That video at the top is one my son made for Covered California, telling his story of why the ACA matters so much. Sure, we might live in an ACA-friendly state, but Adam's story isn't any different from many in every one of our 50 states.
He matters. We all do.
That is why we are going to fight Senator Lindsey Graham's insane effort to kill us, even though we're sick of it and we're tired, tired, tired of these cynical Republican jerks trying to kill us.
"You might be tempted to assume that no plan along these lines can possibly pass, let alone one that, if anything, looks worse than what we’ve seen so far," writes Paul Krugman. "But it’s precisely because so many people assume that the threat is behind us, and have turned their attention elsewhere, that health care is once again in danger."
Yes, it's true, and this one is indeed worse than any of the others. It allows insurers to gouge folks with pre-existing conditions just like before, it rewards the states which did not expand Medicaid by taking funds away from states which did.
It will kill people like Adam.
When we sounded the warning bells over this earlier today, there was a lot of cynicism in the comments (Yes, we still read the comments.)
Lose it. We don't have time for cynicism. People whose lives depend on having access to health care do not have time for complacency OR cynicism. I don't care what your opinions are about Republicans or Democrats right now. I only care that if you have the ability to call a Senator -- especially a Republican one -- that you do so, and do so now.
Here's the info. CALL THEM. And thank you in advance for the passion and action with which you replaced your cynicism and complacency. Our lives depend upon it, so gratitude is in order.
UPDATE: Those jerks are planning a vote on this without a CBO score.
Tell them: NO SCORE, NO VOTE
