic footnote of history, a bit of political flotsam cast adrift on a tide so momentously novel from anything he can imagine that he can only dog-paddle his way through these appearances while spewing the same rhetoric that he mumbled before getting trounced at the polls three months ago.
In other words he's a Republican. He's got his head so far up his own ass he thinks a fart is an original thought.
My question is: who the fuck cares what he thinks?
In state after state where the Republican House and/or Senate member voted against the Stimulus, the Governor and State Legislatures have their hands out to the Federal Government for fiscal relief.
There is an enormous disconnect between the Republican House and Senate members and their constituents back home.
The 2010 elections should be the "coup de gras" for the Republican Party.
Every Republican House member and 19 of the 41 Republican Senators must face re-election in 2010.
When will government of the people, by the politicians, for the corporations perish from this Earth?
Not soon enough!
When GW Bush was president, and the Republicans controlled the House and Senate, they totally cut out the Democrats.
Yet now that the shoe is on the other foot, they bitch that Democrats are not involving them????? Obama has bent over backwards to include the Republicans, but every time he extends a hand, they give him the finger....
What do these Republicans want? Do they think they should be the ones calling the shots????
McCain is a senile old man, and be gratefull he did not win..
I think the RePigs forgot who won. Let Barack and the country remind them...
NOBODY 2012
Obama made a HUGE mistake putting any tax cuts into the stimulus package. What was the point? We already know from 8 miserable years of tax cuts for the wealthy that tax cuts are not what this country needs. What this country needs is a repeal of all of Reagan's tax cuts for corporations and the rich. What this country needs is a massive new federal initiative to rebuilt its infrastructure, which would create lots of new jobs. This country needs to invest in its population with public health care, boost the minimum wage to $15 dollars, cut the maximum wage to $200k, legalize and regulate drugs, eliminate tax breaks for corporations and religions, institute anti-monopoly laws, break up media monopolies, and prosecute political criminals from both parties.
You ought to run for office.
When are you going to vote in a bipartison manner? You're a waste of my time to listen to you.
..of the character of his whole deceptive and corrupt party of fascist swine. Gonna work with the new president....barf!! That lasted about 2 hours.
These idiots think this new catch phrase "bi-partisanship" works one way....."bend over Democrats, and let me show you this big toy I have.." How about THEY bend over, or better yet, "work with" the new administration instead of obstruct everything that comes out of the White House? Novel idea.
Even those three repug'lite senators that voted to pass the stimulus bill said it all....."there were other repug-pussies that came up and said they were glad we voted for the bill, and they wish they could too..." but of course their "tax break, less regulation, gun rights, save the unborn myth supporters" wouldn't vote for their asses ever again.
They had better be worried about the GENERAL ELECTION, and not just the primaries. These pathetic excuses for politicians are doomed, and I'm not one bit saddened by the news.
I find it uncomfortable the way Republicans first marveled at how polite they found Obama to be (as if they thought a black man couln't be polite), then the Republicans voiced anger at Pres Obama's not bowing to their wishes ( by not letting THEM make the big decisions)-
There is something vaguly racist about the way the Republicans approach Pres. Obama, in the complete lack of respect they show him...
I can see it in McCain's eyes, he doesn't see Pres obama as an equal.
They are NOT equals. McLame has a way to go yet.
If you need funds to pay for essentials, you have a revenue problem
If you need funds to pay for frivolity, you have a spending problem
Not a chance. Even when he's unconscious,Obama is smarter than McCain ever was or will be when he's wide awake and running on all cylinders.
McCain and the Republicans really should learn to respect their betters.
I am surprised at these conflicting statements that no one has read the bill, no one knows what is in it, and then they turn around and tell you that there is too much of this and too much of that, but that there is none of this and none of that.
How do they know what is in the bill, but more difficult, how do they know what is not in the bill, unless they have read it - all.
But then again, they are all a damn bunch of liars.
