Another very specific example of how right-wing media doesn't merely spin, but actually rewrites, the stories they present to their in-their-bubble Republican audience.

On Wednesday, my colleague Conover covered in detail not only the forceful questioning from Democrats to John Durham, taxpayer-funded content-supplier to Hannity and other pro-GOP outlets.

But not on Newsmax!

Their "National Report" show opened the segment with an out-of-context clip from Durham's opening statement.

DURHAM: Our findings were sobering. I can tell you having spent 40 years plus as a federal prosecutor they're particularly sobering to me and a number of colleagues who spent decades in the FBI themselves. They were sobering.

Nothing about him not reading the Mueller Report. Nothing about all of the actual honest answers concerning his lack of indictments, let alone convictions. Don't expose the rubes to the truth.

EMMA RECHENBERG (CO-HOST): That is a former special counsel John Durham, detailing his investigation or wrapping it up into the alleged claims that the Trump campaign and Russia collusion that was investigated.

LOVE that passive voice, Emma!

RECHENBERG: Durham's report found that the FBI had no basis to launch an investigation into the Trump campaign, and again, this was years of an investigation. And you just heard the man behind the investigation say what he found was sobering. Democrats grilled Durham during yesterday's hearing, while most Republicans applauded his efforts.

And that's it. That's the totality of the coverage of the hearing. But wait, there's more!

RECHENBERG: With us now Congressman Kevin Kiley, member of the House Judiciary Committee, which oversaw the hearing. Welcome today, sir. And thanks for taking the time to talk to us about what you saw yesterday. Was anything surprising to you from what you heard from both House Republicans and Democrats?

Ooh, let's see what this freshman California Republican who's been in Congress (checks watch) five whole months has to say to Newsmax.

REP KEVIN KILEY (R-CA): Well, good morning, and you know what was surprising, although perhaps it shouldn't have been, is that you had several members on the other side of the aisle, you know, especially from California, Representatives Adam Schiff, Ted Lieu, Eric Swalwell, as well as the ranking member here, Mr. Nadler, who continue to sort of grasp for you know this, uh, discredited idea of collusion...

Gotcha. Kiley's job is to pimp for the California Republican Party and pretend that Russia collusion never happened. And Newsmax says thank you, Congressman!

And Newsmax totally left out this part:

This is media corruption. And Newsmax is beating Fox in the ratings.
