Special Report with Bret Baier tackled the issue of Trump's tweets to the military about the fate of our transgender soldiers and Charles Krauthammer was stunned throughout most of his monologue.
Stunned might be the wrong word, "mystified" might be better.
As Baier's All Star Panel members tried to justify Trump's wreckless and asinine actions against our transgender military members, Charles Krauthammer opened up with, "The roll out of the timing is simply bizarre."
Bizarre being the key word.
Krauthammer discussed how bad the political optics of the day were for Trump, with the Senate health care votes failing and his "bizarre Twitter war against Attorney General Sessions is continuing and diminishing the president at the same time."
He thought changing the subject might help and said, "but it came out of nowhere as Michael indicated."
Charles explained that General Mattis and the Defense Department had asked for six months to review the program which was fair for a new administration, but "you don't release a policy like this and make a reversal without having an answer to the simple question, such as 'are you going to withdraw people right now in the field who are transgender?'"
He continued, "It's like the release of the executive order on immigration, where they had no answer on what do you do with the person with the green card, and cause that chaos at the airports, when the first version of the travel ban was issued."
Charles said, "This is not how you run a railroad, no matter how you feel about the underlying issue. This is really bizarre."
Charles maybe hadn't read the Politico article that reported Trump made this snap decision of discarding the LGBTQ community and transgender members in the military without consulting anyone from the military or his cabinet simply to try and get funds to build his facacta border wall.
But Charles response wouldn't have changed much because the word that he used over and over again, "bizarre" fits Trump's behavior perfectly in almost any context.
