AMW's John Walsh Speaks Out Against Police and Firefighter Cuts
Wow. America's Most Wanted host John Walsh has an earful about cutting the government to spark economic growth this week. He notes letting police and firefighters go is bad for our communities. Flint, MI which laid off two-thirds of its police force, according to Walsh has become a "small city murder capital of the U.S."
But then, Walsh goes full Occupy.
"Who's going to pay for the economic meltdown - the huge debt?" He says, "How about companies? Companies that have made more money than in the whole history of the world and they've done it with less people. Some of the Fortune 500 companies pay no state taxes at all. We all know about GE not paying federal taxes."
And he continues to rail on this conservative cure-all for our economic woes: "It's a quick fix but it's not a good fix. We got to make the corporations pay more money and we can't let these people [police] go. You got to speak up."
Here. Here.

NDAA locally.... easier to oppress a nation's citizenry and bring about the corporate dictatorship.
In other words, we need a lot less cops in my view.
Less cops means the emperor of the US corporate dictatorship will be forced to overtly deploy our military against our own people for the world to see.

I wonder how long it will take before Limbaugh attacks john Walsh?
Don't be surprised if Limbaugh brings Walsh's dead son into it and hits a new low.

Interesting. I'd imagine most of the only people that still watch AMW are wingers, wonder how this cognitive dissonance will hit them,
Not really. No one wants murderers, con-men, and rapists on the loose. Say what you will about John Walsh, but he does provide a service to the greater community.
He basically said we should be taxing the rich to hire teachers for the public schools. That's low grade kryptonite to a winger.
Low grade? That's the good stuff, high quality kryptonite used to take down the big blue in one shot!!
In all seriousness, however, what did one expect this man to feel about this? He has dedicated his life to try and get scum off of the streets in his own way. There is no way John Walsh would ever be on board with less police on the streets.
Yes. But he could have maintained a congnitive dissonance that would have allowed him to believe in constant tax cuts. And there's no reason he need supprt teachers. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see it.
I'm happy to see it too. I'm just saying that IMHO that it's part of the man's character.
The only thing I disliked about him was the constant judgmental name calling he always did.
It's been a long time since I watched, but I sometimes felt some of the cases were witch hunts built on "convenient" evidence.
Otherwise, he seemed to mature through the years.
Great for him and us.
No one wants murderers, con-men, and rapists in Congress, buy ya get 'em anyway.

Cut police pay. Maybe they'll finally 'get it'.

Nice going, John Walsh.
You give me hope.

As for the police, fire them and/or, cut their salaries and pensions all you rich people wish.
After seeing the disgusting treatment of the Occupy movement, we could use a lot less corporate lackey mercenaries.
Let's see how homeless, former cops feel when their still employed counterparts pepper spray their asses for standing up for their rights.

Unfortunately, underpaid law enforcement officers can pretty easily be relied on to take to bribery. If you think it's bad now, imagine what they would do if they weren't only authoritarian but also pervasively corrupt.
The DrugWar has given every cop an incentive for corruption with asset forfeiture. The few who resist the temptation are vanishingly small. The entire institution of law enforcement hasn't been corrupted, but it doesn't have to be, just the top leadership...again, thanks to the DrugWar.
You want to put a leash back on the cops' collars? Get them back under local control? You want to keep them from doing what they've done in places like Occupy Oakland? Starve the Beast by ending drug prohibition and eliminating Fed 'grants' to buy the deadly toys (supposedly
bought to 'fight drugs') that they're just itching to use on the rest of us.
