The recent scandal surrounding Walter Reed Army Medical Center is the latest in what has become a chronic pattern of neglect towards our troops, our nation's veterans and their families.
As Charlie noted in his recent Op-Ed, the problem is much bigger than conditions at Walter Reed. This government's failure to plan for wartime contingencies and post-war obligations to veterans has been systemic. The chronic under-funding of the VA Healthcare system, over-extending and under-equipping of our active duty troops, massive backlog of VA claims, and the growing epidemic of PTSD, homelessness (1 in 3 homeless men in America is a Veteran), suicide, substance abuse, and divorce among veterans past and present are just a few of the symptoms.
Remember, "No Veteran Left Behind" means holding our elected leaders accountable for results-not lip service. And it means each of us getting involved to ensure our troops receive the benefits, care, and dignity they have earned.
Click Here to support a real champion for our troops and our veterans-between now and March 31st, 10% of each online contribution to Charlie Brown for Congress will be donated to area outreach programs that help veterans in need get back on their feet.
