During an interview with Fox News's Maria Bartiromo set to air on Sunday, former President Donald Trump was asked if it was a mistake to appoint Christopher Wray as FBI director. I don't think I've ever heard Trump admit to an error or a defeat, and he did not disappoint.
Chris Christie has been taking Trump on during news shows, so Trump blamed the former Governor for Wray's appointment during an excerpt released on Friday.
"Sadly, it probably was," Trump said. "You know, he was recommended very strongly by Chris Christie, who is, you know, a sad case."
"He's in this race just to take you down," the Fox host said.
That's when Trump mocked Christie's poll numbers and added, "He probably won't even make the debate stage."
That's probably false. On Wednesday, Christie said he had garnered donations from more than 40,000 people in his presidential run. That meets a threshold that takes him one step closer to getting on the debate stage.
It's more likely that Trump won't take the debate stage against Christie:
And Christie knows it, too.
