At a time when we're witnessing Republicans frothing at the mouth in the hopes of eradicating rights for the LGBTQ+ community, country music legend Dolly Parton shines, reminding us that we are all human. And aside from being incredibly talented and fabulously wealthy, she's a lot like us. No, really. And she claps back at Republicans in her way, whether intentional or not, with a bit of shame thrown in for good measure.

"I've got transgender people. I've got gays. I've got lesbians. I've got drunks. I've got drug addicts — all within my own family." she said in November. "I know and love them all, and I do not judge. And I just see how broken-hearted they get over certain things, and I know how real they are."

"I know how important this is to them. That's who they are. They cannot help that any more than I can help being Dolly Parton, you know, the way people know me," she continued. "If there's something to be judged, that is God's business. But we are all God's children, and how we are is who we are."

Dolly Parton added in the most Dolly Parton way possible: "I just want everybody to be treated good."

She recently helped a dying man fulfill a wish by serenading him over the phone.

From her Imagination Library to the $15,000 college scholarship that is offered to five high school seniors in Sevier County, Tennessee, every year, to the benefit concert she held for the new Sevier County hospital to the Telethon she hosted after the devastating East Tennessee wildfires hit the area, to her My People Fund to her Covid-19 efforts to Tennessee flooding relief in 2021 to...

Deep breath

...the Dollywood Company for covering 100% of tuition, fees, and books for any employee who wishes to further their education to her $1 million donation to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville in June 2022 to help further pediatric infectious disease research, Dolly proves that she has the empathy gene.

She doesn't insult Republicans, but her mere existence puts them to shame. For that and every song she has been a part of (there are no terrible Dolly Parton songs), we bestow upon her a good gal Crookie Award. We love us some Dolly Parton, and I love that I've probably left out hundreds of good deeds from Parton during her over fifty-year career. She's just that good of a person. It's hard to keep track.

I am just adding this song because it's phenomenal, in my right, but always humble opinion.
