House Republicans In Disarray, Petty Edition

Because some Republicans had hurt feels over the bipartisan moment when Congress voted to avert a debt ceiling crisis and save the economy from ruin, they brought up a vote on their rules to debate a bill, then killed it. The battle to prevent ANY federal regulation of gas-fueled stoves in American homes isn't going well. These are very serious politicians, after all.

This was explained as "a rare situation we have here on the House floor now where the majority doesn't have enough votes to approve the rules for debating their legislation."

Eleven Republicans voted against moving forward with debate on the legislation. All Democrats stayed unified and also voted against it. The last time this happened was in 2002.

It appears House Freedom Caucus is taking Save Gas Stoves legislation hostage in response to “bad faith” attempts by leadership over the debt limit negotiations. “Unfortunately, two weeks a deal was made and it broke away what we had made,” Rep. Chip Roy tells reporters.

I wasn’t elected to play political games. I was elected to uphold the Constitution.

Leadership failed to bring Andrew Clyde’s bill to repeal the unconstitutional ATF pistol brace rule to the floor.

Hey, if they were competent, they might do more damage. Let's count our blessings and work to get these bozos back in the backbencher minority where they belong.