If you need funds to pay for essentials, you have a revenue problem
If you need funds to pay for frivolity, you have a spending problem
Senator McCain says "A lot of the tax cuts we've tried before of just giving people some money, it hasn't changed the way that savings have been conducted by Americans." Isn't it true (please correct me if I'm wrong) that most of the tax cuts are going to the middle class on our paystubs? When I get more money out of my paycheck, it's going to go to my mortgage and my credit cards, not spent on consumer goods. It won't stimulate the economy.
I think what McCain is talking about is that he thinks there aren't enough tax cuts for the wealthy who (presumably) then create jobs for other people. That's a consistent conservative position. It's clearly, obviously, painfully wrong, of course, but it's that same sort of apparently-confused rhetoric we heard a lot of on the campaign trail last year.
Yeah, I know. I've always wondered how they can peddle their line that tax cus for the rich go toward creating jobs. I'll bet you that since RayGuns started cutting taxes for the rich that not a single job was ever created by them. Not the first one: "Wow, I'm going to go start a business with this tax money and emplyee a shitload of people!" As if....
As long as the media refuses to ask republicans the right questions
they will continue to get away with the hypocracy and dishonesty.
How fucking hard can it be to ask a few simple questions?
For example. Please senator wind bag explain to our audience, what part of school funding does not either preserve or create jobs?
When schools nation wide order new textbooks, for example, how does that not create or preserve jobs?
Senator No way No How, what is there about rebuilding and refurbishing
10,000 schools across the country that does not either create or prerserve jobs? Please explain.
Senator Tax Cut, could you explain to our viewers how the reduction in payroll taxes will create jobs and how said reduction will be of immediate benefit to those Americans who are unemployed and recieving no pay check? Please be as specffic as possible.
This is not John King's fault this the fault of a lazy and shoddy media in general. Every time a member of the Republic party is interviewed they should be made to answer questions just like these and a slew of others just like them. If repiblicans want to offer alternatives then it is up to them to prove that these things don't create jobs.
Until then they need to stand back and STFU.
A 10% tax cut may be anything from 10 cents to a couple of hundred dollars for the middle class. Nothing for the lower class, but may be in the thousands of dollars for the rich. I ask Bill Gates which household items he will now be able to afford that he could not before (I am not disparaging Mr, Gates here). Then ask the same of the person living from paycheck to paycheck, if he still has a job.
Same goes for Small Business owners who need relief. They don't need money, they, like all businesses neeed customers, only then will they expand.
If you need funds to pay for essentials, you have a revenue problem
If you need funds to pay for frivolity, you have a spending problem
Which he had previous plans to be".. Wow. I thought Letterman was taped in New York City. Or was that Katie Couric?? It must be very important.. whatever it is he's doing, as he's not going to meet with the POTUS regarding the housing crisis in HIS state. What a miserable old man.
The more McSoreLoser/Insane spews his brand of Repuke detritus, the greater Obama looks by contrast.
McCain is nothing but an old battle axe with even fewer brain cells than he had when we last saw him losing the presidency.
This man, along with the other idiot talking Republican heads, may not realize it but they're do more for the Democratic party then any membership campaign could EVER do!
Keep up the good work for the Dems, McSleaze! Keep it up, please.
The bottom line is that the american people told McSleazy once and for all that he is an "irrelevant old fool" and we wouldn't trust him to walk our dogs.
What he's doing parading around like the poster child for some new Alzheimer's drug is beyond me.
Who gives a flying rat's pitoot about anything that this embecile has to say.
To say that McInsane is a washed up, old, has been is being kind to someone undeserving. The truth is that he's an irrelevant, ignorant, moronic old coot whose opinion means absolutely nothing to the average american.
McCrazy has nothing to say that 1)makes logical sense these days ....and 2) is more than egocentric blabber of a total buffoon.
It's in his character to warble at every opportunity.
He really should be back home having bbq's and looking after his wife so she stays out of the National Enquirer.
Why doesn't he simply come right out and say it?
Oh there's John! Will someone please change his diaper and remind him who won the election?
NOBODY 2012
It's got to be eating at him that 2008 was his last shot at becoming POTUS. Hope it eats a hole in his soul.
