RNC chair Ronna McDaniel ridiculously insisted on Fox Business that the GOP can solve its speaker chaos with a “kumbaya moment.”
January 4, 2023

McDaniel first tried to put lipstick on the pig of Republican disarray and gridlock by saying that “at a policy level,” Republicans “are more united than ever.”

Host Stuart Varney wasn’t buying it. He noted that there are five to seven holdouts who steadfastly refuse to vote for Kevin McCarthy as speaker of the House. McCarthy can’t afford to lose more than four votes.

“I’m more hopeful than that,” McDaniel insisted. “I think there is a way. I think there’s always a path - ”

“What’s the way?” Varney interrupted.

McDaniel obviously had no idea. So she fell back on the all-purpose GOP talking point of demonizing Democrats. “Especially when you look at the Democrats and what they’re doing to this country –"

“So, what’s the way?” Varney interrupted again, as McDaniel continued to obfuscate, now saying that Republicans were elected to do “what the American people want us to do.”

Never mind that just last week, McDaniel claimed that investigating Hunter Biden’s laptop should be a top priority of the GOP House, which is definitely not the priority of Americans.

But Varney was not interested in her talking points. “You keep saying there is a way to bring this conference together. What is that way?” he asked yet again.

Obviously, McDaniel doesn’t know of any way. She said, “I think there’s a way. Get in a closed-door room, figure it out, have a kumbaya moment and figure out what we need to do to make sure that we’re able to come together, elect a speaker, and get moving.”

Varney pointed out that House Republicans have been doing that for the last 18 hours.

“I’m hopeful, Stuart, I’m hopeful. We have to come together,” McDaniel said.

“Yeah, because if you don’t, I mean, it’s utter chaos and the Republican party has been shamed, frankly. Hasn’t it?

Yes, it has. And I'm enjoying every minute of it.
