Donald J. Trump's former Vice President (remember?) Mike Pence feigned outrage that the Biden administration would be 'attacking a free press' by monitoring misinformation that may come out of Twitter since Elon Musk took control.
Pence joined Fox News' Outnumbered to promote his new book and claimed it was offensive to him that the current White House would comment about Elon.
Pence was asked about Elon Musk's claims of free speech after taking over Twitter.
"Is Elon Musk right," Emily Campagno asked. Pence said Musk was exactly right.
Apparently, the former VP has a very fuzzy memory regarding Trump and a free press.
"The foundation of America is freedom," Pence said. "And the freedom of speech, a free and independent press is a bulwark of why this nation is extraordinary and exceptional."
Are you gagging yet?
"To see in the White House press room the suggestion that the President of the United States is keeping a close eye on any element of the media is deeply offensive to me," Pence remarked. "It's your job in the media to keep a close eye on elected officials."
Pence then swerved immediately into the Hunter Biden laptop and claimed that was the reason the White House was monitoring Twitter.
Where was Pence's outrage when Trump said the free press were the most dishonest people and that he, as President, was going to try and change libel laws to sue them all?
"I think the media is among the most dishonest groups of people I've ever known," Trump said. "I'm going to open up our libel laws so when they write purposely negative and horrible and false articles, we can sue them and win lots of money. We're going to open up those libel laws."
This wasn't a suggestion by Trump. It was a promise he tried to keep.
In May of 2017, Sean Spicer confirmed that then COS Reince Priebus told ABC's Jonathan Karl that the Trump administration has "looked at" the possibility of changing libel laws to allow them to sue The New York Times.
Trump even tried to get the Senate to investigate journalists.
Was Mike Pence in a coma when this was taking place?
