Police in North Carolina said on Wednesday that they had been made aware that people dressed in Ku Klux Klan robes were spotted marching on a bridge the morning after Donald Trump's presidential win.

Twitter user kelbi1lewis shared a photo Wednesday morning of robed marchers on an I-85 overpass.

A spokesperson for the Mebane Police Department told Raw Story that the march "happened in Burlington," which is located nearby.

A Burlington Police Department spokesperson said that she was aware of reports of the march but could neither confirm nor deny that it took place. The spokesperson said that additional details could be released later in the day.

Update: A reporter for the Burlington Times News told Snopes that that the photo was taken on election day, not the morning after. Additionally, she said that none of the marchers claimed to be associated with the KKK.

Alemance County Sheriff's director of public information Randy Jones told BuzzFeed that a group of Trump supporters held another demonstration on the overpass Wednesday.

“It's the same group of people. They've got several flags, but they're not in garb. There's nothing related to the Klan,” Jones said.
