When Barack Obama took office, he was given an apocalyptic economy that he had to turn around -- and he did. When Donald Trump took office, he was gifted with a healthy economy as he rode on his predecessor's coattails while handing out tax cuts for the rich. And then, Joe Biden got into office and had to right the economic wrongs of his predecessor to turn the economy around.
Bidenomiics is working, and that's not sitting well with Donald, who launched a social media platform solely to lash out at his successor daily. So, Trump criticized Biden for the economy while taking credit for it. Biden's economy is so wildly successful that it got an enthusiastic shoutout on Fox News.
But not on Truth Social.
"THE ECONOMY IS TERRIBLE & INFLATION, WHICH BY SOME ACCOUNTS IS MORE THAN 30% OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS, HAS TOTALLY DESTROYED THE BUYING POWER OF THE CONSUMER. THE ONLY THING THAT IS KEEPING THE ECONOMY "ALIVE" IS THE FUMES OF WHAT WE ACCOMPLISHED DURING THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION," Lumpy wrote. "THE STOCK MARKET IS ONLY HIGH BECAUSE PEOPLE, & INSTITUTIONS, BELIEVE & EXPECT ME TO WIN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF 2024. IF I DON'T WIN, IT IS MY PREDICTION THAT WE WILL HAVE A STOCK MARKET "CRASH" WORSE THAN THAT OF 1929 - A GREAT DEPRESSION!!! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
Sure thing, buddy. Inflation is at 3.1, not 30 percent. Holy cow. Unemployment is at 3.7 percent. The economy is thriving. The stock market is doing fabulously. And if Trump pulled in these numbers, he would take victory laps while posting about "JOBS! JOBS! JOBS!" on social media.
The "fumes" of Trump's tax cuts:
The truth is that the Bush and Trump tax cuts are responsible for a considerable amount of our country's debt and have cost $10 trillion since their creation. That was Trump's most significant economic "accomplishment." Biden is digging us out of that blunder, and Trump is blaming him for correcting the economy.
Trump has made some jaw-dropping claims about the economy before, so this isn't too shocking for such a bloviating fuckstick. But this might be the first time he has lashed out over the economy while taking credit for it. You can't make this stuff up.
As usual, the opposite of what Lumpy is saying is true:
