While Trump dangerously threatens unilateral war and abandons world leadership for militaristic one-side threats, David Gregory swoons that "He's standing up to institutions!"
September 19, 2017

Watch for more of this kind of crap as Trump Russia gets more inflamed. David Gregory watched the same UN speech we did. The one where Trump called the North Korean dictator "Rocket Man" and suggested we "might have to totally destroy" North Korea.

David Gregory's conclusion? Donald Trump is being "tough on institutions!"

After watching his rambling, incoherent toast at a UN lunch, which ended with an insult -- "I toast to your potential to do great things" in essence, Gregory praised Trump for sticking to his campaign promises (not making that up):

He is making an essential point that I think is very much in keeping with his philosophy and some of the criticisms he made with the UN over time. It's very much consistent with a message that brought him into the presidency: 'I call the institutions out for not doing a good enough job and not pulling their weight.' If it has to do with NATO, the part of these country's military that is dedicated to NATO, or agreements that are bad. That's a controversial position and he has a lot of people who support that. Look at the problems we have been having with North Korea going back to the 90s. Bill Clinton negotiated a position. This is consistent with a tough approach to the United Nations. He is not very diplomatic about it, he has been a critic, but there is potential to work together. That's what the supporters will say was a win today and he will have other conservatives in the establishment say yeah, the United Nations have been coming up short for a long time.

Here at Crooks and Liars we've got over 1300 posts on David Gregory, most of which deal with him carrying water for Republicans and their policies. Hey David, if you really want to be a lobbyist for the worst ideas in American Politics, there are fossil fuel companies that will hire you. I suspect you're addicted to seeing your face on television. We're not. Go dance with Karl Rove on your own time.

Warning: this is still cringe-inducing ten full years later....
