Jared Fogle, long time Subway spokeman who bragged how he lost an insane amount of weight while living on the Subway diet, was assaulted in prison on January 29th. Fogle is currently serving a 15 year sentence in Englewood Correctional Facility in Colorado after pleading guilty to charges of child pornography and engaging in sex with minors.
Apparently, the inmate who assaulted him, Steven Nigg, has a problem with child sex predators. TMZ reports that Nigg, who is currently serving a sentence for a weapons violation, is "pissed" because so many child sex predators are housed at the low security facility. His family says that seeing Fogle was the "last straw" and they were not surprised that he assaulted him.
Fogle didn't have a fighting chance, as he was totally unprepared to be jumped in the rec yard. He was left with a bloody nose, swollen face and lacerations to his neck. Nigg only suffered a minor cut to his finger, although he will be serving some time in solitary confinement to think about what he did.
Child sex predators and pedophiles are the lowest rung in prison and run the risk of murder, serious assault and a litany of other threats on a daily basis. Fogle is only a few months into his sentence. This will not be the last time we hear of an assault on him.
