U2's New Year's Day was the third track on their album War and was released as the lead single 40 years ago this month. It was originally supposed to be a love song written by Bono for his wife but ended up being more about the Solidarity movement happening in Poland. Rather fitting, given the growing union movement happening now in this country.
In this video, the band is performing live at the Red Rocks Ampitheater in Colorado in 1983.
