Erick Erickson: 'Republicans, Apologize To Bill Clinton'

OK, it's official. Donald Trump is causing the Republican party to crack up. There are many conservative talk show hosts who are vowing to never support Donald Trump, like Glenn Beck and Mark Levin, but this admission by Erick Erickson is something all together different.

On the campaign trail, Trump was more a pathological liar than Bill Clinton ever was. He smeared his opponents, their wives, and their families. He embraced 9/11 trutherisms that George Bush was to blame for the attacks, he peddled malignant, false stories about Ted Cruz’s father, and few Republicans ever called on him to account. Many gave him passes on the lies they would never give to Bill Clinton.

Republicans owe Bill Clinton an apology for impeaching him over lies and affairs while now embracing a pathological liar and womanizer. That apology will not be forthcoming. In fact, for years Republicans have accused the Democrats of gutter politics and shamelessness. Now the Republicans themselves have lost their sense of shame.

Republicans and the main stream media all owe Bill Clinton an apology for how they tried to wreck his presidency over imaginary scandals and independent councils led by Ken Starr - but then when Bill did have an affair, they literally went into convulsions.

Be that as it may, Erickson is right , even if it comes years too late, but he still refuses to acknowledge his part in creating the Trump monster.

Digby writes:

Actually, they lost their sense of shame when hypocrites like Henry Hyde, Newt Gingrich,Bob Livingston all voted to impeach Clinton for a consensual affair when they were guilty of the same (as are tens of millions of married people) and then putting a man who turned out to be a serial sexual predator of teenage boys into he Speakership --- a man who also voted for impeachment.

But be that as it may, this primary seems to be bringing into focus for some Republicans that the gross form of politics that makes it acceptable to call a Supreme Court justice a "goat-fucking child molester" can lead to a man like Donald Trump.
