Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on Sunday lashed out at eight Republicans, including Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who voted to oust former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
Greene made the remarks during an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo a day after Israel suffered a major terrorist attack.
"What happened to Israel could happen to America because our country has been invaded by millions of people from over 160 countries," Greene claimed. "And we've been invaded by people we don't even know where they are."
"And so what we're seeing in Israel could happen to the United States of America," she continued. "And it'd be foolish to ever think that that's not possible."
Bartiromo wondered if Republicans would accelerate their efforts to find a new speaker.
"Has the war on Israel created an expedited situation in terms of getting a speaker in place?" she asked. "Can you walk us through what will take place this week with regard to the speaker of the House?"
"We are in a serious [sic] weakened position, Republicans that control the majority in the House of Representatives," Greene remarked. "I want to remind everyone that we barely control the majority of the House, and that's only one-third of the federal government."
"What happened last week, I completely disagree with," she added. "It was eight Republicans joining with all the Democrats in the House and basically throwing the gavel on the floor and saying it's now up for grabs at anyone that wants it."
