The odious Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sent a sweeping request to the Department of Public Safety to compile a list of anyone who had changed their gender on either their driver's license or any other department records in the past 24 months.

The Washington Post uncovered memos from the chief of the DPS license division.

“Need total number of changes from male to female and female to male for the last 24 months, broken down by month,” the chief of the DPS’s driver license division emailed colleagues in the department on June 30, according to a copy of a message obtained by The Washington Post through a public records request. “We won’t need DL/ID numbers at first but may need to have them later if we are required to manually look up documents.”

The records obtained by The Post, which document communications between DPS employees, are entitled: “AG Request Sex Change Data” and “AG data request."

Why would the Texas AG need these records? For persecution, obviously.

Paxton is singling out these people for retribution in punishment for being who they are. Using this community as a punching bag seems to bring joy to conservatives.

Targeting the trans community has become a sick game for Republicans since right-wing activists used it to promote their f**ked up culture wars meme.

Texas already is investigating families that have trans kids... for child abuse.

Governor Gregg Abbott seems to be in competition with Ron DeSantis for the most heinous Republican lawmaker still in office.