Heh, heh, hehhhh.....
By burying the GOP for good in 2010.

I cringe when mcCain Smirks- His ghastly yellow teeth are disgusting..
What part of "You Lost" does poor old John McCain not understand?
There's no fool like an old fool, the saying goes. I understand his frustration at losing the presidency so many times and the anger he feels because he felt that his "experience" in Washington, his most honorable prisoner of war saga, his "service" to his country, etc., gave him a sense of entitlement....they didn't, and HE LOST THE ELECTION! Too bad he wouldn't go out with a little class and dignity instead of showing such lack of good taste and grace in the wake of his loss. Country first, he says...I don't think so...
Woody McBreairty
Even though when in the majority, the Republicans totally marginalized and ignored Demoracts during Bush's tenure.
Rethugs are now boo hooing because they are no longer in power- and demand they retain the same level of clout.
Pres. Obama has bent over backwards to accomidate Republicans, what the hell more do they want?
Rush Limbagh seems to feel that the percentage of the Republican clout should refelct the percentage of people who voted for Mccain- And yet, would they extend the same boon to Democrats???
Every time i hear McCain interviewed i keep hearing "Fool on the Hill" by the Beatles playing in my head.
So is this an admission by McCain that the Bush Tax Cuts didn't create jobs? That the rich / middle class / poor just saved the money and didn't spend it?
So I guess their solution is nothing, right? Since tax cuts don't work and spending doesn't work.
McCain voted against everything that would help the citizens of the USA. He should go lick his wounds in AZ--and leave the policy making to those with some sense. I am tired of the politicians babying the corporations and the rich. Both will drop you like a hot potato to make a buck, while they say the poor and middle-class are unpatriotic & lazy.
You're bald, dude. Give it up. We all know it.
me-oww!
yet this current clusterfuck happened during their watch.
Why does anything that this geezer has to say regarding the economy seriously is beyond me.
After all this idiot ran his campaign like he flew his airplanes: into the ground.
Haven't you heard? Republicans insists GW Bush inherited the huge debt from Clinton, and the economy was fine until the day Obama took over- thats when the economy bottomed out. Republicans really are living in laa laa land.
We really need to stop electing elite class people into government. It's hard to care for the plight of common people when you so clearly are not. Seriously, I don't fault McCain as much as I do his wealth/notoriety. It's only human to be susceptible to the blindness that accompanies such stature, it's many of us who are at fault for these elite types getting in... they're everywhere, not just republicans.
thank you everyone this guy is NOT our leader/president. he wants it both ways....mcHypocrite.
I've lost whatever respect I still had for McCain due to his behavior over the last week or so. I keep hearing about how the Republicans wanted to be more than just the party of "no" and had all of these wonderful new ideas for the stimulus package that the mean old Democrats ignored. I just haven't heard them mention what any of these ideas were. Did I miss something?
King should try to the gather the strength and pull his bloated head out from McCain’s ass and then try really hard to be an actual reporter instead of a republican talking point reader. I wonder what King got McCain for Valentines Day
Wasn't McCain's bill put forth last week all tax cuts, which was shot down. You would think McCain would be used to folks taking a shit on his ideas
[Deleted. Off topic, spam-Sitemonitor]
but can it tell us the answer to the ultimate question...life, the universe and everything?
What a sad, sad, SAD old man.
Didn't the Nation tell you and your ideas(?) to fuck off last November?
should just shut up already and get ready to fade away at the end of his current term.
Evidently Mr. McCain doesn't drive America's highways.
When has anyone traveled down a highway for 100 miles without running slap dab in to the middle of at least one construction area Or for that matter freeways in large cities like Houston where construction seems to never end? They claim these funds will not provide permanent jobs!
I beg to differ!
Donaldd
Once the Dems pick up a couple more seats in the Senate, they can show McBowel all kinds of bipartisan love. You know, like sticking their foot up his ass...
Does it bother you to know that beside the fact that George W Bush is a HORRIBLE human being, he is also a much better pilot than you are or were! Yeah I bet that grinds you , no end!
